The red bathing suit scene is taken from the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High with Phoebe Cates in the bathing suit. An iconic movie if you've never seen it.
Rachel Hunter was Staceys Mom in this video. She is from NZ and was a supermodel in the 90’s. She was married Rod Stewart and they had two children together. She is 50 now and is still regularly on TV over here. She does some beauty show thing.
Sad news about this band; Adam Schelsinger, the base player passed away from Covid-19. :p Was going to say that 'That Thing You Do' would be a good follow up. He was nominated for an Oscar; as he wrote the title song.
In like the past 2 years the model who plays Stacy’s mom and bassist and songwriter of this band have died. The former from a heart attack and the latter from complications due to covid :(( both wayyyy too young
2:00 This was the other Easter Egg..No body else would have noticed but they are paying homage to The Cars and their influence on them. If you notice the tag on the car I Love RIC...That's Ric Ocasec.
The guys in the band were big fans of The Cars......the opening drum beat & guitar riff are a nod to them. Another nod is the bus stop kid with the black hair and sunglasses; a Rick Ocasek reference (RIP Rick.) The exiting the pool/bathroom sequence is virtually a frame-for-frame recreation of Fast Times At Ridgemont High. Rachel Hunter, Phoebe Cates......decisions, decisions......
The song is just about the delusional fantasy we've all had as little boys about some adult woman (it's in the same boat as having comic book superpowers). The lines expose how hilariously delusional we'd be: "I'm not the little boy that I used the be, since your dad walked out your mom could use a guy like me" 😂😂😂 PEEK DELUSIONAL And "I know it might be wrong but I'm in love with Stacy's mom" 😂😂😂 despite being dumb we were at least self aware of how stupid the fantasy was.
IRIE Mon, heard this song for the first time at a friend's Karaoke live and looking it up here, came across this COOL reaction video of yours and totally agree with ya! Thanks for sharing Ty, 👍and greetings👋for Mrs.MRM,your boys and you from me in Querétaro! 🤠
this is their big hit. but they are actually a much bigger band than this song would suggest. They are one of the best bands from that period in terms of songrwiting. Every song tells a really well written story and they are really smart with their pop hooks. Totally impressed by FOW and surprised that they weren't one of the biggest bands of the time.
Other than Stacy’s Mom, I was really unfamiliar with any other of their material until recently. They were extremely good. Very tight vocals, excellent musicianship the whole way around. I’m sorry I didn’t pay more attention to them when they were active and together.
I think when they say women mature faster they mean psychological/social moral maturity. A young man's puberty fantasies aren't considered mature in the adult moral mentality sense. Yet then again who ever said the sexuality of boys/men is something to be totally "matured" out of.
Check out their songs Radiation Vibe and Sink To The Bottom from their first album. Such catchy and well crafted songs, without the novelty factor Stacy's Mom has.
04:45 As others said that is a throwback to the pool scene with Phoebe Cates in Fast Times at Ridgemont High where Judge Reinehold was caught pleasuring himself to the fantasy of her
Just FYI the scene with mom coming out of the pool is a throwback to the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High. When Phoebe Cates came out of the pool just like that in some guys fantasy. ;)
I know this from small clips in shows/movies from that time 03/04 but I was 19/20 and not really listening to current radio or movies at that time but 60s-80s also had moved in with a boyfriend for that year and a half rough time but I wouldn't be who I am today if I hadn't gone through all that and found my faith... This band has another song not as popular but it was called "All kinds of time"and I heard it at least 8 years after this by Ed watching a show from this timethat was how it was with me I will wait until something wasn't really popular anymore and then go back and give it a shot I think I found that songyou're watching the OC which was actually an accident because I have been watching you and I know that you want to know which is closer to my era In in bt the two but I said it was on cable and they came on right after each other and I saw the pilot was I kept watching and then I heard some songs and I found them for cds to drive to the college so 5-7 years later. Thanks for the reminder of those times through the band takes me back to colege if I didn't know now what I didn't know then but that's why it only happens once I guess. I don't have kids but if I had in my earlier years considering everyone thinks I'm 10-15 yrs younger by looking lol this actualy reminds me of my mom when I was a teen or even now my sister who has a 13 going on 14 yr old and when he brings friends home too funny.
This song is just ok for me.. poppy... and i plead the 5th going further into why... ha!!! I raised 2 stepdaughters before my son in my early 20’s. All im gonna say. 😳🙄
The mom is really Rachel Hunter a 90s super model. Rod Stewart married her. Yes the red bikini scene is from my favorite movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
OMG, finally... Went to Highschool (1988) with a hot chick named Stacy... But her mom (Angelica) was even hotter and wore skimpy bathing suits when we would go over to her house for BBQ's and pool party's... Holy Crap she was fine as all heck! And Stacy's dad was like 20yrs older than her mom!
I won't apologize for the following comment. This video was seriously offensive. An adult female seducing a teenage boy. When the video was made during the 80s, the issue of pedophilia wasn't a serious media conversation. I'm a liberal and open-minded thinker; and my artistic interests range from the sublime to the absurd. I also believe the freedom of speech must be preserved. But, consider that the human race must evolve in our collective thinking; or...what is cloaked in the dark, will stay in the dark.
this video was made in the early 2000s. though it is quite suggestive, only a prude like you would jump to the conclusion that that Stacy's mom was actually trying to seduce the boy. its simply a video playing up the boy's fantasy. that's it.
@@shoogerkane First of all...I believe that adult sexuality is appropriate in videos and film. And if you watched film, videos, and commercials produced outside of the US, you'd see how prudish American media is. Further...if you knew me, my interest in adult media content would shock you. The music video portrayed a teenage boy with sexual fantasies. Not shocking at all. But the editing was clearly cut to suggest seduction on the mother's part. If the mother's target was an adult male of female...I wouldn't have an issue with the video. But the director's intention was to suggest the girl's mother reacting to the interest of her teenage friend. No matter what decade the video is from... pedophilia is never appropriate.
The co-writer of this song, Adam Schlesinger (the dark-haired bassist), died from complications of COVID-19 on April 1st. Rest in peace. :-(
Yo are you for real? Wow, this funny reaction just went dark real fast.
so they say loo
Yeah, we know, everyone these days died from Covid, There's no other sickness today.
@@rimisark wtf is wrong with you, you clown?
The red bathing suit scene is a throwback to the Reinhold/Cates scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High
gahrie exactly! A parody from Fast Times at Ridgemont High!
Yessss! Phoebe Cates!
Yep
In my top 3 fav movies
We're all in love with stacys mom
to this day I'm in love with that mom.. lol
R.I.P Adam Schlesinger.
Music back in the day wasn’t just better but more fun
The red bathing suit scene is taken from the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High with Phoebe Cates in the bathing suit. An iconic movie if you've never seen it.
I agree that adults that have not seen the movie Fast Times At Ridgemont High should make a plan to watch it eventually.
Super Model Rachel Hunter plays the title character.
thompur The former Mrs. Rod Stewart. A truly blessed man.
Super is the operative word
super model is a title that's not always 100 % accurate
rachel hunter has literally always had a somewhat attractive face period
Yeah she does.
Your facial expressions are priceless.
a lotta young dudes wanted to mow more lawns.
🤣🤣🤣
Rachel Hunter was Staceys Mom in this video. She is from NZ and was a supermodel in the 90’s. She was married Rod Stewart and they had two children together. She is 50 now and is still regularly on TV over here. She does some beauty show thing.
Glad to hear, I always liked her

