Peter Windsor: They Can't Punish Verstappen For Being A Racing Driver!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- In this interview with @peterwindsor we react to the Singapore Grand Prix we discuss Max Verstappen using bad language in the F1 drivers' press conference and whether F1 were wrong to punish him? How did Peter Windsor handle prickly drivers and which drivers were the most challenging to interview? We discuss whether Lando Norris or Max Verstappen had the drive of the day, and is it time for Red Bull to make a decision on Sergio Perez's future at the team and replace him with Liam Lawson? Have we seen Daniel Ricciardo in an F1 car for the final time and did he make the wrong decision leaving Red Bull in the first place? Did Mercedes make another mistake by starting Lewis Hamilton on the soft tyres or was this informed by the mistakes they had made at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix earlier this season?

Were FIA right to punish Max?
No. and it is not about cursing. It is all about control of the drivers. First he try to attack Hamilton about jewellery than jaywalking the track and now Max.
No, what happened to free speech? If people are offended, that’s their problem.
No. The drivers are a huge part of F1’s success. Let them be real. You lose some of that connection the moment someone starts reciting their media training. Many other sports have rules around what players can say and I challenge you to watch a 30m press conference from any of them. I’ve yet to see a child explode from hearing how the rest of humanity speaks.
No.
Also, Peter makes a good point. English is not his native language. As a native Dutch speaker I do think Max would also use a swear word in Dutch. This is just how he expresses himself. In the Netherlands this is not a problem.
They dumb
How much community service did Gunther Steiner get?
Decades. 😂
He’s cleaning my back yard at the minute 😂
Oooh ..should've checked the reactions first, before I mentioned the swearing of Gunther. That was worth at least a year..or two..community service to say the least. 😂😂😂
Hey, he was supposed to do mine @@mbal4052
He had to play a role in netflix... so that's quite a lot of service, I'd say 😂
Max is never going to say "Well, the car wasn't quite there where it needed to be.." It's totally unnatural for Dutch people to talk like this. We HATE it literally. Sugarcoating when something is wrong is the basis for not being taken seriously
Couldn't agree with you more. Ik neem aan dat jij ook Nederlands bent??? 🤭😉🏎🏁❤️
What you see is what you get en je weet in ieder geval meteen waar je aan toe bent met hem. Dank je wel trouwens, voor je reactie! Hier houden wij van. 😉👌🏎🏁❤️
IK zie niks bijzonders , i dont see any abnormal
So, Dutch people walking around using expletives all the time??? (YOUR WORDS) It's totally unnatural for Dutch people to talk like this, meaning expressing themselves without cursing. ARE YOU SURE???? Doc...YOU ARE NOT TELLING THE TRUTH..so stop it!!!
Just so everyone knows, ted kravitz on his notebook, when analysing the ferrari front wing: stumbled so many times on his words he ended up swearing. So if f1 want to keep a standard, he needs to do community service too. If not, then the FIA has no competence and only had agendas against certain drivers
I don't like Kravitz, but let's not be Karen's and try to push a point... 😅 Everyone swears and MBS is a clown.
@@adrian3355w I don’t have a problem with the swearing, what I have a problem with is some people getting punished unfairly, when others aren’t. If f1 doesn’t want swearing in the sport, it’s got to be a standard across the board. It can’t be one rule for one person and another rule for someone else
@@adrian3355w agreed that everyone swears, but not everyone gets equally sanctioned for it
this isnt comparable. It was very obvious that Ted thought he was recording a piece to be played later, he did not think he was live.
I think there is the world of difference between swearing in the heat of a moment and doing so in a formal, organised press conference.
I think to slap him with a fine of a few $k is fine to make the point ... the community service thing is where they really went off the rails
Chat between drivers during the race….without beeps.. that’s brilliant
That would be a disaster
FIA will hand out death penalties for the drivers and the teams if that is the case.
I’ve come to enjoy these post race analysis so much! Always a pleasure to listen to Peter Windsor and you are always the perfect host
This means a lot, thank you.
All credit due to PW, however. 😁
@@Cameron-CcActually you deserve a fair bit of credit! You allow the guy to talk and don’t ask stupid questions! It’s a rarer quality than you’d think
The FIA are breaking in the conversation between driver and Mechanic. Let the FIA get loss with the idiots to punish drivers. It is sport and get real!
Max’s community Service: high pressure spraying liquid manure on the directors of the FIA.. ?
He MUST exercise self-control...
also must add man do i miss ziggo sport they would have added fuel to the fire like no mans business in this whole community service saga
Piastri can help every race, all he needs to do is finish before Max every race to make a difference in points gained
Lando did two mistakes luckily it didn't cost him this race as he had a superior car and the Ferrari's were not in contention after a poor qualifying. These mistakes will come to bite him soon.
God the hype this channel gives me towrds f1 is the best! Keep it up Cam, we are watching!
Let's go Darcy. This comment means the most! 🍻
Hi. Peter, i think you are as Filosofical as an ex teamleader can be. .love that. What i miss is your opinion on the, in my view, hypocrtical values the FIA has: Endorsing Steiner for the sake of sensation and pissing on a driver, a three time world champion, who uses the f wordi at a Fia 'show' As Max said: if you do Note like it then do not send the conversations between driver and engineer. Congrats for your discussion partner on his first reaction on the FIA show after qualification :tbe post interviews. Loved it!!!
Greetings Henk from Holland
Red Bull were not “the best team” when Daniel left. Merc had won five consecutive championships and Ferrari were better as well.
These end up being Peter Windsor monologues with the odd question from Cam and grunts of agreement, it feels abit awkward.
I think it’s great.
Max would make a fantastic banger racer!
If that Arab boss guy cant handle it he should just wear earplugs as we should not allow one countries rules dictate the rules for the rest of the world. The whole punishment thing is completely fucked
They can though. That's the damn problem.
Why should any driver get off social media just because suliman is offended .
Lewis started on scrubbed softs is Cameron aware of this?
I am aware.
Watch Jeddah '23.
And see what Lewis said afterwards.
Biggest theme of the WE? The lizard maybe..
The moment Max just wanted to drive very well, amongst all the hotchpot between Jos en Christian, he won my true sport heart. I didn't like him, still don't. But his statements are from his heart. You never see that.
Look up some videos of Max outside of racing because Max is a crazy CRAZY! competitor and yeah he will say things with adrenaline rushing and people say that's Max! You can see who he really is if you want to look.
I dont understand why everyone's talking about lando? I think Oscar might be the better driver 😅
Fact - MAX is NOT the FIRST nor ONLY driver to win the WDC without winning the most GPs in the season.
Mansell won twice as many races as Piquet in 1987 but Nelson was far more consistent. Nigel broke his back in Japan and Gearhard won the last two races. Piquet was world champion.
Clown Pack Performance made a new video saying "Max Acting Out". LOL
At his strongest,Lewis used to drive around 2.5 seconds in front of whoever was in second place. This caused least tyre degradation and least chance of making a mistake. “Lando, Less is more!!!”

