This was my brothers favorite band. He passed away in 86 at 17 years old. Spandau Ballet was played at his funeral. So they are special to our family. I grew up in the US and most of my friends didn’t know their music besides True and it’s taken me years to get them to notice this great band. My sister and cousin and brother saw them live back in the day. I was the youngest so i never got to. I was lucky enough to see them with my sister when they reunited around 5 years ago. That didn’t last, which is a shame. They looked and sounded so great. I really love early Spandau as they were a bit more wild in the way they dressed and the music is darker. A great band. Listen to To Cut A Long Story Short, Paint Me Down (sexy!), Chant No. 1, Musclebound There is a great documentary on them called Soul Boys of the Western World. It was on Netflix but not sure where to find it these days. A recommendation for all who love 80s music.
I can't believe that you haven't heard this before but then I realise your age.....😉 This is the eighties and boy did we love this back in the days!! Happy to see your reactions to this beutiful song!!❤️
If you’re listening to a song from the 80s, there is a 75% chance there’s going to be a sax solo. Lol. Spandau Ballet is a good group. Check their song Gold.
I know many people will say react to Gold next, but I think their song Through The Barricades is an absolutely amazing song that you just have to hear. The last singer here, Tony Hadlee has one of the best male voices of all time imo. Please react to more Spandau Ballet!!!
Love It !!! Fantastic !!! This song is one of the best songs of the 1980s... Great band! Amazing band! I am so glad you liked this Spandau Ballet song. They have had so many hit songs, Through The Barricades - Chant No.1 - Gold - Lifeline - Only When You Leave - To Cut A Long Story Short - Gold - Communication - I'll Fly For You.......and many more.... Thank you Bryson
Tony Hadley has a great voice. Their other massive hit is Gold. I think their earliest stuff like To Cut a Long Story Short and Chant No.1 is their best work though. Fun fact, Gary Kemp (songwriter) recently revealed this song was about his unrequited love for Altered Images singer Claire Grogan.
I like Claire grogan.she was in Syfi sitcom red dwarf as Kristine Kochanski and film Gregory's girl. Try happy birthday and don't talk to me about love-altered images.
Other 80s British chill tunes: "Song For Whoever" by The Beautiful South "The Look of Love" by ABC "Long Hot Summer" by The Style Council "Avalon" by Roxy Music "This Is Your Land" by Simple Minds
One of the best 80s band. It was very difficult to find the tapes in Argentina... I adore them. The voice of the lead singer is one of the most beautiful male voice Ive ever heard.
Stunning example of how a band just found their groove and the public loved them. Eventually though, they slipped towards a rock sound which did not play to their strengths (probably a record company suggestion), and I personally was not "feelin' it". They were awesome from '80 to '85, and Tony Hadley has a beautiful voice 🥰
I just knew you were gonna love them, Bryson. After all, they have a sax solo in the majority of their songs. And I think that warrants a deep dive. Or five. 😉 Gold, Through The Barricades, Only When You Leave, I'll Fly For You.. . So many great songs. Their earlier stuff is much rawer and very difderent in style, like Chant No. 1 (funky), To Cut a Long Story Short (new wave), or Paint Me Down (take your heart meds).
80s classic!! Truly beautiful song. Although I like their earlier stuff more. Chant no. 1, To cut a long story short or Paint me down (very sexy video hahaha). But the song Gold is also great
It never occurred to me that you may not have heard this, god I feel old, lol. I guarantee, now you've heard it, you'll love it forever, and yes, you must listen to 'Gold' next, although I'll be so surprised if you haven't heard that before in some context. Great reaction, so fun, thanks as always. ❤
Watching your face light up listening to these gems is worth the entrance fee alone. Before you even mentioned Sax, I was like "does PMD now there is a Sax incoming ?" 😂 This is an 80s masterpiece. Spandau Ballet were a band for the refined connoisseur of music hehe. Very polished work. I would recommend "Gold" as your next listen. ❤ I don't know why but I always follow up "True" with "Your Love is King" by Sade... they both have a similar vibe I guess.
One of the best songs of the 1980s and still so good today. When I hear this is takes me back to high school and that sound of the early to mid 80s. What a great time for music and to be a teenager.
You're going on a bit of an '80s British pop band spree lately, and I'm very much here for it :) A bunch of recommendations I wanted to make: "Don't You Want Me" by The Human League, "Life in a Northern Town" by the Dream Academy, "Love Will Tear Us Apart" by Joy Division, "Ghost Town" by the Specials, and "House of Fun" by Madness.
