- 'What we want is more learning in schools and less activism in schools', prime minister Scott Morrison yells after being asked a question about school students participating in a climate change strike. Greens MP Adam Bandt asked if the PM would 'listen to these kids, who are demanding your government to keep coal in the ground?' Morrison's response was that they should stay in school and leave politics to those 'outside of school'

Exactly, we should be going to school, not striking for you to do your job. SO DO IT.
Then I guess we will just let the polar bears die
@Calorie counterB im pretty sure they meant that if he was doing his job we wouldn't have to go on strike
@@believer_5818 I realize that you have been told what to think by your teachers but think for one second..Australia has a population of about 30 million..China and India have a combined population of 2 billion..if Australia goes down the road that climate change activists want, we will have to abide by a lot of economic sanctions whereas China and India will not. To put it simply, we will become poor. And still have only a tiny impact on climate change..maybe ask your teachers what they think about that
Oh yeh, we're just gonna let our planet underwater. OK ok, maybe that's what you wanted.
@@mrirfanangyt7525 Twitch, maybe learn to write correct English before tackling climate change..that would actually be an achievable goal. I assume you're saying that the seas are going to rise and that the land on earth will disappear? Do you actually believe that?
They literally just said “we see you have a problem, but we don’t want you to do anything about it, let us handle the problem.” No, that’s the problem, you’re the problem!
Yay. Strike day
@@101shanep i disagree
@Mark Novak imagine a world where there were never protests or strikes. A world where nobody ever spoke or stood up for the rights of others. Others that are not even born yet. That world would be a diseased polluted cesspool. Is that the world you want for your offspring?
@Shane. End of year buddy. Seems like they are more educated then yourself. Give me your sources for proof there is no damage caused by humans?
@Mark Novak. Their future.., you look over 50 what do you have to loose ?!
And this is exactly why children and young people are striking. Politicians who don't understand.
VioletEclipse a child has better visions than any other politician. Also the politicians only care about themselves
VioletEclipse the politicians under stand but they still do it for money
The children have more of a motive to act, because it is their future, scomo has no future, why should he care about anything else but his job.
@@Eric-ye5yz Well than why don't they turn off the air conditioning and heat in the schools and make the little turds walk of they really thing they're saving the planet?

The problem is big enough, to call for the shutting down of power stations.
“We want less activism in school” well we wouldnt be protesting and striking if u actually just do ur dam job
@Dirty Dan remember a few decades ago Scientists concluded that the world would end in 10 years well guess what happened.
@@louispconstant6624 hi there and yes they have the answer, young people know exactly how the climate crisis cah be solved and have made it very clear, to help stop climate change, we need to substitute coal for solar power and wind turbines, we need 100% renewable energy by 2030 and we need to lessen the farming of animals. So please, get your info straight before u comment something like this.

@@lavanniek Link or it didn't happened.
As a student and part of Australia’s next generation I find it disgusting that my government does not want us to speak up for what we want to change. I also feel blessed and thankful that so many people stand with us to create a cleaner, greener and healthier future for generations to come. Thank you to all those brave people who stand beside and with us.
😃👍👍👍
You have been conned..... Like the year 2000 millennium bug that was going to crash all the computers..... Another expensive hoax.....
As a student and part of Australia's next generation, I don't think I should be used to spread politics because most people my age don't know anything about politics in the first place. I would prefer if I was in the classroom LEARNING instead of being treated like a puppet on protest.
@Kieran. It wasn’t compulsory ✌️
@Stuart. Informative 👍
What they want is not for kids to learn but for kids to become mindless robots that don't care whether or not our environment will be safe to live in in 10-50 years time.
Oooooh no he did not just try and dismiss people trying to protest against climate change
This aged badly. I'm in awe of this man still having his job.
Bravo Kids.

