    I studied music production in school and your alchemy tutorials has thought me more about synths than any class i ever had seriously

    I felt at the first sight that this Alchemy was something great but really, really complex to master and use properly. I'm so grateful to have once again your help. Can't wait for the other parts. Thank you!

      +Roberto D'Alessandro No problem. As I make these videos, I'm realizing that this might be a 6-part series, not just a 3-4 part series, just because it is so deep.

    Watching these reminds you how light most other tutorials are. We're basically reading the user's manual here, and you've made it not so bad...thank you!

    That was a really great tutorial mate. I've been 'lost in the woods' a little with Alchemy because of all the functions it has and you have shone a light on some stuff that I can get stuck into now. Very well done. Thank you very much indeed. (I'll be watching all the others).

    god this synth is brilliant, and super powerful as well, there's not really anything else like it. I'd heard of this synth and never really got around to trying it, but, having watched this video i can't help but feel super lucky that it actually comes with logic

  • @kennethgnielsen

    I would like to automate controlling modulation, not pitch. I'll go to your introduction to synthesis lesson and get some footing in understanding how synthesizers work. Meanwhile, I do believe your lessons will get me there and beyond. I'm using a small MidiPlus USB AKM320 controller so should be enough to get me started. Thanks for great, well thought-out lessons.

    hey I just realized that there's like a "Init" set up for alchemy. Just click the "file" menu (right next to save and save as) and select "clear" and it will give you a basic patch. Maybe useful for future sound design tutorials with alchemy? I fucking love these tutorials.

    Nice Tutorial. But as far as the SVF Cutoff Frequency is concerned, the actual cutoff around the center frequency is -3dB at initially, not -6dB, afaik.

    When I first saw alchemy I was like "pfft what is this, is this for losers, lol, all you do is select presets" but now I know it's so much more deep and complex than that! Thank you for teaching me, I've been trying to find good tutorials to learn the fundamentals of synthesis on top of what I can grasp from using the ES2 synth, and this series is teaching me a lot already! Thank you!

    Hey since you can drag samples in you could use say a pad audio loop sound of a different key and change the key using the coarse tuning knob. I'm thinking that might work but just not for something in major to minor or vice versa.

  • @motoservo

    You almost said it right, but then went with 6dB. But, cutoff (corner frequency) is the “half power point”, so... 3 dB. Kind of trivial, I guess. Hey, thanks for making your videos. I dig all your stuff.

      +Rupert Miln Not blurry on my end. Try setting to a higher resolution. If you're at like 240p it will probably be blurry. Try 720 or 480p.

    using alchemy presets are continually causing my system to be overloaded. would using alchemy more like other synths without using its presets, i.e. synthisizing my owns sounds in the advanced menu, do you think i will have better luck with my system not overloading?

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  8 років тому

      +steve pecora It does the same for me. When I switch presets during playing it always locks up. It's probably because they are sample based. Hopefully they find a way to fix it in the next revision. I'm using a Mac Pro with 8-core CPU, 32GB and RAM, and Dual RAIDed SSDs.... I have the same problem.

      +MusicTechHelpGuy interesting. i guess i feel a little better about my very-resource-limited computer crashing then as well. what synth do you recommend that may be less resource? i have been looking into synthmaster, but there are always the go to sylenth1 and massive. just not sure what can work, although i am trying to learn the stock lpx synths to the best of my ability as well.