How can 1 man know so little, oh yeah, hes a Max fan.
Mercedes knew they couldn't win the race & took the risk on the soft as that was there only chance & they admitted to that. Lewis didn't hold up Gorge, when lewis pitted, gorge didn't close the gap on Max.
Ricardo had to move, its hard for the better driver to be number 2 & no driver wants to be in a toxic environment.
since Ricardo managed to beat Max, its clear Redbull would be winning right now if he was in the car.
What I love most is that Peter and Cameron are able to talk so respectfully about a driver like Max or Alonso when they are both predominantly Lewis Hamilton fans, I miss the fairness from a lot of modern fans nowadays (not just from a specific driver fanbase or anything) but it’s brilliant listening to these two talk about these topics!
Hahaha Peter hates Lewis. All Peter does is big up Max & make excuses for him. Remember it's wrong when ralf Schumacher accidentally swore, but he's got an excuse for Max choosing to swearing.
@@chrissearle6176You’re delusional, mate. What a bs!
@@chrissearle6176 Max is not the only one swearing. All the drivers, except maybe Lewis and George. There is only no drama made of it
Cameron is the person who shows the most hate towards a driver ( Leclerc) i don't know what fairness you're talking about
@@treapyoney5886 What are you doing here then?
Max is in my opinion what you want a racing driver to be. He’s not fake he doesn’t self censor and you know he’s giving you his genuine self when you hear from him. So many drivers put on a fake persona for the public and that makes me 😷.
nobody is real among the drivers
Yea he's too good for f1. He just says whatever the F he wants. He pushes no agenda, propaganda or any "message". F1 is way too manufactured, can't do this because its aggressive, cant do that because its offensive, cant say this, cant shut up about that. It's a soap opera for teens.
When you have to run a billion dollar business with many sponsors you will understand why it is prudent to carry yourself with decorum
And he puts the third fastest car on second place. By not making mistakes.
@@terryasamoah4874 This is more about sports bosses wanting the starts to be their role model en express or represent their views. But drivers are their own man and their own role models. If you want them to speak their mind and not just reproduce what PR prepared for them, you have to allow the occasional slip of the tongue.
It's also a global sport and business. That everyone has to speak English does not mean everybody has to internalize English prudishness.
If Red Bull try to have Max answer George Russell style, he's gone. Us Dutchies have no rules on what you can say in a broadcast. And be honest, that camel driver that corrupted his way to the top of the FIA, should go [censor] himself.
Does he have a license for that camel I wonder 🤔

