Aviary, for iPhone and Android. It's just soooo good! I also use Lightroom for iPhone and Android as well. Check it out it works great! Great video by the way!
I wish UA-cam would have existed 15 years ago when I was in college trying to learn the Adobe suites. I've never used Lightroom before and I know this is probably only the tip of the iceberg but I think I can jump right on it to start working on it on my own. And this didn't cost me thousands of dollars in tuition debt. Thanks, Peter! Keep rocking! 📸👍
Mind blown! As someone who's been getting really into photography the last couple of years and something that's just naturally evolved from phone, to entry level mirrorless, to purchasing my first lenses this week, I wish I knew this sooner! The capabilities, the ease! I'm going straight over to get the creative cloud version and get started on making my photos pack more punch! Thank you!!
peter, I say this from the bottom of my heart. I've been through some real trial and tribulations through out my life in the military and my civilian life and your inspiration and motivation through photography has changed and saved my life. I've found a new hobby and passion all because of you man. God bless you man!
I really do love this guy. He's quirky, but not in a forced or overbearing way that I've seen in so many other tutorial videos where the presenters are trying desperately to be cool. What's more, he breaks things down to the point that, not only are they super easy to understand, but it makes me feel to grab my phone or camera and just start shooting. Thank you, Peter! Keep up the outstanding work. Really appreciate it.
You are my favourite.. for literally everything. I search for something..and BANG you’re there, so I watch and its magic! I’m learning a lot, just can’t go ahead and do anything with it until the weather sorts its ass out!
I just purchased the stand alone version of lightroom and I am very excited. Mostly because I am diametrically opposed to paying monthly fees for updates and patch fixes. I already have a car note and rent i DO NOT want another effing monthly payment. (suck it photoshop) but with lightroom I can pay a little less than 150 bucks have a version that never requires monthly payments. And yes Evan I am IT and I do use bit torrents for my video editing tools and movies, but I chose to be a good boy this time for this lightroom purchase. :)
i remember when i first installed Lightroom and i was like forget this imma carry on using photoshop! But since ive been using it for a couple of years its such an incredibly powerful tool! Also...i just had lightbulb moment...! What if you do a some videos where your viewers can send you a raw file and their version. Then we get to see a comparison between their 'style' and yours...! I would love to see how my pictures compare to how you would edit them! :D
I was the same way. LR seemed intimidating, but once I jumped into it and watched a few UA-cam tuts, I was very comfortable with it very quick. It's my go-to app for 90% of my photos now.
I had been using photo shop for edits this whole time. But now will definitely be using Lightroom as it seems to be much more detailed in its corrections, while being more user friendly. I really love the click and slide feature, and the simplistic way they do mask edits here. Thanks for the video
Peter I am addicted to your videos! I'm a newbie photographer, bought my 80D a year ago and am on a wild tear to learn as much as I can. Your videos teach me something new every time I watch! BTW, I love LR. More, please!!!
Mastering the art of photography saves you a lot of time editing. I only use Lightroom to crop, rotate, change WB, hue/saturation and sometimes the exposure. Masking, brushing, adding stuff that wasn't even there in the first place... I would use Photoshop for that. It has a lot more to offer in that perspective.
Thanks Mr. Mckinnon for a great intro to LR. I home school my kid and I just got the Adobe Teacher/Student subscription so she could start to learn some of their programs to further her creative & artistic side as well as prep for the workforce in the future (she wants to design game characters etc. among other things when she grows up). She's also a budding photographer so, I'm learning along with her. I'll be showing her your vid this morning. Thanks once again!
Happy post-pre-fathers day!! just bought your presets today; thank you for your dedication cause details are what matter, thats what has brought you so far.
I was editing a real estate shoot for a client while watching this video in the background and heard you talking about the HSL sliders so I tried and it was exactly what I was looking for in the moment while trying to get the shot back to reality. Thanks dude!
This video gave me the final kick, I am really going to crack down on my love for photography! I have been only using mobile apps to edit my sessions because I thought it did enough, but I am excited to take it to the next level!
I enjoy your content and it's really shocking how much people like to argue about different ideas or philosophies when it comes to editing/not editing. It's art isn't it? I wish people would share opinions and ideas without all of the drama. It brings everything down a notch in my opinion. Why watch a Lightroom tutorial if you hate editing photos? I personally use Lr and Ps but try to be tasteful about it but I still like some of the "wild" stuff that some folks do as well. Everyone has a style and it's all relevant.
