There's nothing wrong with humans adjusting birth rate based on their situation. Mother nature also does this continually based on environmental conditions.
Don't we want the earth's population to fall. Less people means more resources available, lower house prices, less Global warming, etc. Less people seems like win win to me.
@Walker_8_8 yes, you'd think it would be obvious, but politicians and CEO's think "the more population the more stuff to sell and make money from". Some people love money more than life itself.
An inverted population pyramid means there's no workforce to support the elderly. In the long run it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, but it's gonna suck until the population stabilizes.
When Ana was talking about not having child care and the high cost of giving birth and raising a child as deterrents for people not wanting to have babies. I just wanted to add that a lot of women are probably afraid that if they get pregnant and then finds out there is something severely wrong with the fetus and they would not have the right to abort the pregnancy even if the the fetus has zero chance of survival and also in some states if the pregnancy has complications there are no exceptions even if the mother's health or life is compromised they will let her die then lie about it so they can conceal the real numbers. If I were a woman thinking about having children that would be a big concern.
@@waveygravey9347, the problem with this argument is that those laws are poorly defined with even worse implementation. Who defines the threshold for when the mother's life is at risk? Politicians? Insurance companies? Hospital administration? With threats of legal action against physicians in potential abortion cases, there is hesitation and red tape that prevent or even delay critical care with catastrophic consequences. And remember, just because a person doesn't die doesn't mean there isn't devastating, irrevocable damage.

Elon Musk grew up at a time in South Africa when whites were privileged - they got the jobs, the education, the housing, the vote so she is being disingenuous. Elon went to a very good school. I don't believe she ever never had enough money. If there were fewer people in the world there would be more jobs and employers would not rip off their employees so much because there would be competition for workers.
You need to consider the context. I was born in South Africa as well, five years before Elon. If his father had enough money to own a plane, they were wealthy to begin with. Or at least he was. Given the currency values at the time and the fact that the SA Rand was worth far less than the British Pound or USD by SA standards they had money. Not staggering wealth for sure, and by international standards not very much but they weren't struggling. But then when was this? For example did the money come later after the divorce?
I am extremely happy that I do not have children, as the Musk family (which sounds like the Adams Family) is eager to design how our children are supposed to live.
Being a dad, raising my son was..well is, the most wonderful and meaningful thing ive done. At the same time, not being able to provide everything i want for him, includign basic shit remains amoung my greatest regrets. Wealthy people dont get it.
I think it's sick to encourage people to have kids when they don't have the means to give them a good upbringing. People often lack the time and money to give kids what they need. Populations tend to balance themselves out given there is an environment to thrive in. Maybe plummeting birth rates indicate that we aren't thriving, and in that case Musk should be more concerned with that than people having more kids they can't take care of.
Okay, but what if I'm drunk, really horny, and don't have a condom? What am I supposed to do then? Convince my partner who is also drunk, really horny and doesn't have a condom that we should think rationally and logically and eat ice cream instead? Is that what you're suggesting!? I am aghast! What is so ridiculous is the idea that less children = inadequate workforce = inadequate production. Less children = lower need for workforce = adequate production for population. The less people, the lower need for goods, the lower need for workers.
@@wolfpowers2867 The difference between "less" and "fewer" is as follows12345: Less: Used with uncountable nouns (e.g., less sugar). Fewer: Used with plural countable nouns (e.g., fewer cars). you can't count the number of children you HAVEN'T had, so less is correct.

Also who even w ants to bring kids in to the world ... to watch them suffer then die ... schools are terrible indoctrination centers ( my neighbor a 5th grade teacher calls her job " a very over priced babysitter " ..no one os teaching real subjects anymore) ... you have to work so you need the schools to babysit your kids ,, then do you vaccinate not to vaccinate. mask no masks, unsure job opportunities most only hire PT becaus e they do not want to pay healthcare ... so how do you afford healthcare . how do we even trust our medical people anymore, then what if you have a sick kid ... here is the thing MATH never lies ... words lie , words manipulate, words deceive , words can be misconstrued but math 2+2 will always be four ..m,ath never lies so if you can barely afford to feed yourself you can not afford kids.
Ana... I am just letting you in on a little secret. The cost of having a child here in Canada isn't any cheaper either. The average cost of having a child in Canada is about $15k/year per child. The cost of childcare alone (Glorified Babysitter) is insanely expensive because many of these daycares are run like for profit businesses. There is some truth that the government will assist, but it's basically pennies and depending on the government in power at the time (Provincially/Federally)
The birth rate declining doesn't mean immediate population shrinkage: A population can still grow even if birth rates are declining because more people are living longer and fewer people are dying. This is called population momentum-younger generations born in the past (when birth rates were higher) are now having children, contributing to growth. It took 12 years to go from 7 to 8 billion people.