Why are these “swearing words” f?ck and sh?t …. I mean everyone does them. Most normal actions in the world. Just shows how ridiculous we are as people,…I think.
Everyone does NOT use those words. Yes, you are ridiculous to try to speak for everyone. They are supposed professional drivers. Therefore they (He) should ACT accordingly.

@@rolandvantol2338 I get it in the heat of Battle. But these races are broadcasted to a wide range of audiences to include Children. Therefore, there needs to be some ground rules in place to keep things under control, that's all.
Does that mean the FIA chairman finally gets repercussions for his ridiculous scandalous statements?
Bunch of greedy hypocrites
F1 is already overdone with PR. Team radios are few of the ways we see some driver personalities.
Wish they bring back the driver briefings. FIA as always is trying to fix what is not broken
Peter and Cameron may not realize this, but this stance against broadcasting swearing words is typical for English speaking countries, like British and American. Other countries like the one Max is representing do not have any such rules on television and contrary find it rather hypocritical these much used words in daily live are not allowed.
I don't care where MAX comes from. There have to be some rules in place to keep things under control. I understand a word here or there in the heat of battle. Nevertheless, these professional drivers are performing before a broad audience including children. Therefore, they should conduct themselves accordingly. No one wants to hear expletives all over the radio. It doesn't ADD to the experience/excitement.
I dont care about swear words, welcome in the real world. I can understand it if you attack some ppl with swear/nasty. I can understand the argument but the most basic swear word for something that not good. Not gonna make ppl better or worse.
@@EskimoBob1337 Hello Bob. You ARE NOT the world. YOU don't care, and that's OK. Nevertheless, YOU can't speak for everyone else. As I stated before, I get the Occasional swearing in the heat of battle. But there have to be some ground rules. I personally don't want to hear a bunch of expletives all over the airwaves. It simply doesn't ADD anything to the excitement. Just Curious, do you walk around using expletives all the time?? If so, why??? If Not, why???
@@snappr2523 Get Fucked. Don't watch it. Watch cartoon Network. You are not the world either.
@@snappr2523we don't use swearing all the time because words have meaning, so we reserve them for when the meaning is needed. Max used the swear word correctly.
Hearing words appropriately used does not harm. People talk about children, but I don't see how children hearing swear words is harmful. Teaching kids to use appropriate words for appropriate situations is the job of parents and my kids just hearing words never caused any problem for me.
Why are team principals not been punished for violant behaviour , like toto smashing headphones while kids are watching???
But that's what we want to see. Nobody on the paddock is an AI robot. Somehow this puzzles the FIA.
"cough cough Gunther"
Because they're human.
They are f1 drivers, the swears are bleeped. It's not a second language thing either..english speakers use the swears too. The fia need to leave the drivers alone, the ridiculous shit is unacceptable.
What is your intrigue with swearing? Does it get you off???? It makes you feel powerful??? What does it do for you? They are small-framed drivers for peak's sake. There is nothing about them that says TOUGH. How about they drive the car and stop complaining. Using expletives over the radio doesn't help their cause of getting the car in the winner's circle.
Ever heared of adrenaline/in the heat of the moment?? Or putting your life at risk every single time stepping into a car that goes 300+km an hour. Don't tell me you've never sworn whilst driving in traffic, for example. They are human..so yeah..they swear too, same as us , just in different circumstances. And againI say : FIA decides what gets broadcasted and what not. So if they decide to broadcast something which includes swearing, it's totally on them. I don't understand why they broadcastthe radiocontact inb the 1'st place. It's not for us to hear but for the drivers and their engineers.😉@@snappr2523