I went to see these on their first tour in 1982 at the Empire theatre in my city Liverpool. Fantastic night. The 2 main lads from OMD, Andy and Paul, where there also in the crowd. Some girls tried to climb the drain pipes to get into their room on the first floor. Funny as hell it was.
From that spring 1983 hit on many others followed. And I believe you'll like them all: "Gold" (summer 1983), "Only When You Leave" (spring 1984), "I'll Fly For You" (summer 1984), "Highly Strung" (fall 1984), "Through The Barricades" (spring 1986) - those are my favourites ❤️
Never tire of this song or video with it..I just forget everything negative for those few precious minutes, so beautiful..doesn't hurt that every member is pretty hot, goodness the piano boy is so freaking cute !!!
"Through the Barricades" is another amazing song by them. Tony's voice, the instrumentation and the message of the songs is perfect! It's an extremely underrated song!
You and 80s Brit Pop were made for each other. The Spandau boys were all very handsome. I did laugh when you got the vapours over the sax though :) Your next song from them should be 'Gold'.
Such a great band. I remember them well. Love their music and lyrics! "Gold" is another gem ;) And "Only when you leave"is my absolute favorite! Thanks for doing this one! X LJ
The most handsomest man in pop history. Also, this song is part of a very funny scene in Sixteen Candles which you should watch if you haven't seen it.
Yes, Tony Hadley's voice is beautiful, like medicine to your soul.. Kemp Bros, Gary and Martin, drummer John Keeble, and Steve Norman on saxophone. Pls also check out " I'll Fly For You" and "Only When You Leave".
Absolutely adore 'Through The Barricades', my favourite song of theirs. My cousin was in love with Steve Norman who played saxophone ☺ Also 'How Many Lies' and 'I'll Fly For You' are fantastic songs ❤ xx
Sorry, I forgot to add an important note to one of my recommendations: If you choose to do Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart," go with the 1995 remastered version. You can find both the original and the remastered versions with the 1980 music video on Joy Division's official page, but the sound quality with the original is such that you can't really hear what he's singing.
This song NEVER gets old. Today's music def needs more sax. Tony was always sexy in his suits. Highly recommend you watch some recent live videos of him. Still sounds amazing.. Please react to Gold. Another favorite of mine from them..
I was 5 when the 80s started. Such great music. The first music i ever remember listening too was actually Meatloaf 'Bat Out Of Hell' album. My dad would have it blaring especially on spring cleaning day. Nothing to do with the 80s as such just my first musical memory. But we did have such great music and a variety.
Spandau Ballet is great just about all their songs have the sax , so you will definitely enjoy. React to “Gold” , “Lifeline” , “Only When you leave” , “Communication” , “ Highly Strung” and “Round and round” to name a few.
There are definitely certain songs that I HAVE TO come back to this channel to watch you react to. This is one of them. There’s more good ones by Spandau Ballet as well; do GOLD next. You will of course love it.
Spandau Ballet were one of my favorites from the New Wave days. Impeccable recordings. Other suggestions: Lifeline, Communication, Gold, Paint Me Down, and the incredible Chant #1 (I Don't Need This Pressure On). All excellent songs. Great reaction!
The main songwriter & lead guitarist, Gary Kemp, now co-hosts a podcast with bassist Guy Pratt (that's his great groove on Madonna's "Like a Prayer") called "The Rockonteurs" -- well worth checking out.
They started as new romantics end of 70's.if you watch earlier videos you'll see that their image was different. The guy on the piano is Gary Kemp he writes the songs.his little brother Martin is the guitarist. When the group split Gary and Martin played Ronnie and Reggie kray in the krays movie.they were eastend London gangsters. Martin got a role on soap opera EastEnders and Gary played Whitney Houston's manager in movie the bodyguard.
I think I understand exactly how this song made you feel. As I used to say at the time..."This song makes me feel like a cloud in pants". Am I close ? Prepare to use jazz hands for Chant No. 1.
Love this Spandau Ballet record! We grew up with it on vinyl in the 80's. I also love your reaction to saxophone, everytime! Check out Gold & Only when you leave :)
I think we share an addiction … I too am a saxoholic! As others have suggested, your next Spandau port of call should be Gold, Chant No. 1 however is my personal favourite!
This was my brothers favorite band. He passed away in 86 at 17 years old. Spandau Ballet was played at his funeral. So they are special to our family. I grew up in the US and most of my friends didn’t know their music besides True and it’s taken me years to get them to notice this great band.

