BizMatik, this was Robin's signature song that he received standing ovations for each and every time he performed it live. He loved it so much that he requested that it be played at his funeral in 2012. This beautiful man sang with his heart and you'll find that with every lead he ever did. From his earlier leads with his brothers from the late 60's to the early 70's and all of his solo endeavors from 1969, 1983, 1984, 1985 and those in the 2,000's as well as many more post disco leads with his brothers, you'll get the same vibe you did listening to this amazing song. I hope you react to many more of his leads. I guarantee that you won't be disappointed. Continue to RIP sweet, sweet angel. 🙏😇🙏
Thank you for sharing that. Although I have loved BeeGees since I was a teeney bopper in the 60's, I don't really know too much about their lives. I love hearing the stories of the groups and songs.
Your welcome, Cindy. I've been with these amazing guys since they first came on the scene in 1967. From day one my heart belonged to precious Robin. I miss him so and Mo and Andy, too. 😥
The voice and song that made me a fan for life. Robin's voice stopped me in my tricks. I couldn't believe the purity of his voice. Effortless. Beyond beautiful. Haunting.
What made the Bee Gees a great musical act was that the brothers had beautiful voices. Each excelled at a different style. There was a great advantage in that-- variety-- three great performers in one band. All were loveable and gifted musicians, songwriters to throw into the mix. Voila!! A legendary, beloved band! Aren't we fans the lucky, blessed ones?
Everyone should check out Robin's music video of "Ellan Vallin," done on the Isle of Man where Robin Gibb, his twin brother Maurice, and older brother Barry, were born. He sings with backing from the pure voices of young people from a college choir, starting in a cathedral setting, then moving out to stunning vistas of the wild coastline of the island. It's an amazing anthem that is stirring and, as always, Robin reaches the deep places of the heart. Though in his last days on earth, Robin was still Robin... with all the grace of his musical soul displayed and a performance given with all the ethereal and timeless beauty of his unmistakeable voice. Rest in Peace, Robin. Thank you for what you gave to the world.
It's such a spiritual song open to interpretation. Robin had soul. That was a great connection you made to the modern times we live in. Spot on. Other great Robin songs are Saved by the Bell, I can't see nobody and later ones like Bodyguard, Kiss of Life and For Whom the Bell Tolls. Been watching you for awhile now and your appreciation of music keeps growing. Well done. Especially these days. To be open to lots of different genres is brilliant.
I truly love the entire Bee Gees discography! The late '60s, through the late '70s is the most well known, and greatly heralded. I'd like to recommend some of the amazing '80s tunes, that don't get quite as much love. You Win Again Heartbreaker Alone One All fantastic songs in there own right! Thanks Biz!!
Another beautiful song which showcases Robin's amazing voice is "I Can't See Nobody". Watch the live version from Melbourne 1974. Not only will you be treated to his voice, but you will see his professionalism after he his distracted when a fan is stopped by security from getting on stage to kiss Mo 😊
There's more musical pearls like this one. Check out ,THE SINGER SANG HIS SONG. Robin's voice is one of the greatest. I've been a fan since the sixties. Thanks man, great stuff. 😁👍👊
Aww, a song from the very first LP I ever bought! Maybe not the best album the BeeGees ever put out, but that song is still beautiful after over 50 years, so thanks for playing it! (And yeah, it was Robin!) Happy Holidays to you!
Thanks, Biz.. featuring ROBIN.. my favorite BG...he wrote this and sang this original version when he was 17-18 (I'm pretty sure Barry helped).. he also sang this live much later... and sounded almost the same... what a fantastic group! appreciate your reactions...
hey homes so much great music from the past so little time if you love jazz funk bands like i do need to a deep dive on gino vannelli - the band pleasure - spyro gyra- and more of the band yes lots of great progressive rock from them you'll freak out !
The cover of the "Idea" LP is a composite of the brothers' faces. Robin is credited as the writer of this song. He admitted he was a loner and felt often misunderstood. When he cried, others laughed. When he laughed, others cried. I take the song, as do many, about how we fit in with the world and how others perceive us. The original video was filmed with fun house mirrors and distorted human cutouts...do people see the real person or distortions of them. Robin was called the best white soul voice of his generation. He was 17 when he sang this. The songs "For whom the bell tolls" and "Bodyguard" are excellent examples. Your comments about social media are bang on. "Stayin' Alive was a decade after this song.
late 60s bee gees are the best. please do "words". for fun you should check out some of their earliest tv appearances when they were a teen folk trio. "my old man's a dustman" is a great one.
Robin's voice is amazing. His best songs imo are "And the Sun Will Shine" about an unattainable love interest a young boy idolizes, as well as "I can't See Nobody" , both sung live in Melbourne 1974 for best video. Please react to Nights on Broadway - Midnight Special video, Alone, Run to Me, And the Sun Will Shine, I Can't See Nobody, Morning of My Life, Tragedy, Love You Inside Out, Spirits Having Flown...... please choose the official videos. There are live performances in 1997 & 2001 where they sing songs 30 years after they first released the song. They often shorten the song because it wasn't their latest hits. So the younger performances are often best for the older songs. Fun reaction. The meaning of I Started a Joke is different for everybody i think. Merry Christmas BizMatik!
Biz please listen to the song called "All I know" by Art Garfunkle, of Simon & Garfunkle but this is him by himself. You will LOVE it, trust me! Thank you! ❤
The "disco" period wasn't my favorite, but they were good songs. Early and later periods are my favorite. One, Alone,Bodyguard, For Whom The Bell Tolls so many wonderful songs. ❤
@@LillyMarz777 Indeed they were. Lately it seems I hear Staying Alive everywhere I go. I especially love the commercial with John Travolta strutting down the street to this song in a Santa suit. It's a classic.
@@cindyfalstrom7231 - Robin wrote the lyrics for "Stayin' Alive" on the Concorde after reading the NY Times about the violence in NYC in the 70's (Son of Sam mass murderer, race riots). The cadence of the song is used everywhere for teaching CPR.
They say Robin was 16 when he wrote that song and recorded it. So that's kind of why he looks so skinny in there. Cause he was just a teenager at the time.
Robin had a weird melancholy vibrato that will make you listen when he sings and you will stop what you are doing if you have never heard it before .. People have started many jokes in the new age of putting your business in the street ... ....
I think this song can apply to the evil elites who are trying to destroy society and the world as we know it. Look at the wars being fought, the people at each others throats, the hate being spewed very day, the downfall of society and respect for each other. Will it only end with the demise of those trying to divide and conquer us?
He never truly answered when asked the question. What’s the meaning of the lyrics?? I feel Robin had some depression issues. When he was only 17 he was involved in the horrific train wreck. A lot of people died. It kinda messed him up a bit. He’s a very deep private soul who wrestled with some demons. He I felt was the best singer amongst the brothers Gibb. However he was a lot of the time overlooked because of big brother Barry’s amazing good looks. He never said it out loud but I think it always bothered him. You can see in his face. He’s soooo emotional and feels life deeply. Watch their old videos and you can see what I mean. He sings from deep within. Unlike any performer I’m ever seen. Rest in peace. 😢
Robin did these types of songs so well. His silky vibratto was so well suited also for Massachusetts.