i see him having a rather successful future in formula one after a sabbatical perhaps a bit like oscar piastri in ‘22
You mean like Lewis with his PA and bodyguards and his always politically correct behavior:-) How can you keep insisting that Perez would be a very good second driver next to Max? Max has literally had almost non benefit from Perez the entire season! How many times has Perez qualified next to Max? Bottas... that guy was an example of an excellent second driver!
max is the purest form of a racing driver he lives and breathes this it doesn’t have to be formula one it just has to be competitive and to his liking and enough to quench his adrenaline thirst he could walk away whenever he likes in my eyes and it would be a crying shame and a great loss

The way you guys can express yourselves about my favorite hobby is very enjoyable to watch.
I've been a Max fan since he started (F1 fan since +/-1996 ) and honestly I feel like this is one of those potential GOAT seasons again. Keep. it. up.
Lando was far from faultless, he nearly took himself out by hitting the wall twice or three times, so very lucky he didn’t DNF. The team had to keep telling him to focus and drink to stay hydrated.
He was driving away at a second a lap at one stage of the race. The near misses were happening on tyres which were going off, and also when he had to go offline to overtake. That can happen anytime, especially on a circuit like this.
the front wing drama really wasnt all that. He locked a brake, but he was going at a crawl by the time he reach the barrier - it was never race ending given the lead he had. The rear incident was a bit more dicey
here in the netherlands is it a normal reaction if somethings not going how you want than whe says i fuchts it or i fuchs it up hahahha thats a normal reaction but in the english its a bad word
It's normal everywhere... Which is why all of this is so stupid.
They should know by now that Max is a pure racing driver and he will die on that hill. For that he deserves all the praise
Lando was nowhere near faultless?! Twice atleast he almost threw it away.

Thanks Cameron for providing these podcasts weekly. The chemistry that Peter and yourself have is admirable and a great sight to see.
@Lukass12891 … a great sight to see but your photos have dropped into the slot and there’s a small queue forming outside. lol
Having the drivers talk to each other over the radio would be brilliant - I can already hear Max saying to Lando "i'm coming for you mate, watch out for that wall"
It'll never happen though, the drivers would need separate buttons to talk to individual drivers or they'd be talking over each other and there's no way the Teams would want their drivers fiddling around with screen menus just to trash talk.

Not sure I do agree with Peter’s logic. Reliability yes … but pure stats would suggest that Mc Laren will encounter reliability issues somewhere in the next races.. RB had their bit already.
I like Lando alot, but he almost wrecked his car twice.
I blame the tv show for airing the messages full of swears. They could just not replay it. It’s not hard.
I agree, I even saw a short clip from the official f1 channel of the part of the interview Max got the punishment for. I guess Liberty Media and FIA need to sit around the table and decide which direction they want to go.
Concerning drivers having open coms during the race, that would be incredibly problematic in so many ways. It's not because it's difficult technically. I can't believe Windsor is being serious here.
It wouldn't serve any real purpose beside entertainment.
There certainly would be a lot of community service afterwards though.
A like for you Sir. No Diddy.
Take that, take that, take that.
OMG and he sure took it! 🤢😂
Why do I think he’s talking about Aston Martin and Lance when he was told to provide ? In advance. Stroll just isn’t doin enough in that car at all. Haas can’t afford that many people, it’s gotta be papa stroll footing that bill.
Everytime Max is overtaking someone he would go Du du du du.....