@@koala2075 80% of our energy comes from coal and gas. Give it 50 years.
Personally, I think it is a disgrace that Scott Morrison forbids us to use our rights to speak even though we are students. Therefore, I totally agree with Adam Bandt, that the politicians do not do enough and it is a failure of the government.
IF YOU WANT US TO GO TO SCHOOL THEN DEAL WITH THIS FIRST
a. ham exactly. They say they understand but they don’t do anything about it.
What we want is more learning in the government! And more activism too!
The young kids are protesting because they want a future.
If the kids and teens hadn't decided to go striking during school time, but in their free time neither you , nor anyone else would be talking about it right now.
How TRUE!!!
I loathe Scott Morrison. He's dangerous and in the same league as Trump and Bolsanaro. He gives me the creeps and the worst thing to ever happen to Australia.
He is an amoral narcissist, who must GO..
Bye bye Skotty.
@James Celtden I don't care about jihadists, we are much more likely to be attacked by some moron on ice or mowed down by a drink driver. Don't get me wrong law enforcement should be pursuing this but no need to be addressed at the political level. Bill Shorten is nothing more than a fraudulent little poser boy but the LNP deserve to be obliterated for decades. A thrashing is their only way to reform.
I went on a children's march in Stroud, Gloucester. They called themselves Conscientious Protectors. They have my support 100%.

I did'nt even miss anything in school that day because our teachers aloud us to strike and walkout because they knew this issue was getting serious . Why would we go to school if were not gonna have future in the end . Whats the point 🤷♀️
Not only is this coming from someone who was in hawaii last year during the fires, but it's obvious that he thinks it's too late to solve the climate, so he'll live in a polluted world for the rest of his days...
Euh... hello i am french etudiant can you resume me the speech pls
If it’s a very real and serious issue why are you still doing it ... ?
He is absolutely right. School should educate, not manipulate!
IF IT DEMANDS THE ATTENTION OF GOVERNMENTS THEN GET OFF YOUR ASSES AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT
Scott Morrison, democracy much!? 🤨🤔😉🙄
Democracy involves people of legal age voting, not children skipping school to yell.
Your logic is absurd.
@@PsychonautTV "Democracy (Greek: δημοκρατία dēmokratía, literally "rule by people") is a form of government in which the people have the authority to choose their governing legislation."
Protests are kind of an excellent example of democracy and freedom of speech in action. How do you expect things to change if we never say what we believe is wrong.
Your logic is absurd.
I went to the SS4C today, I am so proud of everyone who is brave enough to have a say in OUR future! It's sad that 12 year Olds are more mature that the government.. WHO IS WITH ME??!!

LETS GOOOOOOO ADAM
Did scott just say he wants less activism and political awareness in schools?
School teach kids to take responsibility. Now kids are taking responsibility gor their future.
Anybody who won't question the climate science needs their heads checked.
This makes me ask- did
Scot morrison even get a education cause he literally said he’s going to do nothing about it
His defence kids should go to school, well that’s just pathetic
Well I’ll tell you what ScoMo. Well keep missing our classes until you listen.
Why study if we might not have a future..?? Wasted time, this is exactly why people should strike.
This is my prime minister... And I'm proud to be an Australian because of him!
Gabrielle Tittel an informed taste as well
WELL MAYBE IF YOU DID YOUR JOBS WE WOULDN’T HAVE TOO!!
How about you get back to work
There would be more learning in schools and less activism if money and power seeking politicians had taken climate change seriously and were able to see things beyond their ego
Scott Morrison is my Prime Minister. Kids go back to school. Teachers start teaching and stop indoctrinating.
The protest is not organised by the schools. The students are standing up to a government that is putting profits above the environment.
@@wade6759 Do you deny students are being indoctrinated.
Hay, hay Christine. Teacher wants job too you know, just like climate scientists. Default on mortgage & the bank, armed with warrants & people in uniform with guns (all free from the same government) come, pay you a visit
KGB eat your heat out!
You are a huge hypocrite. You do know what indoctrinate means? Maybe you should be the one going back to school. You argue that we accept one set of beliefs uncritically, but you preach we accept yours under the same circumstances? I expect to see a paper containing indisputable evidence that finally puts this global argument to rest. Lets say you are correct, you claim we should return to school. Back to the exact place we are being indoctrinated? I see that as another reason to not attend, and continue protests. And if i were to think critically, a reason to not follow your logic blindly.
@@Kitsune-th1st Of course students don't have a future. Name a single employer who wants to employ anyone? You have a job because it has not been automated yet.
In the future most political tasks & teachers work will be automated too.
Oh, & of course the climate is changing, it always has.
Glad you're with it Fox?
So the message is, leave care of the climate to politicians who represent coal interests and corporations.
In this video from Parliament, Scott Morrison essentially denies the essence of democracy.
A parliament is only part of the process. A democratic government is there to serve at the will of the people. It is a civic duty of the people to express their will to the government, especially on important issues. Voting for representatives is only a very small part of that conversation between people and governments.
School students learn civics as part of their curriculum. The protest was an excellent example of a practical class in civics and a real conversation with government.
The government just wants everyone to shut up about it.
Pretty sure going to school is a civic duty as well. I think activism is important, but an education is more important.
ScoMo: "Climate Change is a Big Issue"
Also ScoMo: *"ThIS IS CoAL!"*
Scomos got to go, scomos got to go
Sounds like Scott Morrison needs to go back to school.

