Glad I found your video! I also have a 2020 311bhs. Now I know exactly what I need. Hopefully they can match the key on my electronic rvlock. Having 1 unique key would be ideal! Thanks for sharing!
The slam latches on my trailer are so easy to pop open with a pocket knife, screwdriver, or coat hanger. If I don't have my keys and the latch is locked, I pop them open with my pocket knife and it takes the same amount of time as using a key. I am looking for a deadbolt type or a nice latch protector, kind of like what's used on some exterior building doors.
Roger, good point. I haven't seen this be an issue so far, but you point is well taken. I think you'd have to get a better gasket to put on the outside as the one included is paper thin.
Quick question I have the reflection 31MB. I understood that there were probably only 10 key sets So I understand I have a one in 10 chance for someone having the same key. Would you want to rekey the door then the cabinets locks
Mike, The entrance door on Grand Designs are the Global Link keys which currently run from G301-G390, so a 1/90 chance of having the same, assuming Grand Design is using the full range of combinations. I do not know if they only use a certain range of the Global Link system. Have you been told anything about what range they use?
Super helpful! One question: when you ordered the slam latch replacements, did you also have to buy the correct cylinder separately? Or did you specify in the comments when ordering which cylinder you needed? The website doesn't have the option to pick cylinders on the slam latch like they do with the cam locks.
I replaced the cam latch on the outside kitchen as seen in the video w/ the Global Key cam lock. If your are asking about converting a cam style to slam style, that would be a much bigger project as you'd have to cut out the slam latch profile in the door and attach the receiver plate. It is possible, but you risk having to buy a new door if you mess up. I'd recommend only swapping Cam for Cam and Slam for Slam with this system.
This was excellent! Thank you for taking the time to share this information! Very helpful.
i like replacing the thumb turn knobs on the hatches for added security from pry bar attacks

Super helpful, Brother! Thanks for the video!
Great video. I will be doing this soon. To much expensive gear to loose not to do this.
Thanks for the video, this helps!
Why would you put the gasket on the inside of the door. It should be on the outside so that water doesn't get inside the door.

Thanks Alex.
I just put it in the comments and it came with the correct cylinder already installed. You also get extra keys which is nice.
Can this replace the cam latch type?