He has the best voice of the brothers.
One of the finest songs ever created.
The lyrics just crush my soul every time I hear it.
Early Bee Gees are great. "To Love Somebody" was an early hit of theirs that Janice Joplin covered as well.
I don't know why this damn song makes me tear up !? Between the lyrics and the heavenly sounding music and the background !
Yes it makes me cry everytime.

Yes, the version with the "King's College Choir".
Robin was singing on this track. He had a great voice as well.
This song means everything to me ❤
It's always been one of the most amazingly haunting vocals I've ever heard. It's so good it hardly matters what he's singing.
Love this song 🎵 ❤️, Robin's vocals are absolutely 💯 kickass
"Massachusetts" is another beautiful song with Robin singing most of the lead. That and "Fanny" are my favorites of all their songs.
I did those
Massachusetts live (1989) Robin takes lead. Closer Than Close ( live in Vegas) Maurice does lead.

My absolute favorite of all the BeeGees hits . Robin NEVER got the individual acclaim he would have received .....had he pursued a solo career .
Great classic!

Kiss Of Life.
I Can't See Nobody. Bodyguard.

Older Bee Gees music is fantastic.
I so love the Brothers Gibb. So much talent. The soundtrack of my life. Have you done Barry's signature song, Words? ❤
I loved this album. My older sister would play it at bedtime when I was a kid. Good memories.
Good early song of theirs. First of May, Massachusetts and Lonely Days are some other good early ones
Absolutely beautiful
