Google the word "harlequin", and that's the outfit you love on Lestat. The harlequin character is usually onstage to mock the monied class. Lestat's harlequin mocks his audience. His boyfriend Nicky was alive and unwell, playing the violin like he was sawing it in half while Lestat and Armand were being nasty ho's in the box seats. The man RJ who Daniel met is with the Talamasca, a "Men In Black"- type organization Anne Rice invented to keep tabs on ghosts, vampires, witches, mummies, etc. in her world. He dumped all that stuff into Daniel's files because they're here to help. The Talamasca's motto is: "We watch. And we are always there." Enjoyed you as always!
Ooo, I'm guessing that's how they came up with Harley Quinn's name? And if Talamasca looks for all these different creatures, does that suggest some sort of connection between her books/shows 🤔

Harley's outfits in the comics scream harlequin, while the movie ones are outrageous loud-talkers in the harlequin spirit. Correction: The Talamasca is here to help...themselves...gather more info. Daniel is just so talented that they want him alive to keep helping them. Talamasca's on Mayfair Witches, too (Paul: "Plenty of brooms over at the Mayfair sisters' home." Grace: "He's calling me a witch, Mamaw!"). Louis shows up in one or two of the Mayfair books because...New Orleans. I haven't watched that show because it has different showrunners and reported lower quality. But wtf it hit the Netflix top 10 and "Interview" didn't!!??? They're all psychic detectives with weird paranormal powers of their own.
@tdali8347 hmm I might have to check out mayfair at some point. A friend got me hip to american horror story recently, and I've been enjoying the "Coven" season. And maybe interview didn't hit top 10 cuz Netflix only has 1 season. And s2 is the better one imo

I was startled they did such a good job casting Sartre, seeing as last season's Jelly Roll Morton looked nothing like the real thing and the guy who played Alderman Fenwick looked more like real-life Tom Anderson than the fantastic actor who actually played Tom.

The real Tom Anderson indeed won a seat in the Louisiana House of Representatives. He was also a businessman/criminal dubbed "The Unofficial Mayor of Storyville" for years, even past 1917 when the neighborhood went away. And he looked like John DiMaggio (Ald. Fenwick).🤖
This show is like Vampire Hannibal. Unreliable narrators, people out here playing minds games, narcissists every where you turn, smart people doing dumb things because they've been manipulated to the 9th degree. Oh and hot gay sexual tension no matter how toxic that relationship really is. 🤗

@@byrdxbyte yeah, Lestat has deep deep seated abandonment issues ...there is absolutely no way in hell that Lestat would just up and abandon Nicki.... He damn near almost killed Louis when Louis threatened to leave him for real... There's no way he would willingly leave Nicki out of nowhere... He is stuck with Louis for like 7 years when Louis was extremely depressed ...he would have done the same with Nicki and his mental health issues... I love the gremlins fanfiction so much. He's such a petty bitch. But yeah, he is absolutely having Lestat do things in his story that just do NOT match up with the previous behavior we have seen Lestat displaying in the show.
If Lestat/ Sam Reid had the body of a noted 6 foot one Asian guy called Wei Xeng he would be close to perfect as one can be. Wei is lean but ripped and with Sam's face i can imagine Lucifer would look like that.
If it's your personal taste, then that's fine but I think Sam Reid's physical appearance is really in keeping with Lestat as a character, and actually resembles the physique of many classical paintings of Lucifer. It makes sense for Lestat to be more lean sinew than lean built muscle. The guy you mentioned has vanity ab muscles from working out in the gym, which makes sense for a model but doesn't fit an 18th century man in rural France. Lestat's family were impoverished and they relied entirely on his hunting prowess to avoid starvation in the dead of winter. I won't say more to keep things spoiler free for The Vampire Lestat. Also he and Nicky were close to penniless in Paris. It's a tough level of fitness to maintain so props in advance to Sam for his dedication over the coming years.

The reason lestat didn't know about the gifts of vampires is because his maker didn't tell anything before he died he said this in season 1
