- On todays episode of GROB I revive a home made go cart for some kids in my neighborhood. They stated that their grandfather got it from a junkyard and it never got running. Nice video, great little project that didn’t cost a lot to get going and will keep the kids outside and entertained all summer long. That little cart moves for sure.

Its a gentle start, keep at it - its actually refreshing to not see someone dropping an 850cc race bike engine in, adding a ton of donated parts, adding snow tracks and making a monster thing that none ever uses adn you can't copy without winning the lottery! One day - but you gota start somewhere. You're very watchable and have the right sense of humour - stick at it! :o)

Gotta love the Flames paint job ---- find a way to limit the throttle for these kids ---- that's a busy road right in front of their house --- we had an 8hp similar go kart at the shop to repair (customers came and got it too soon) ---- that thing went 45-50 mph, it was a blast --- these kids need a big field or a network of trails in the woods to drive this thing

Good old Briggs and stratton flathead motor those things are tanks my lawnmower has a briggs flathead and it's close to 30 years old and still runs great.

When you were putting the inner tube in, you should have used talcum powder. You'd coat the tube in talcum powder to act as a dry lubricant that way it doesn't bind in the tire. Then when you have the tube in the tire (after making sure the valve stem is in the right orientation or else it'll pulls itself into the rim when you add air) you would then inflate and deflate it a few times to make sure that inner tube orients itself correctly. The talcum powder helps it to slip and flip into place, inflating and deflating just helps to make sure it orients itself correctly. Then when you're done inflating and deflating, I suggest adding a zip tie to the base of the valve stem and put it on tight, that way it helps prevent the stem from disappearing into the rim if it goes flat.

I grew up there in Davenport off of 53rd and Fairhaven Rd and had a blast as a kid riding in the woods with the neighborhood Sears 50 moped before mopeds where even known about. We would play tag with hedge Apples and the only way you could get caught was by being hit from your friend with one. (OUCH) I think there is still a track off Lorton Ave.
Really that would be awesome to see if it’s still there, and hedge apples definitely do hurt

I built 5 carts, one for each of my grandsons. I made sure that I installed a kill switch by the steering wheel incase the throttle gets stuck wide open.

I used to have a 2 seater. the rings were shot and it didnt have enough power to move two kids. it rusted to death.

To be fair these should be called golf carts instead of go karts. Cuz it's sort of the noise you make when you crash them. Maybe go kart fits better though. It'll make you go straight to the hospital at some point lol
