@sweethomealabamahomestead4504 I'm zone 8a but I'm out in oregon so I'm not sure if we have enough sun out here for them to thrive but I have seen some people keep meyer lemons with extra protection. I just bought a changsha mandarin I'm interested to see how it does. Did you get any fruit from Thomasville? I wonder how they taste.

@@Russballer They should do good there temp. Like you said I don't about sun since they do like full sun. I got fruit off of the Thomasville a few years ago they we got cold and they died back to the root, they tast really good for cold hardy citrus almost a cross between a lime and kumquat.

@@sweethomealabamahomestead4504 Extreme temperature swings are part of global warming. In each hot swing more ice melts, altering the oceans currents, in turn altering air currents, in turn altering weather, when it gets cold it will get extra cold, and when it rains it will flood rain. Not to mention more droughts around the world in between rains.

You are dedicated to keeping your citrus alive. Good job! Will the citrus branches that are exposed to the snow/ice/cold tend to sustain damage or does it depend on how long they are exposed?

The snow in no problem it is the temp. We got down to -1 last night which is really to cold for these so I hope they make it. It is all about the low temp and how long it stays cold.

Oh, I see. Yes, since a lot of your trees are more mature, they should have a good chance of surviving in the extreme cold, hopefully. Thanks!

The snow might even have an insulation effect hopefully like an igloo. Hoping all the best for your citrus!
