  • Linda Keith (born 1946) is a former British fashion model,[1] best known for her work for Vogue magazine during the 1960s as well as her involvement in the rock music scene.[2]
    Biography
Linda Keith was born to Pearl Rebuck and Alan Keith, a British actor and radio presenter who objected to her career as a fashion model. While working for Vogue, Linda dated Keith Richards and spent time living in New York City where she frequented the clubs in Greenwich Village. She helped discover Jimi Hendrix by introducing him to Chas Chandler.[3][4] She was also the first cousin of Free guitarist Paul Kossoff.
In the mid-1960s Keith became well connected culturally in the early days of the "Swinging Sixties". She was photographed by David Bailey and, together with Sheila Klein, partner of the Rolling Stones' manager Andrew Loog Oldham, was at the heart of a bohemian community in London's West Hampstead. She formed relationships with Keith Richards of the Stones and, later in New York City, Jimi Hendrix, but drifted into drug dependency. Richards appears to have been instrumental in Alan Keith's going out to America to find his daughter. On their return she was made a ward of court. She later brought up her own family and, in 2010, was living in New Orleans.[5] According to Richards, Linda Keith was the subject of the Rolling Stones song "Ruby Tuesday". The song includes the lyrics "[w]hen you change with every new day / Still I'm gonna miss you".
In the film Jimi: All Is by My Side it is suggested Jimi Hendrix also wrote the song "Red House" about Linda.

I am astounded at the intelligence, vision & initiative displayed by this young girl & the way she single-handedly introduced Jimi to his audience. When many others dismissed Jimi she saw his potential. In the manner of a true muse she nurtured his talent & helped him to have faith in his own genius. That on top of Jones' insecurities is what did him in. A band mate taking over the band *and* his old lady . What a lovely lady and very beautiful too! I read Jimi Hendrix's girlfriend, Kathy Etchingham's autobiography a while back and she recounted a story of her friend Linda Money, the wife of musician Zoot Money, attacking this poor woman, in the late 1960's, in The Bag O Nails nightclub, in London, due to some unhappy history between Kathy and Linda. So sad.

It wuz a mitey white WOman, dat dug n her heelz, & made sho, we got 2 hear Hendrix. Hardly anybody else cared! Sure....... There were a few, who knew he had talent, & set out 2 xploit him. There r those, like Les Paul, who heard him & wuz knocked out by his talent, BUTT sumthin else wuz mo mportant, @ da time.
Linda Keith, tho stunningly BEAUTIFUL, had da good taste 2 c whut othaz, could not c, & she nutured him & set-up chancez 4 his talent 2 b seen by people who could do sumthin 4 him. Many of em passed on dis talent, unable 2 c anythang n him dat wuz appealing. Tis y Chas, remainz a hero 2 me! If Jimi had not gotten 2 BIG 4 his britchez, perhapz he'd still b here, cause he'd woulda been under da kind protection & organization, Chandler brought 2 da table. However, we woulda sacrificed 1983/A MERMAN I SHALL TURN 2 B, a filler track @ best, 2 many, BUTT da quintessential Hendrix opus, 2 me!

Jimi started going out with Kathy Etchingham as soon as he came to England. Just bypassed Linda Keith straight away.
Btw Linda Keith got Brian Jones in some hot water when she staged her 'suicide attempt' in one of his apartments, she phoned her doctor, told him that she was going to take an overdose, doc arrived, took her to hospital and she was booted out of hospital the following morning. Bit of a drama queen!

@Genevieve LeLanne He already was playing Fender before the "Experience". Think around the Little Richard stint he had a Jazzmaster, basically nobody had that guitar.
Though Jimi did write/say that he used to sell his gear all the time in order fund certain things then buy it back once he had the money again. He did that at least one pawn shop. He knew how to find guitars.

I have Roger Mayer's Visage pedal. Gets the identical sound of Hendrix, been using it all the time for many years. Clapton and Zappa and Hendrix all used the same Roger Mayer pedals which is an awesome thing. Lightning in a bottle. Grateful for your insight and to see surviving words of a Hendrix witness. Basically a modern day experience of Jesus Christ in a different way. In the future that'll be an even bigger thing, though you probably have thought about this stuff since 18 Sep, 1970.

Neil Young did that a lot . Fave jimi : Purple H, wind cries, You got me Floating, if a 6 were a 9, and the great Lttle WIng. Red House, All along the watchtower. She said after she got to know him, she couldn't believe he'd stoop to doing those corny dance moves. But he toured with several bands through the South before being discovered and wisked away to London in 1966.