Through the barracades, gold, to cut a long story short, lifeline, highly strung - all worth a listen.. brilliant band
Listening to Marvin all night long means he is listening to Marvin Gaye
Yes. And probably especially the romantic/sexy songs.
ICONIC 80s Song!
The soundtrack to countless awkward, end-of-the-night, school dances here in the UK. Iconic. 🌟
Ahh,school dances. Brings me back to 1981
There were sone 80s pop musicians who had this jazz vibe like Spandau Ballet, Sade, Johnny Hates Jazz, Level 42 etc
I can't believe that you haven't heard this before but then I realise your age.....😉
This is the eighties and boy did we love this back in the days!!
Happy to see your reactions to this beutiful song!!❤️
Thank you for watching!! 😁
If you’re listening to a song from the 80s, there is a 75% chance there’s going to be a sax solo. Lol. Spandau Ballet is a good group. Check their song Gold.
So beautiful. Grateful to have been there when this great music first came out.

Through the barricades!... immense
Gold so good you named it twice.

Altered Images are a great band! They released an album a few months ago. After almost 40 years since their last one
I like Claire grogan.she was in Syfi sitcom red dwarf as Kristine Kochanski and film Gregory's girl.
Try happy birthday and don't talk to me about love-altered images.
Agreed!
The voice and the sax made this song what it is. ❤️

"Through The Barricades" was the soundtrack to my teenage heartbreaks.
Wonderful song!

Lotta couples dancing to this song at my HS prom. God bless you, little Brother. Thanks for the memories

Such an iconic sound of the 80s!
Great song. And one of the coolest band names ever.
You get it too!!!!. One of my most favorite songs to this day.😊😊😊😊
"Through the Barricades" is another amazing song by them. Tony's voice, the instrumentation and the message of the songs is perfect! It's an extremely underrated song!
Ah you can’t go wrong with spandau ballet.. boy band of my era along with Duran Duran, wham ❤
You and 80s Brit Pop were made for each other. The Spandau boys were all very handsome. I did laugh when you got the vapours over the sax though :) Your next song from them should be 'Gold'.

Classic 80's ballad. It brings me back to 1983 everytime I hear it.
Loving this you're on a British marathon of our music. Keep them coming and keep smiling. Peace from the UK
Great video sir and a great song 🎵 I'm head over heels for this classic 👌 👍 😀 😎
Yay one of my favorite bands I love Spandau Ballet!!

Yes, Tony Hadley's voice is beautiful, like medicine to your soul.. Kemp Bros, Gary and Martin, drummer John Keeble, and Steve Norman on saxophone. Pls also check out " I'll Fly For You" and "Only When You Leave".
Love Spandau Ballet ❤❤....you gotta listen to Through the barricades next 😊😊
Spandau, Duran and Wham a lot with many others all sort of kicked around together in the mid eighties
Great time for British pop❤
Awesome! Keep the 80s stuff coming please! May I suggest The Blow Monkeys " Diggin' Your Scene" for a reaction?
Good choice !!
Absolutely adore 'Through The Barricades', my favourite song of theirs. My cousin was in love with Steve Norman who played saxophone ☺ Also 'How Many Lies' and 'I'll Fly For You' are fantastic songs ❤ xx
You crack me up. You have a great smile. And, you have GREAT reactions!!! Thanks!!!
Thank you so much!! 😊