There's nothing wrong with humans adjusting birth rate based on their situation. Mother nature also does this continually based on environmental conditions.
One of the biggest problems this country has is cost of housing. We need rent controls, but we'll never see that.

Don't we want the earth's population to fall. Less people means more resources available, lower house prices, less Global warming, etc. Less people seems like win win to me.
keep thinking the same thing
you are correct, less people means a sustainable human existence, growth is unsustainable.
@Walker_8_8 yes, you'd think it would be obvious, but politicians and CEO's think "the more population the more stuff to sell and make money from". Some people love money more than life itself.
@@RobertA-hq3vz I think what they like is having people serve them.
Every single state has exceptions for the life of the mother. A Google search doesn't cost anything.
@@waveygravey9347 And they are letting us die, anyway.
@@mpowell1601 yes why do people not understand this. This is so frustrating to me that they’re saying all of this shit about oh it’s up to the state well the states don’t know what they’re doing because nobody has really clarified. What the hell is the rules and regulation. Positions are still terrified that someone’s going to take their license away and so they’re very very hesitant to do anything. Right or wrong that’s the way that it is. And women are dying because of it because of people’s hesitancy to do anything.

i support all who choose to not have children. we have too many people on this planet and nature is correcting for that. most children today will not live as long or as well as we have become accustomed to.

Ah yes enjoy. Enjoy having children. Have as many as you want. My husbands diamond mines need more employees anyway.
I want to hear the perspective of Elon Musk’s children when they are 18, who were completely ignored by Elon because of his work.
Musk is a terrible father.
Saying you don't need to consider the cost of something is like those world Travellers that talk about how they would travel even if they were not rich. Malarkey. 😂
The hateful comments about Anna, just make the person writing them.sound jealous and bitter. Grow up..

Why would we be jealous of someone who is almost 40 and does not have any children?
Doing an interview about birthrates with a woman that has 8 kids😂😂😂
Hey if she wants to raise kids so much there's literally Orphanages full for you to go raise them lady lol
Since I don’t want kids, I have the perfect tagline for this story: “Mother May I not…?”
South Africa has universal healthcare.
The majority of people choosing not to have children could actually afford children.
People are resources to the uber rich. Declining populations mean less contributors to their coffers, either as exploited workers or consumers.
Don't have kids unless you want them and don't have kids until you can afford them.
And whatabout my religion?! Are you daring to suggest that I reject my god's literal orders to go forth and procreate!? OMG, I just can't. This generation is beyond help.

What is so ridiculous is the idea that less children = inadequate workforce = inadequate production. Less children = lower need for workforce = adequate production for population. The less people, the lower need for goods, the lower need for workers.
less people = smaller profits, that's why they want more people.
The word is "fewer," not "less."
@@wolfpowers2867 The difference between "less" and "fewer" is as follows12345:
Less: Used with uncountable nouns (e.g., less sugar).
Fewer: Used with plural countable nouns (e.g., fewer cars).

my mom said Her biggest mistake in life was " having kids" ... so perhaps she loved making kids but not everyone does ... every women I know who had children regret having them . People are POOR they are NOT going to the theater with or without having kids the movies is not even on their mind ... Know what my parents worried about was keeping a roof over their heads and cigarettes' forget about food or school clothes, school supplies, or food on the table their whole existence was just paying the rent and getting cigarettes' They need the cigarettes' to cope with all the poor deskins they made in life including having kids, . They want more people to have kids then fix the economy ... people who have hope for their future and that of their children's will want to have kids. If people can barely afford to take care of themselves then brining children into the world is the very definition of child abuse or at least neglect . She has no clue what she is talking about... she can speak for herself nut she absolutely can not speak for the whole world ... we are all different. even my mom said " just because you can have kids does not mean you should have kids" ... Insane you work 40 hours a week and then you try to raise a kid in what hours are left so you can never work on yourself to better yourself to fulfill your life as a person.
You sound like a very broken person you gotta stay strong and fight the system dawg
It must be wonderful to live in Maye Musk's fantasy world.

The birth rate declining doesn't mean immediate population shrinkage:
A population can still grow even if birth rates are declining because more people are living longer and fewer people are dying.
This is called population momentum-younger generations born in the past (when birth rates were higher) are now having children, contributing to growth. It took 12 years to go from 7 to 8 billion people.
Exactly. Plus we NEED less people!