Mind absolutely blown. After watching many tutorials this is the most helpful for me. You are an amazing teacher. Thank you very much for making this available.
You are the best person I've EVER seen on YT to learn from ! Seriously, thank you for all the to-the-point not-dragging-on-too-long info - but incl. results learning!! My attention is held from start to finish ! Gracias Mr Peter McKinnon !!!
Peter, Thank you for all these amazing videos. They have really helped me not only to grow my business but they are just fun to watch with your positive attitude and enthusiasm. Keep up the good work mate!
People that complain about the use of editing software is no different than the people who deny the enhancement effect of make up on women. All in moderation. You could never compare a "natural" photo with a well edited one. No matter how good the original, adjusting even one slider in Lightroom surely will make it look better (example Clarity). Sorry to say but a "photographer" that has no interest in editing software and speaks against it could never dream to compete against photographers who do use it. Like night and day comparison.
I'm not asserting that they do not look more aesthetically pleasing, rather that I prefer my photos to look honest. I don't care about racking up likes on instagram, nor do I even post on instagram.
@Chloe Krisst we're not saying you can't shoot amazing photos, I have a few I wouldn't tweak, but for example being able to "turn the lights on" in a window is something you can't control or you'd have to wait forever in order to see and without the ability to wait for the perfect shot, an editing software is a great tool.
I'm just getting in to photography and have heard a lot about photoshop and lightroom and wasn't sure which one to use. This was an amazing video and I appreciate you showing some tips/tricks.

Strewth, I can't believe that so many UA-cam photographers are promoting Lightroom CC. I am still using Lightroom 6, and intend continuing to do so for as long as possible. I refuse to be sucked in to the Adobe corporate model, and start paying them rent. If at any time I upgrade my camera, and can no longer import RAW files into LR, I will look elsewhere.
A lot of people like myself prefer cc. It’s much better to pay a monthly subscription than a ton of money upfront, especially if you use multiple adobe suite software programs. I do graphic design, website development, and photography. So for only $20 a month I get access to every program that they have, even the mobile applications. Considering I use a lot of them, it saves me tons of money. CC also allows you to sync frequently used assets, photos, type, and all sorts of things for use across all applications and devices.
Michael Storm in several short months you have paid more because of the subscription. In a year, would you rather pay $500 up front, or $5,000 at $60 a month? It's the same deal. Paying less for a subscription almost ALWAYS just screws over the customer.
--- I pay 20 a month.. that’s to use ALL of their applications, which I nearly do. Considering the price they used to sell even just one application at before cc, and I get the new version automatically for continuing my subscription, I’d say that’s great for the customer. I haven’t even paid the full price for one application yet, it’s awesome.
This is my first video I have watch by Peter McKinnon. I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to watching all of them. I am a beginner at this and I enjoy taking different photos and displaying them online for my friends and family to see. I hope to someday turn this into a little business for myself. I want to thank you for all these videos and hope to learn a lot from you
Here I am in 2020 looking my way out of my usual life as a corporate finance guy for 12 years and learning a New thing that I actually like.. And I OWE you a lot just from this single Video.. Thank you!

Just getting into Photography and it seems like it's more about how well you can change a picture to make it look unrealistic than it is about capturing a image.
It seems to me that you need to get a nice image (a pretty view etc) then use the program to make it the exact way you want (like adding lights in the window etc)
Thanks for all your awesome videos Pete. I never quite understood the obsession with video and photo correction / editing until I started watching you and seen the amazing things you're sharing. Great job and thanks for turning me on to this new obsession I have. Now to put it to practice and see what I can actually do!
I'm (still) using Apple's Aperture to edit and archive my RAW files. I've always used it and was happy with it, so I never even tried Lightroom. And as long as the app still works, I'll continue using it (even though Apple has stopped supporting the app).
Paused the video to come down here and just say thank you. I just got my new camera (have been using Adobe Creative cloud for awhile now) but not light room. This was super helpful! Never hit the subscribe button faster!!!!
Adobe should give free licenses to students and hobby artists. If we don't use their products commercially, they shouldn't ask for money. The most simple and moral solution for this problem is piracy. I'd like to thanks Ching Liu and all the programmers that are patching and cracking much needed applications for us, the poor, the students, the passionate, the independent.
Across all sites, I've only found Ching Liu's cracks that are fully verified, but the problem is that his latest ones are from 2014. As a student, I am forced to use such cracks because of Adobe's pay model.