No problem. It's true!!!
A great song
Oh, this is so romantic. Absolutely Fabulous! Such a treat... 🖤
"True" was definitely their biggest hit in the U.S. Another catchy song by Spandau Ballet is "Only When I Leave."
The 80s in the UK was my favourite decade , watching your reaction to one of my favourite songs was truly heart warming , loved it ! 💗
Thank you so much for watching!
You’re so awesome to watch because you really capture the s essence of the music. I was touched by your reaction to the saxophone too.
My all time favourite Spandau Ballet song is Highly Strung, and you will LOVE the outfits in the video!
You have a good ear - lovely reflections on great music - your smooth voice is a delight
Thank you kindly!
This song, is the definition of a vibe song :)
The perfect Prom song since my days in High School. ❤️
If you love this... you'll love PM Dawn's Set Adrift On Memory Bliss... which samples this song.
This song NEVER gets old. Today's music def needs more sax. Tony was always sexy in his suits. Highly recommend you watch some recent live videos of him. Still sounds amazing.. Please react to Gold. Another favorite of mine from them..
I have to say I have always loved this song but I loved even more watching you react to it! So glad you liked it!
Thank you for watching!! 😊

Love Spandau & saw them live in 1982 I think 😬❤️🎶
Wow! I can’t believe this is new to you! It’s a classic! You must do “Gold!”
Spandau Ballet is great just about all their songs have the sax , so you will definitely enjoy. React to “Gold” , “Lifeline” , “Only When you leave” , “Communication” , “ Highly Strung” and “Round and round” to name a few.
He is staring into your soul :-)
Would love to hear your reaction to their song Through the Barricades... Its epic!..
There are definitely certain songs that I HAVE TO come back to this channel to watch you react to. This is one of them. There’s more good ones by Spandau Ballet as well; do GOLD next. You will of course love it.
80’s classic right here.
my first english song in high school! I´m spanish!
Hahaaaaaa these videos make me laugh!!
You weren't born well if you weren't a teen in the 80s.
His face is hillarious!!! 👌😆
Good choice Pancake
May I suggest I’ll Fly For You next❤
This song was played at every school dance in the 80s
Oh man are you gonna love GOLD!
Spandau Ballet were one of my favorites from the New Wave days. Impeccable recordings. Other suggestions: Lifeline, Communication, Gold, Paint Me Down, and the incredible Chant #1 (I Don't Need This Pressure On). All excellent songs. Great reaction!

Is there anything more 1980s than a white grand piano? Thanks for a fun reaction! I haven't heard this song in years.
Thanks for watching! 😊
Another favorite band of mine from the 80s.., a. similar sound different. pseudo echo! with ‘ listening’. Or ‘ Funkytown’
Through the Barricades 👍
Gold 👍
Also check out a band called "The Midnight" they use alot of saxophone in there music 🎷
Tony Hadley’s voice is spun gold
I think most people will now recommend "Gold" and "Only When You Leave". I agree.
❤ Through the barricades is awesome too
its amazing broh...its a legend
So classy and warm.🤗
...and handsome!😋
I think I understand exactly how this song made you feel. As I used to say at the time..."This song makes me feel like a cloud in pants". Am I close ? Prepare to use jazz hands for Chant No. 1.
The piano from 5:16 "Ain't nothin' but a heartache (Tell me why) Ain't nothin' but a mistake.." 🎶
Beautiful song! Love your reaction!
Thank you so much!
Love this Spandau Ballet record! We grew up with it on vinyl in the 80's. I also love your reaction to saxophone, everytime! Check out Gold & Only when you leave :)
80's Bands with horns, ERth, Wind and Fire, Huey Lewis, Hall & Oates, Chicago, Stray Cats, Tower of Power, Kenny Loggins to name a few.
I could have sworn you had reacted to their other hit ‘Gold’ already, must have imagined it.
I’ll be reacting to “Gold” in an upcoming video 😊
Love your reactions.
Also:
Only When You Leave, Communication, Pleaure, Code of Love❤
This was written about Marvin Gaye. The smoothest song ever.
Great 80's hit
I think we share an addiction … I too am a saxoholic! As others have suggested, your next Spandau port of call should be Gold, Chant No. 1 however is my personal favourite!
Spandau Ballet is a German euphemism describing the movement a body makes when riddled with bullets.
Smile and the world smiles with you. Take care hope you get to UK one day any plans?
You must do PM Dawn Set Adrift on Memory Bliss which sampled this track brilliantly and cleverly.
❤️🙏
Marshmallow dude you are awesome! Always love your videos! Wish you all the best!
Thanks! You too!
