If I were going to compile a list of quintessential 90’s songs- this would definitely be on there.
Mazzy Star - Fade Into You
@@elegantirony78
Summertime - The Sundays
6-Underground. Alternative. The 90’s. Miss it so much. I grew up on MTV in the 80’s. This song was on heavy rotation on MTV.
What a great choice! Great react as always.
6 underground ,spin spin sugar, and low place like home are on constant rotation for me .
Yes , she had her teeth filed because she’s a part of the vampire goth scene
Great band. The harp part was sampled or recreated from an older James Bond movie, can't remember which one though lol.
Also, this is not the album version. This is the Nellee Hooper edit/remix. The album version is slower and is missing the " 1 2" vocals.
I doubt he'll know who Nellee Hooper is but he was a member%producer of Soul II Soul who are worth a listen to as well, especially the Rose Windross track, but can't remember the name. I think her brother was Norris "the boss" Windross who was a great dj back in the day
@@karmannghiaman1041 That's also literally the name of the mix The "Nellee Hooper Edit."
Sneaker Pimps still sound fresh.
6-feet under is a grave reference. Death.
Bro I'm surprised you caught on brah I'm black 36 from chicago I remember hearing this song on the movie the saint at first I thought she was white but when I seen the video as a kid the thought of it it never left my mind, good job bro it's rare for people yo age to be into something this unique!
This song always makes me think of the movie The Saint with Val Kilmer.
*React to Days of the New "Touch, Peel Stand" if you haven't. Imo, one of the greatest songs ever and it always goes on mu playlists❤*
The 90s was great for music.
There was a shitload of varied music in the late '90s like this, from whence it came. One-hit-wonders galore, unfortunately forgotten for the most part.
I don't know what it is but her grille is jacked but also super sexy at the same time, I can't ever explain it and it's been that way for me since this video debuted on MTV back in the day....
Do yourself a favor ,and check out Beck.."New poulution " ..if you liked this song .Beck is right up your alley
Please do
Flobots-Handlebars
They fired her after this album because she wasn't the sound the dudes in the band wanted and were deservedly never heard from again.
Luscious Jackson Naked Eye is another great underrated song from the 90"s. This song always takes me back to growing up back then. The last best decade EVER!!!!
Seconded.
@@Archon1995 These two songs IMO are two of the sexiest ever.
Ladyfingers
YESSSS!!! Please more of Sneaker Pimps, Morcheeba, Tricky, Portishead, and Massive Attack!!!!!
Yes, Tricky never gets enough love. Guy's brilliant.
@@DanielOrion74 Yeah man, Tricky is fucking incredible
I so can't believe you reacted to this! I got this on my playlist😁 I Jam to this on a regular 🤣 Thank you 😘
Was around then. Can confirm. This song oozes mid/late 90s
Bless Sneaker Pimps, they brought in Kelli Dayton just as a singer for their tracks. Then the label and the press began pushing more her as a lead member, with the actual band as an after thought.
It started to go to her head (just as it would anyone) and resulted in a big riff between them all and she was kind of kicked out. For me it's a shame as they never really kept my attention after she left.
well it killed the band.. a band aint shit without a perfect voice..
"Take whatever you're giving...not enough"
I mean, you gotta do some Portishead now
Wow. You are surfing genres and picking bangers. Sabbath. Awesome. Sneaker Pimps....back to the old days. Took me back. Keep surfing brother.
I love Trip-Hop as well. Plz do some Tricky reactions. He's a legend and criminally underrated nowadays. So many producers were influenced by him.
Someone probably already mentioned it, but I think they sampled a bit from the movie "Goldfinger" (when Bond wakes up to find Jill dead) for the intro and outro.
This was an instant love for me when I heard it when it came out. Just a great, chill, vibey song!
Nice! Consider Massive Attack’s “Unfinished Sympathy” or “Safe From Harm,” Olive’s “You’re Not Alone,” or Rae & Christian’s “The Hush” or “All I Ask.”
Been trying for Unfinished Sympathy for weeks. Think blocking is the concern. Great song though!
Or anything from Portishead especially Dummy.
If we’re doing trip hop, how about some Morcheeba? Them and Portishead are my favorite from that era.
For a few seconds I thought you were saying Van Morrison's 60's band Them were Triphop!
I really love her harmonies in the chorus, especially the line: “don’t think cause I understand, I care...”
This tune gives me chills every time. 4:07 the little break in her voice 🔥🔥
These guys performed at our club in the 90's, brings back good memories.
*This song automatically goes on every playlist i create🖤*
*Having 'fangs' back then was the thing. I believe hers are real. I always wanted to get mine done*
She looks straight out of a Blade movie
@@aaronbarlow4376 cool, right!?!🖤
@Josh Levan that's awesome!!!
When this album came out, i was obsessed. Played this cd over & over for 2 years straight. Kelly has a great voice
1996 was another great year in music. As was most of the entire decade, every year albums were being released that are now classics, and that was every year from 89-00.
I could list 50 for each year in that period in multiple genres easy.
We really were spoiled for choice in the 90's weren't we? So many genres in arguably their golden eras.
Sneaker Pimps comes from the Beastie Boys paying a guy back in the day to hunt/seek old school sneakers.