By that logic if I'm not racing a Ferrari and just want it to study how to drive they should give me one for free? Dude please. They have discounts for students or you can simply not use the software, it's not like they created it for free or it's a necessity to anyone. Their pricing is high and the monthly fee stupid but if you don't like it(like myself) use something else. If you have a Sony camera for example you can get Capture One Express for free like I did, which will take you a long way if you're really studying.
@toilet brush Thank you very much. I just thought that because IDM didn't show the file sizes, the file was corrupt or couldn' be downloaded. Tried it manually with chrome and it downloaded! Also, I did find appnee among the first search results for cc maker but didn't know whether it was verified or not. You are a life-saver. Thanks again.
@@Coneter Thanks a lot. CCmaker already has everything I might need that are the latest versions, I believe. Will check if sadeempc cracks have lightroom for 32-bit though since ccmaker only has it for 64-bit.
Hey Peter, This Lightroom video was mind blowing 🤯. I am going back to your old videos as I continue my photo journey. Thanks and can’t wait to play in Lr.
Much better algorithms for sharpening, skincolour, dynamic range (esp. for middle format cameras) than Lightroom. So Lr is weaker as C1, but Lr is widely spread and comes with the creative cloud... :)
chrisbackstage I love the color tab in Capture One. Especially the skin tone tab, in a few simple clicks one could fix saturation/hue issues, saves a lot of time later on in photoshop
Bro! Your tutorials are awesome! I am a hobby photographer that has just started taking photos "for real", got my own camera (Canon 80D) and I am SUPER stoked to get this going. Thank you so much for this video and all the other videos! Great job and I hope to get on your level of awesome some day in the future! Until then, keep being awesome!

You can override Instagram's auto-cropping by hitting that little button on the lower left corner of the pic you want to upload. It's the one that looks like two diagonal arrow points. I use it a lot.
Doesn't Photoshop do these things? I'd prefer skipping Lightroom if I can achieve the same results on Photoshop + a lot more. It's a real mess patching all these apps, blocking their access to the web and so on and so forth...
I've been using photoshop for 6 or 7 or so years now and I just discovered lightroom through this guy's videos. Already my pictures look so much better because the settings in lightroom are way, way better than the editing settings in photoshop. Photoshop is still the best for cropping, other effects, overlays, etc, but for purely photo editing the lighting, colors, sharpness, etc. Lightroom has so many more options + the same options as photoshop but somehow better looking and more effective. Like its so good I'm pretty sure I'll never not edit a photo in lightroom before, it's like magic
@@inuyasha1014 I can quarantee you, I can make it look way better with photoshop against you use Lr on any photo you want. Dont misunderstand me, I dont compare Lr and Ps, Im just telling you the reason you think Lr lets you edit better is because you didnt improve yourself at photo editing in Ps
@@tile996 I still use photoshop, I just use both now because lightroom has certain settings and options that photoshop doesn't. I just think that using both is better than just using one, at least for my stuff.
@@inuyasha1014 I respect your edit way. If you like to use both (which is completely unnecessary for me) thats ok, I would like to see some of your edited pictures if you have instagram
From my experience LR is the same as ACR + PS... you get the same results - just using two interfaces as opposed to one. LR is more helpful with organizing, while PS is better for photomanipulation. Also Bridge is good for organizing as well.
You can just renew the trial. Go to programs, find Lightroom, in the Lightroom folder find AMT (folder) at the bottom of that is something called application. Right click that and edit with notepad, find the trial number and change the last digit to a new number and save.
What is YOUR favourite app to edit photos with? How come?

Fazri Gading I'm an Adobe user since the year 2000 😂 oh god ! I'm so old!
Fazri Gading im going to have to jump on light room i thought photoshop was life lol
Baily Stoikoff nice!!
Abdur-rahman Moustapha haha you're like my dad xD
I’m blind but you made me want lightroom anyway. 😂
15 minute video taught me tricks that I just needed and couldn't figure them out on my own. THANK YOU MATE!
Had to turn on that bell notification after this one. My mans a straight savage with these videos !! Respect
Just getting into Photography and it seems like it's more about how well you can change a picture to make it look unrealistic than it is about capturing a image.
Same here. Turns out everyone is just lying as well as possible
It seems to me that you need to get a nice image (a pretty view etc) then use the program to make it the exact way you want (like adding lights in the window etc)
Sure
Wow! Such a valuable " all you need to know about Lightroom " course in 15 min. So excited and inspired to try it all ! Thank you
Happy Father’s Day 2019!!
Watching this on exactly Father's Day 3 yes later 🤯
Love your excitement in your videos.
what happens when you drink alot of coffee daily:
I still prefer Adobe Camera Raw, Bridge and Photoshop.
