If you liked Venlo definetly also visit Maastricht. This beautiful city is the biggest in Limburg. It is so beautiful and historic! It is also split in two by de Maas river just like Venlo.
I can see what a great city u traveled to. The shops and restaurants. Very relaxed it seemed like. Can wait for next journey. Much love from Colorado USA
You came her only to see the Floriade? 🤣 I live in Venlo. They expected "millions" of people from all over the world coming by plane. They even built a small airfield for that. And a highway, decades in the planning, suddenly got finished to get these "millions" The Floriade was a major financial fiasco though.
Born and raised in this beautiful old city. Pity though that you only visited the city center, 'cause the whole municipality has 2 more city parts (Tegelen in the south and Blerick on the other side of the Maas river), and then a few villages: Belfeld, south of Tegelen, Hout-Blerick and Boekend around Blerick, and (from north to south) Arcen, Lomm and Velden north of Venlo. Arcen is actually a well-known tourist place throughout the Netherlands, Tegelen even has an archeological era named after itself: Tiglien, and then there is an archeological dig just across the Maas river that shows the excavation of a real renaissance fort (built in 1641-1643), including a museum: Fort Museum Venlo! You should definitely come back one day, to see the other parts of this great place.
Oh, interesting! I love visiting Ancient sites, I think it's fascinating. Of course, knowing now that Venlo is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, I won't be surprised to find a lot of these things. It's my first time in Limburgh and will definitely tyr to come back :)
@@TheTravellingFoxes Well, not exactly one of the oldest cities, but definitely one of the oldest settlements. Settlements are mere basic places, not seldomly only a handful of houses and - perhaps - a chapel or an inn.
@@TheTravellingFoxes About 25km south of Venlo is Roermond which I consider way more beautiful than Venlo even though it has only 60.000 inhabitants. Also: if you like shopping there's one of the largest Outlets of Europe (visited by 6 million people a year).By train it's less than 2 hours from Amsterdam (direct connection, even though it is a little further). I think Roermond is the second most beautiful city of Limburg after Maastricht. Lots of very old buildings and also located at the river Maas. Venlo got "city rights" in 1343, Roermond in 1231 and Maastricht even a few decades earlier. So both Maastricht and Roermond are among the oldest cities in the country.
I see you've avoided the German quarter ... top tip : never ever visit when there's a German holiday like May 1st as that's when our neighbours invade en masse. (they also visit on saturdays when the market is there)

Maastricht is next on my list actually!! Looking forward to it! I hope you subscribed so you can get updated on the next one :)

I like Venlo, but I don’t like Maastricht 😅
@@jeanokeunen1203 Yes, Venlo never did emerge from the dark ages.

Thank you! Yes it is a nice town, lots of shopping apparently and good on a Sunday hehe. Next time I will be visiting another town in the same region!
We were in Venlo for a few days in a B&B when Floriade was there. Enjoyed Venlo and Floriade very much. Hi from Canada.

Oh, nice! Are you an expat/foreigner? How is life in Venlo now? :)
As a german it actually was my first dutch city I visited… but It was a long time ago since I last visited it.
Oh interesting! What were you first impressions? I could imagine it was so easy to get to :)

This town has higher crime than others. It has plenty of pedos and sex trafficking. It's not safe for young girls

Hello! What is your favourite place in Venlo?
@@TheTravellingFoxes A street called De Parade... and the best café in Venlo is Bad Piano ( live music with good atmosphere )

Ik ben er vaak geweest en ik heb deze stad altijd leuk gevonden. Over het algemeen hou ik van reizen in Nederland.
i spent a lot of time in Venlo in the 70s & to say i have happy memories of my time there would be a massive understatement, i love the place
You’ve never heard of? I live there my whole life😂
Hahaha for most people visiting the Netherlands I would say 😜
I will be moving to the Netherlands really soon. I can’t wait to explore the country!
