This really is a game changer. Most instruments I use from VST-instruments have problematic frequenties. It took me so much time to fix that. I could not get there with just an EQ. My ears are not trained enough. I always made mistakes. So adding other plugins like dynamic EQ. Or multiband compression. Or SPectral shaping etc... I just could not get there. With Ceiling of Sounds Pro I get there in just 1 minute. It's really amazing. Now I can focus on the creative part of music production. Thank you for making this possible😃
I also have this problem mainly with piano and strings VSTs. How do you use CoS? Is there a preset that works best for you or do you use the ceiling shapers?
@@everlong1175 I never use presets. I just use the noise lines. On a whole mix I have set the red ceiling line to match a reference track and then use the EQ to match it. Both gave some great results. The presets I find not usable for my music.
@@everlong1175 yes it does. But I almost always remove all effects in the VST instruments first. Because I find most eq and compression settings in my vst instruments are over hyped. Then I use Ceiling of Sound to eq it into perfect balance.
This completely changed how I mix. My mixes and production translate so much better, after using this and mix monolith. This is probably the only eq plugin that I use the presets for. lol
Hello.Working with it is really enjoyable and satisfying. It is reassuring to know that we are on the right track. But I would like to know exactly which of these noise frequencies does what.
So far all of that is true, the results speak for themselves when you start to know how to use it. And yes, when you « match » with COS, it sounds great and different ! Two of the best tricks are the « EQ on itself » and « re-conform » after other plugins. Best two-clicks-to-sound-better thing !
Great video! Would you be able to make a video to show how this works in context of a mix? The ceilings are great to conform to but how should these frequencies change when mixed in with other instruments, as there will surely be some carving out to do here? Am fairly new to these plugins and still in experimental stage. Many thanks!
Yes, I would appreciate this too! A bit more in depth for absolute newbies, aligend to a real project. And also how to set the plugin order with other plugins, like analogue emulating EQs, which I use to colour the sounds.
Bought this last night... Amazing work! Thank you for giving us such a life changing tool! I love it but hate that I didn't have this or know enough about the sound color spectrum 20 years ago. I know it's in the works but please hurry on that UNDO button... Just lost all my work on a piano track by accidentally hitting "conform to spectrum ceiling" :(
Sorry for the delay on the "undo"...we changed development companies which slowed it down. That said, there will be a lot of other cool features added that I think you're going to love.
@@ayaicware Thank for the response and info! I beta test for some plugin companies so I know how crazy the workload and process is. Can't wait to see what you're working on!
Much easier understand video than the ones before Thankyou! But how do we know which ceiling curves to use with certain parts of the voice? You know your stuff certainly but for those of us that aren’t into the maths, where do we start to know which curve is for what? And at what frequent it should change to a different curve? And how are the tone colours numbers that you did in another video relevant to this? Thanks
Voice/vocals are actually very easy...don't think in terms of frequency-specific moves...instead see every voice as it's fundamental parts and the relationships between them. You will see the "chest" and "lower throat" bumps of every voice, they balance along white, 1.5 or -1.5...then from the "lower throat" up to the "nose" you'll follow -4.5 or brown...finally the relationship from the "nose" to the "air" will follow pink, -4.5 or brown...depending on if you want/need a more/less "breathy" vocal. That's basically every vocal of every human on earth. 🙂
I've been demoing it today. One thing I really would like is on PC, a CTRL+ or Alt+ or Shift+ lefthold mouse button on the Ceiling Curve nodes so that, when moving a node up or down, the action would apply an inverse slope, e.g., raises/lowers everything to the left, instead of the default behavior where lefthold mouse button raises/lowers everything to the right. COS Pro also definitely needs a redo/undo function.
@@ayaicware Another issue I'm having is on some vocals, there's no nodes inbetween the throat and chest, just a straight line, and I'd like to be able to add an extra node or two so I could make a dip. I'm also trying to use this plugin in Reaper 6.71 and I have had 3 random DAW lockups today when I'm trying to adjust the ceiling curve nodes.
@@Jrel In situations like that you can find the nodes by switching the spectrum smoothing to 25% or 0% for a moment...this will help you locate the chest/throat nodes.
Noise can be tilted in weight increments of 1.5dB per octave in either direction and remain musical. Starting at white noise, the familiar pink & brown slopes are just tilts of 3dB per octave (pink) & 6dB per octave (brown).
@@ayaicware riiiiiiight and 1.5 and 4.5 are mid way between those de per octave (white, 1.5, then pink, 4.5, then brown) ok 👌 i’m getting it better! Thanks for the quick response!
Mix Monolith works great as a gain-stager for your virtual tape plugins and is the perfect gain-stager for all of your analog emulation plugins...which tend to work best when fed a signal @ -20LUFS...-18LUFS if you want to hit them "hotter".
There will be varying degrees on frequency movement from vocalist to vocalist but the mechanics of human sound will always be the same. Every human takes air into their lungs and expels it over vibrating vocal cords in the throat to produce sound from the mouth...every human also has (2) resonation chambers (chest & nasal cavity). This means even though the visuals of the "chest", "throat", "nose" and "air" nodes in COS Pro may fluctuate from human to human, the ceiling balance between them all won't change...in the end it's all just noise governed by noise.

Hi. Do we need to make gain stage independent of this plugin at first *
We are currently working on a few upgrades to COS Pro and an "Auto Gain" is one of the features....all plugin updates are, and shall remain, free.
Feature request : UNDO REDO button thanks
It's on the way...along with many other features.