Danny Kidd same here. Everything he did on this video can be done exactly the same in Bridge/ACR.
Danny Kidd are those less expensive?
Thanks for all your awesome videos Pete. I never quite understood the obsession with video and photo correction / editing until I started watching you and seen the amazing things you're sharing. Great job and thanks for turning me on to this new obsession I have. Now to put it to practice and see what I can actually do!
4:23 "Al'riight" Hahaha I died😂
Amazing tips! I love using lightroom!
I used to use photoshop but when I came across lightroom, it was incredible!
4:50 immediately recognized Passo Giau. I was surprised and happy to see you've been there
I'm (still) using Apple's Aperture to edit and archive my RAW files. I've always used it and was happy with it, so I never even tried Lightroom. And as long as the app still works, I'll continue using it (even though Apple has stopped supporting the app).
you and I have the same watch. I got the metal one back in like 2010. Still my favorite watch.
I use Lightroom for all my photos, that and Photoshop are THE BEST photo editing programs period.
If you use subtitles Pete's intro is apparently "heavy metal music"
This was ridiculously useful!
Paused the video to come down here and just say thank you. I just got my new camera (have been using Adobe Creative cloud for awhile now) but not light room. This was super helpful! Never hit the subscribe button faster!!!!
I unlinked this video just to like it again.
@UCzibohGuy2PcqKJF22RTc6w Do you mean to say 1.2.1.2? Also, none of the links work anymore. Still, thanks a lot for the info.
What about capture one?
Much better algorithms for sharpening, skincolour, dynamic range (esp. for middle format cameras) than Lightroom. So Lr is weaker as C1, but Lr is widely spread and comes with the creative cloud... :)
chrisbackstage I love the color tab in Capture One. Especially the skin tone tab, in a few simple clicks one could fix saturation/hue issues, saves a lot of time later on in photoshop
Sasha Dierer I'd better go with Lightroom, I love the progress than instantly edit hehe
chrisbackstage ''middle format'' 😂
lol medium format xD
This was uploaded last year and I thought it was uploaded today because it’s also fathers day
My new favorite editor!
capture one is a bit quicker than Lr
can you show how to edit gopro photgrphy?
unknown you dont
Brandon McNeill da Vinci resolve does video color grading and is free
Correct the lens distortion and so your normal grading.
Bro! Your tutorials are awesome! I am a hobby photographer that has just started taking photos "for real", got my own camera (Canon 80D) and I am SUPER stoked to get this going. Thank you so much for this video and all the other videos! Great job and I hope to get on your level of awesome some day in the future! Until then, keep being awesome!
been using lightroom for years, but bored of being ripped off. Adobe is going down the tubes too from what I've heard
David Richards What do you mean by that?? Curious lol
@@reaperproductions830 being sued by Dolby for not paying royalties. Unfair pricing. Just doubling the price in some areas to see whether the market will tolerate the price rises. The list goes on and on
Intro is waaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to long. Good vid otherwise.
Agree.
+ this Sqarespace slavery starts to disturb me ....
I think it's great.
Too, not to.
Best LR tutorial I've seen! Thanks, Peter! Awesome job! :)
Has anyone tried the 5 x 4 instagram size yet? I export as 5 x 4, but later on instagram, I still have to crop my photo. Any suggestions?
check if you're doing it correctly 4:5 not 5:4
Same thing is happening to me. Instagram is still cropping it for me, and I've tried 4:5 and 5:4.
You can override Instagram's auto-cropping by hitting that little button on the lower left corner of the pic you want to upload. It's the one that looks like two diagonal arrow points. I use it a lot.
Gingerbeard instagram has a square dimension photos as far as I know.. check correctly
Jesal Brothers Ahh I got it now. I feel stupid lol
Level of awesomeness here is unbelievable!
12:37 you didn´t have to flex on us so hard... Ouch!
I'm still broke, so I keep using fake emails for free trials.
start search some "pirates-stuff" on Internet.
You found an easy place to download it? :)
You can just renew the trial. Go to programs, find Lightroom, in the Lightroom folder find AMT (folder) at the bottom of that is something called application. Right click that and edit with notepad, find the trial number and change the last digit to a new number and save.
haha omg i thought i was the only one to do this.
Renberg funny 🙃... The dollar isn't kind
Shift+Y is why I love this video so much. Always wanted to know how that was done.
You could say that Peter McKinnon is exposed for using Lightroom!
Get it because of how.... oh never mind