ha no I'm going idc
If School was to learn, then Parliament would be to change things. Why are you wasting your time criticizing 'kids' for taking action, if you are truly willing to make changes.
ScoMo should go back to school him self
Yes, the kids and their teachers should go to school. If they feel they should actively do something then they should do it. A few suggestions would be to walk to and home from school, take the bus or train instead of mummy's or daddy's car, hang up the mobile phone, take up gardening, make their own lunches, turn off the lights, stop wasting water, put litter in the bins. Other suggestions would include to critically analyse what the climate alarmists and the climate catastrophicians are saying and listen to the other side for once. Stay away from unreliable renewable energy unless you want to live with power outages and freezing winters. Of course, in Australia, you might not know much about how cold it can be in winter. Try living above 44 degrees north in America or Canada, and above 53 degrees North in the British Isles. Then see how unreliable renewable energy is. You want to live? Then breathe. That's co2 you're exhaling.
Finally, an informed and educated person in this comment section!
How will children go to school in 100 years when the government hasn't made sure we leave a safe environment for the next generation. You are creating a burden for the children! Do something about it...now!
In 100 years the school will be a eco-system for the fish.
What’s the point in going to school if there’s no future to grow up in
"Brave and courageous kids"
kenny the brave ones stayed at school and didn’t follow the crowd or leftist teachers.
They are really saying "I want to pay more tax" ( now that's indoctrination?)
Hate how they use kids in these sort of situations just like in political advertisements it’s just wrong, they should be in school.

Well said scott
I skip lessons to hang out with friends. How is my future, the countries future. Not worth a few (to be honest relatively worthless) lessons.
Because its teachers dogma being projected through our children mate.
Bop-ya Good and that's meant to help your case how? If that's true it sounds like I should be skipping even more school. Demanding even more action be taken by the government.
I have a case....?
You case then...lol.... is Tax funded schools can skip classes to protest.....
As a Tax payer I would instruct teachers to cease and desist.
Protest on there own time and hopefully with some facts.
Bop-ya Good and why would we do that? we would not have gotten the attention and reaction that we got if we didn't do it on your money and schools time. When a nations children begin to act in this way you know the leaders screwed up somewhere. I don't presume to have the answer to global warming. But fossil fuels are limited and renewable energy is a lucrative industry and so at the least I can boost the future economy. My teachers told us not to protest anyways. This was a student organised event. I'm not here to argue about climate change but on how student voices are being brushed off and muted by the government.
School would not be "turned into parliaments" if you dealt with climate change, stop blaming others for your actions!
So much for conservatives' LIES about standing up against big government & fighting for one's rights.
Aghh! What's the point of studying for a future that doesn't even exist if we don't change the way we are living now
Now they dont have school to go..
Not if the government takes action (scomo announced a plan to combat climate change this week).
Bruh he's acting like missing out on 1 HOUR OF SCHOOL is like they are missing out on an entire month.
If he is wanting us to go back to school why doesn’t he just try to stop climate change because then we go back to school for them and us and the world might follow
Scott, people are sick and tired of mediocrity. Please raise the bar. Every sentence you uttered was plain and simple and therein lies the problem- it was just plain and simple. Any 7th grader in a debating team could utter verbatim what you said. Please also don't deny that your rhetoric was very basic in it's logic. Let's also agree that any 12yo would be able to point out the merits of kids staying in school like you did. Stating the obvious needs to become a MEME as we are all guilty of it and we all need to be reminded of it. You may not realise this, but stating the obvious is why people don't take politicians seriously and hence why kids are taking days off school to protest. You swept the topic under the carpet. If you used your brain and came up with some novel ideas to fix climate change, I might not have viewed you like that of a 12yo.
The demise of those who neglect their youth is not only imminent but well deserved.
Our schools shouldn't be involved in any protests at all. They should remain neutral on any political or religious issues.
Climate Change isn't really something that can only be solved outside of school... Has he been to any Geography or whatever other people call it lesson ever?
And what is the answer to climate change?
Missing lessons at school?