God Lives Underwater
Yes!!! God Live Underwater - No More Love
This is the first video of yours I watched, it's an interesting choice not a lot of people listen to. Try Tom Waits - Chocolate Jesus. There's a great love version that doesn't get blocked...yet? Ubiquitous Mr Lovegrove is still an amazing song as well.
I get a very futuristic vibe from them , love it
Such a smooth song. Been a favourite of mine since I first heard it on its release.
Need more trip hop reactions please!
Portishead - All Mine
Portishead - Sour Times
Portishead - We Carry On
Portishead - Machine Fun
Massive Attack - Teardrop
Massive Attack - Safe From Harm
Massive Attack - Inertia Creeps
Tricky - Black Steel
Morcheeba - Part Of The Process
You have the greatest breakdown of this song. Never fear life or death. Music flows in you.
This was all over MTV back in the day! There were several versions of this track, which I actually had on the CD single back in like ‘97.
*Sneaker Pimps, is one of my favorite bands of Trío-Hop 💖.*
check out Ruby Velle's Nah, Nah, Please. Great song too. Kristin Mainhart haas some nice stuff along similar lines to the SP's
You think Drinking in L.A. by Bran Van 3000 is in this genre? That's a song that's 90's down to the core. Gives you memories you've never been a part of. I totally understood what you were talking about when you were describing it. That's what makes Massive Attack so good.
Becoming X was a great album!
Dig Triphop? Check out Lamb. "B Line", "Little Things", and/or "Trans Fatty Acid".
And I’ll add, a young Laura Prepon from the 70’s show at 5:27.
Sneaker Pimps had a couple other albums with Chris on vocals, then his project IAMX has been going for years, then SP just put out a new album recently.
You need to react to Radiohead’s “Paranoid Android”. It’s on the OK Computer album.
Thats Kelli Ali...
Those teeth are real.
She's the living embodiment of the Vampire Girlfriend we all wish we could find. 😎
Loved this song right away, too. It’s fun to see it hit someone else that way, years later. Have you checked out Wax Tailor yet? Best trip hop I’ve ever heard. He does some great collaborations with other artists, too.
Oh, yes! Wax Tailor is tremendous!
Listen to Tricky... his Maxinquaye album
I remember first hearing this in the can hardly wait movie when Jennifer love Hewitt enters the party. It’s a different version of this one beat wise I think it was made by the underground umbrellas something like that? but I like remix more than the original
Will you please react to Heads Will Roll by Yeah Yeah Yeahs? I feel like in the song she's talking about not being really into anything and wanting to be in love.. maybe
Very intuitive distinction of this so g glad you are enjoying 1990s music it was good.
Beck - Loser, Mazzy Star - Fade Into You
Snicker pimps have been my jam since the 90s!
If you like this check out: Poe - Hello & Angey Johnny
Used to love this one. Had forgotten about. Unexpected!! Keep it up!
I'm pretty sure her teeth are real.
Now check out Massive Attack!!!
Look up spin spin sugar by sneaker pimps
The trippiest of the trip hop: Dream by Forest for the Trees
double down on Portishead
Who remembers the song from GTA 5
I'm in love with her lips.
She is such a hottie
Her voice...damn.
The teeth are real met her
Her teeth are real.
Nice
Awesome. Love these guys, and Morcheeba and Thievery Corporation. So frikken chill.
Not a lot of reactions for this quintessential 90’s song. I’m glad someone did it. This song is in my top 20 90’s song. And for the 90’s that’s saying a lot.
Post Modern Sleaze is a dope track from Sneaker Pimps.. You’ll dig it. My son was conceived to that song man!! It was on infinite loop of course!! 😜😜😜😜💪🏼💪🏼
This is from the Soundtrack, "The Saint" with Val Kilmer. Love the beat when I first heard it. There is another cut with a slight difference without the "Hip Hop" "A 1, 2, a 1, 2" in the background. Sounds just as good though! Lyrics, "Open to falling from grace..." comes off a little demonic, but an overall nice song.
New subscriber here! I've had a look through your videos, and there's a great range of artists, from giants like Joni Mitchell and Steely Dan to less celebrated acts like these here Sneaker Pimps. I enjoy your style too 👍🏽
Think the term Sneaker Pimps was inspired by the Beastie Boys and how they apparently had a guy whose sole (no pun intended) job was to find the guys new kicks. I believe. Nonetheless, this was the only album with Kelli fronting the band before Chris took over (as he was the lead before their Mgr pulled her in to front). Helluva album though.
It's not as cheeky as this one, but I think "Not An Addict" by K's Choice has a similar sound. I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.
That was different. Not a sound I would normally listen to but I will check some more out. Nice analysis of song and lyrics.
As the story goes, the Sneaker Pimps were those hired by the Beastie Boys to acquire all the Adidas sneakers they could.
Nice reaction. Haven’t listened to this song In a long time. Forgot how great it is recording and production wise.
Sneaker Pimps! ❤️
Yeah this that ish!!! 💯
Bro!!!
💚
Next recommendation - Sneaker Pimps - Half Life. A total evolution and it'd be interesting to see your reaction on how they changed style.
Their best (and possibly only better than good) song... definitely a song for the ages.
There are a few defining instrumental elements that elevate its appeal, as you keenly noted.
this song is dope, havent heard it in a long time
