  • The Nakasendō Train 2020 (中山道トレイン) is a express train service in Japan operated by Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central), which runs between Nagoya and Narai.
The Nakasendō (中山道, Central Mountain Route), also called the Kisokaidō (木曾街道), was one of the five routes of the Edo period, and one of the two that connected Edo (modern-day Tokyo) to Kyoto in Japan. There were 69 stations (staging-posts) between Edo and Kyoto, crossing through Musashi, Kōzuke, Shinano, Mino and Ōmi provinces. In addition to Tokyo and Kyoto, the Nakasendō runs through the modern-day prefectures of Saitama, Gunma, Nagano, Gifu and Shiga, with a total distance of about 534 km (332 mi).
Unlike the coastal Tōkaidō, the Nakasendō traveled inland, hence its name, which can be translated as "中 = central; 山 = mountain; 道 = route" (as opposed to the Tōkaidō, which roughly meant "eastern sea route"). Because it was such a well-developed road, many famous persons, including the haiku master Matsuo Bashō, traveled the road. Many people preferred traveling along the Nakasendō because it did not require travelers to ford any rivers.

This train is a special express train planned for the Nakasendo tourist project.
The Nakasendo is one of the main ancient roads that were used until the Edo period, and it has become a tourist attraction with old post towns along the route.
This train was run in a special schedule. Moreover, this train does not usually run on this Chuo line.
Hence, railfans gathered to take rare photos.
Aside from that, the traction motor sound on this train (Toshiba GTO-VVVF) is good. This train is called the 373 series, and the motor sound of the 383 series is cool too.

Is that why the train was running slowly through the Clear signals?

@@Touchybanana Yes, it is. This train ran between regularly scheduled trains, so it could not go very fast.

Excellent (but seems extremely slow for an Express service.) Without a doubt, this has to be one of the best cab ride channels on UA-cam. 🐨🇦🇺

Why are there so many people taking pictures of this train from the station platforms? Was there something unusual about it?

That's to alert track maintenance workers of the approaching train.
[ under testing , Around June of next year, it will flashing ( switching On and Off ) ]
At Nagoya station , There are many points(switches) and may trains , so they never know where the train will go.
In addition , the train watchman will carry a tablet with him to obtain information.
Because there's been an increase in the number of freight trains being delayed , and personal injuries....

New information : I saw it in operation yesterday at Nagoya station.
The train was running on flashing tracks. I saw it from a distance at night, but it was bright.