Danny Ric should be told like a Greek mythology tale as a warning to all young people who have it all and throw it away believing they could do better.
Golden Idea! Let them speak!!!! During the race: epic!
Why the heck would you every censor a driver speaking during a conference. They bleep out the swearing. Sky does this right during the End of race driver cool down room. If one of the drivers swears, sky apologizes for any colorful language. This is sufficient. Expecting a human being who is passionate in the heat of the moment not to swear is frankly stupid. Its wearing emotions on your sleeve. A lot of high intensity people do that. Max should not have been sanctioned for swearing. Community service by the FIA, If i was max I would skip all the conferences. Hell with the fines. Or do what he is doing "No comment" that sticks it too them.
If the FIA have a rule that you can’t swear in their press conference, than they have the right to enforce that rule. From my understanding, he was punished for swearing in the FIA press conference.
The press conference isn't broadcast live. It's beyond silly to punish Max for this. Also, if we're concerned about what the kids will see, maybe we shouldn't promote crypto gambling (ie Stake)?
even easier answer dont swear when not under pressure , when in press and public interviews dont swear ...thats generally what the world does
I can't tell you how much it irritates me when a driver says anything stronger than "poot" and the commentators immediately have to apologise to sensitive snowflakes for the language. On the other hand.... Kids watch F1
Can't punish Verstappen? They can, and they will.
IMO, the first person who should be censored for questionable language is not Max, Yuki or any driver in the grid or team personnel. Is Mohammed Ben Sulayem. Have you ever seen the crap he posts on social media? Or better yet, have you seen the absurd things which come out of his mouth? A few curse words are childs play next to that. The so-called FIA President should eat his own dog food and policy his own language before he even thinks about policing others.
My other question is just HOW any driver is going to talk to any other driver without dialing in some sort of ID code on the already full-up steering wheel?
Unless there's a proximity sensor which allows any chat between two or more cars - I can see fun and games happening with a cluster of cars. The other solution would be a sort of, "Hey Siri" to awaken the system, only the car's number or driver's name initiates the chat.
Mr Windsor would make a mean TP nowadays. Top draw stuff even while non-eyes... ontop of Mr Cameron CC's top tier verbiage.
21:21" - I wonder if he's talking about Hulkenburg? - 'Never been much of a leading driver": which means he's been there for some time - on-and-off.
Max as spoken English from being a child he knows very well what it means and the context he's using it in, he's not a kid so Peter stop using this as an excuse, it isn't. Yuki had an excuse in his early days but has eased off. Nevertheless, if people received community service in civil cases for swearing billions of people would be in court, a ridiculous denial to free speech. Punishing the driver of his standing is ridiculous & FIA is bringing itself into disrepute
Why does Cameron always say max Middle name ?, its just weird 🤔, just say his first name
The GAP. After Miami 52 points - after Singa. 52 points. Dear Lando did not make any gains in the last 12 races. How much will he win in the lasting 6?
FIA don’t plan with the formula 1 drivers. It’s the top off the top. More respect for these fantastic racers .
As long as the BONESAW SAUDIES are in F1 it will be a clown show….
Total criminal poison.
Not so sure Red Bull needs Perez's 40 million.
Point is this wasnt in the heat of battle but in a press conference, then again he's dutch and i know from personal experience they view the use of english swear words very differently from native speakers, hot verdommer!
Hes a racing driver..hes not being paid to drive his mouth!
Does Windsor really think the softs were Hamilton’s idea?
Good or bad motor racing needs drivers with personality thats why we follow the sport. Nothing worse than an interview with a scripted zombie that constantly thanks their sponsors.
And remember, Guenther Steiner propelled the Netflix series with his memorable F-bombs!
I find it a shame that they think there culture is better than the Dutch. And the kids use that words less than kids from the UK and USA.
The FIA presedent imposing his personal beleifs or morals can leave if he wants
