What Dreyfuss left out is that the audio technician actually held his equipment above his head at one point and yelled, "Fuck the actors! Save the sound department!"
I've always found it puzzling that the biggest stars of 70's cinema never made it past the decade. Richard Dreyfus and Burt Reynolds just disappeared, they had both had occasional hits in the 80's. 90' s and onwards, gone.
Hearing his unchanged voice telling a story about a boat sinking etc.... reminds me of the scene where hes telling Ellen Brody the story about his shark encounter.. while eating chief Brodys dinner
all those comments and not one mention about Dreyfuss being in the movie "American Graffitti with Ron Howard and Cindy Williams. Which is also a film with a young Harrison Ford in it.
The "American Graffiti" cast included a lot of unknowns who went on to be famous. In addition to Ron, Cindy, and Harrison, there was also Kathleen Quinlan, Mackenzie Philips, and Suzanne Somers.
I'll never forget seeing the movie, "Jaws" in the theater in 1975. My wife and I waited in the longest line I can ever remember at a movie theater. I was sitting to the left of my wife, and a woman was sitting to the left of me. I was eating my popcorn when the shark first came up for a bite, and the woman next to me screamed out loud and grabbed my arm, causing my popcorn to fly all over the place!
The fact that Bruce* didn't work most of the time is the very reason that the movie was so successful (and scary): Steven Spielberg was forced to use other methods to ratchet up the tension since he couldn't show the shark. Many many horror movies since that time have employed the same method. * In Finding Nemo, the shark is named Bruce because this is a tribute to the shark in "Jaws". And the shark in "Jaws" was named Bruce because that was the name of Steven's lawyer!
I saw that movie when I was a kid in 1976, at the theaters. I was probably like 8 or 9. I had no idea at the time, how close I lived to where they filmed it.

Richard still looks good even after all these years.
Yes, he does. 😀
He looks like chubby toad
Hes 81 now
@@equisequis.55 71, as of Sept.17/19
He looks good in person too...I met him at Rhode Island Comicon last month.
Robert Shaw was great ! Now that I think of it , I'll have to check out " Robin and Marian " again with him , Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn. He was superb as the Sheriff and the supporting cast was strong.
Richard Dreyfuss has the perfect narrators voice.
Just how much coffee, sugar, and goofballs did the director give Rachael so she would do all that overwrought fake laughing?
DON'TY KNOW HOW I ARRIVED HERE BUT AGREE COMPLETELY. JUST SHUT UP AND LISTEN YOU SILLY BITCH.
A guest's punchline is so much funnier when the host repeats it!
Wanted to comment to say precisely that
More like coke.
@jennifer86010
Best comment on here! 😁❤️
An excellent and enjoyable movie. The fact that it was shot on an actual beach gave it an extra level of realism
Talk about an over the top and loud presenter.
She’s nearly as bad as her pet food.
She's American 🤷🏼♂️
People that insinuate their obnoxious, loud observations are a pain!
They had a lot of fun and frustration making the film. Enjoyed it in '75 and glad it was a hit!
Oh that's cool, i saw it in '83(?) unfortunate for me as i was 7 at the time, lol. Great movie though, a classic.
@@in_vino_veritas7938 92 for me at 7. Watched it numerous times daily and still remains my favorite movie
Moby Dick, starring Gregory Peck was partially filmed in the Irish Sea. Peck almost got killed making the film when the tow line broke to the rubber whale he was strapped too. This according to an interview with Peck.
There`s loads more too, he`s wrong saying Jaws was the first movie to do it.
This is the most hilarious video I've ever listened to online! It cheers me up whenever I'm depressed. Thank you, Mr. Dreyfuss!
Ha ha - As a soundman myself - I can well beleive this story!! Thanks Richard, my *All-Time* favourite film!!... 🥰🦈 x
No offense to Rachael fans but wouldve been courteous if she didnt try to steal the spotlight on herself by interrupting Dreyfuss every 5 seconds
And in response to what Steven said, the old man held up his expensive sound equipment over his head and said "FUCK THE ACTORS, SAVE THE SOUND DEPARTMENT!!!"
Just want to say something i was livening in Crawley uk my doctor was dr shaw i kept looking at him so i said u look like the actor Robert shaw who was in the film jaws he had a smile and said he's my brother and he said he loved him so much made my day
He was perfect in that role.
I remember watching that movie in 1974 when it came out, shocking effect on everyone who saw it, what a great behind the scenes story.
May be wrong, but I think it was summer of 75???