We all had a stacy's mom in our life at some point. Lol
Rachel Hunter as Stacy's mom. That's just good casting!

I was mid 30’s when this song hit the radio, just a fun song that would be played loud at parties
I could not imagine a music video like this would come out now people wouldn’t see the funny side
The song is just about the delusional fantasy we've all had as little boys about some adult woman (it's in the same boat as having comic book superpowers). The pool scene is a double easter egg... yes Christmas Vacation but the original was from a 80's movie called Fast Times At Ridgemont High ! ✌😎
Good fun song for troubled times. Thanks for this Ty.
Christmas vacation is hands down the best Christmas holiday tune, I watch it yearly too!
Love the line........... since your dad moved out she could use a guy like me. HA HA. This is a funny song.
Props to you for catching the soda bottle "eruption"...and the little smirk by the masseuse. You're the only reviewer that's caught these!
Dude. You gotta watch Stacy's dad. I been cracking up all day!
It’s just a great pop song of the day. Great hook. Great video.
Another fun song is My Own Worst Enemy by Lit. Video is funny as well!

Fast Times At Ridgemont High my dude.
A few CUTE variants of this song "Chelsea's Mom" (Hillary Clinton) are worth watching ( Obama Girl guy, Guys playing violins /well strung etc.)
Poor Stacy thought the boy was coming over because he liked her, but he was really there for her mom
I LOVE THIS SONG !!!
I wish I could have been here for when this video premiered
To be fair, "Stacy's Mom" is a multi-million dollar, legendary model. Poor girl never had a chance.
The girl seems to be completely unaware of that... she is dying behind the pal..
Let's not ignore the fact that the kid is wearing a shirt that says "Mr. Wonderful" , too funny 🤪
I loved the faces you were pulling whilst watching the video I was in stitches lol
So cute! Just a great fun song. Think I was in my cruising stage.
I think when they say women mature faster they mean psychological/social moral maturity. A young man's puberty fantasies aren't considered mature in the adult moral mentality sense. Yet then again who ever said the sexuality of boys/men is something to be totally "matured" out of.
I sing to my daughter Jada to annoy her 🙄...”Jada’s mom has got it going on”! 😂
You did this specially for me for my wake up.... I'm Stacie and my Mom does have it goin on 😉😂😂
Good morning Ty!!
I think she definitely knew. Haha
just one word.... Cougar.....
RIP another coronavirus victim. Model used to be married to Rod Stuart.
the scene with the red bikini was an homage to Fast Times at Ridge Mont high
You really can't blame him one bit. Stacy's mom is a new york 9.5

i really love rod stewart as a musician
is that an ode to Fast Times and my girl Phoebe? lol
If you thought this video was fun,you have to react to Bowling for Soup's song 1985. Hilarious 😆
Look up the cover of Stacy's Mom by Postmodern Jukebox. It's awesome.
Rachel Hunter played Stacy’s mum in this video. The song was cute.
I got kicked out of a library whilst watching this once and I was in a really bad relationship at the time
The mum in the video was married to Rod Stewart. Rachel Hunter from New Zealand. x
There isn't a man over the age of 30 who doesn't know stacy's mom. lol
Now check out the cover version of this song by Postmodern Jukebox. You'll thank me later!
Stacy's Mom is hot mom!
Try watch Fastimes at Richmount High. Its a awesome 80s movie.
The bikini scene is older than Christmas Vacation
Look up Fast Times at Ridgemont High