@@mhayes22167 I graduated HS in 74, and remember seeing it that summer, maybe I'm senile, but pretty sure 74
@@mhayes22167 you are correct, June of 1975
It was June of 1975. I remember because I was 14 years old and we were in Florida on vacation and I was scared to go in the water. 🤣 Anyway, Wikipedia is your friend, look it up.
@@phillipsmom6252 I was eight years old, my parents had recently got divorced, and I went with a friend of mine, his sister and his parents, to go see this in Carrollton Georgia, it scared me so bad, that When theytook me home, I was scared to go up my driveway, I ran all the way, like a shark was going to jump out of the woods, lol
Great story but I wished Rachel Ray would have just let him talk.
Rachel: “tell me one”
Richard: *tells the audience*
Jaws and Close Encounters two of my favourite Movies
''Let it ride'' is an absolute must see .......
absolute must see❗️
Richard Dreyfuss is phenomenal in it‼️®️™️
Oh my god. So hilarious. Never heard this before. Best scene was in the cabin of the boat and the three men we’re telling their stories.
Richard is by far the best actor ever!!!!! I just love everything about him!!!! 🥀🥀🥀🥀.... From The Motor City......
I loved his performance in “What About Bob”
Me too!!
He's a smart business guy, because every jaws question is $10 bucks, so he's a Millionaire now!!
When he said Robert Shaw was going to die neat, I thought he meant whiskey without ice.
LOL Dreyfuss is awesome, love that guy
I remember, lifting my legs up in the chair while watching Jaws. There was definitely was a shark swimming around the theater when you are 11 years old!
What about Bob? He was hilarious in that movie…
Such a fan of R Dreyfuss💛
We saw JAWS at an afternoon matinee then after it ended, we got in line and saw it again.
Farewell to the ladies of Spain ta ta ta beautiful song. Mentioned in Orville's Moby Dick.
Please stop talking, interjecting and interrupting when a guest is telling a story. Thank you.
What Dreyfuss left out is that the audio technician actually held his equipment above his head at one point and yelled, "Fuck the actors! Save the sound department!"
I guess that Rachel Ray diet book ain't doing so well.
Rachael won’t stop laughing omg
She’s so annoying
RD...one of our greatest actors 👍🏻
Love Richard Dreyfus!💕👏🕊
I know Richard and his wife my mom works for them. He is nice and his wife is the best.
Marissa Bandera I’ve heard he’s extremely egotistical
That's cool
I want to hear more from Dreyfus.
Richard Dreyfus is one of my favorite Actors , he was born on the same day and same hospital,as my husband too
"Hilarious"? You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.
mdouglas3 That's inconceivable 😉
The sound man had a moment of his own where he said: "*BLANK* the actors! Save the sound department!"
The word is "fuck"
I've always found it puzzling that the biggest stars of 70's cinema never made it past the decade. Richard Dreyfus and Burt Reynolds just disappeared, they had both had occasional hits in the 80's. 90' s and onwards, gone.
Both Dreyfuss and Reynolds received Oscar nominations in the 1990s. So they didn't really disappear, but you know they are also now pretty ancient.
"always" is a tremendous film with richard dreyfus
Bryan...Dreyfuss won best actor for "Goodbye Girl"...
CMN...Holly Hunter in that white dress!!!! Whew!
You obviously haven't seen "Stakeout" or "Mr. Holland's Opus," have you?
Have always loved Dreyfuss, he is hilarious!
My favorite role of Mr. Dreyfus,
Will always be ,
Uncle Louie from the movie,
“ Lost in Yonkers”
Hearing his unchanged voice telling a story about a boat sinking etc.... reminds me of the scene where hes telling Ellen Brody the story about his shark encounter.. while eating chief Brodys dinner
Rachel......Let the guest tell the story. For the love of God...just stop interrupting.
Quint, RIP you were the best.
all those comments and not one mention about Dreyfuss being in the movie "American Graffitti with Ron Howard and Cindy Williams.
1916: 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea was filmed at sea and underwater.
I love the Jaws movie ...
Such a great actor, Richard.
Jaws simply would not have been the movie it was without Rachael Ray.
"this was no boating accident. It wasn't a propeller. And it wasn't Jack the Ripper. It was a shark".
Does this broad know how to let a guest tell a story without constantly interrupting him?
She is so annoying.
Rachel----giggling airhead of all time
An appearance in The Graduate; "Shall I get the cops? I'll get the cops." 😂
Loving Jaws I thoroughly enjoyed these stories from Richard. Thank you Rachael!
I saw that movie when I was a kid in 1976, at the theaters. I was probably like 8 or 9. I had no idea at the time, how close I lived to where they filmed it.
Thank you this was fun
I wanted to hear what Dreyfus was saying. Not listen to this woman's maniacal laughter.
