By far the absolute best best information I've ever seen on UA-cam about diagnostic procedures for any type of vehicle. I was a Senior Master Ford Tech and this Gentleman knows more about how to properly diagnose a vehicle then 90% of the techs I use to work with. Starting with least intrusive and working your way through the whole system. His knowledge of the Ford 6.0L is top notch and his way of presenting the information makes it easy to understand and follow along with. I have found myself watching all his videos now and enjoying each one and I already know all this information lol. Normally when I see these videos I'm yelling at my phone "NO! Stop! Your Wrong, that's not the correctly way!!" and thinking about how many people were lead astray from wrong information due to there local UA-cam professional Hack Mechanic. But that is definitely not the case with this Gentleman. Thumbs Up 👍 for sure and definite subscribe and telling everyone I deal with to watch and learn from a true professional. R.I.P Ron

I would like to say that i was recently working on a 2003 F450 6.0 powerstroke. I took the engine out redid Almost all the seals and gasket put it back and it wont start. I looked online for help because i was Sure i had put back everyting and every connector back properly. I have 15 years experience working on cars/ trucks so i was certain it wasnt something mechanical.. i had to look online for help and i came across Your channel.. You taught and improved my diesel knowledge soo much .. teaching me and all of us about IPRs and ICPs.. the next day ..which was yesterday.. i went to work with a confidant attitude and checked it narrowed it down and got it RUNNING.. Sir you have saved me... Your kindness still touches us RON R.I.P.

Ron I wish you had driven a powerstroke this year. Then you would've had a lot of metal between you and danger. Obviously that Beetle didn't do it. Wish you were still with us man. I only drive full size SUV's like Suburban and Bronco because I need metal between me and them. I wish I could go back in time and buy you some extra gas to drive a vehicle of size.
To Ron's family, I am so sorry for your loss. He was a good man.

    Ron Huxell,
You Sir have helped me out and saved me and my wallet numerous of times - to the point that I can help others getting they're truck's running. Where I'm at there are no dealership that know US Fords due to lack of import of new ones. The ones that are present are old and falling apart - even parts are hard to find. You end up bying Chinese junk sold as OEM if you don't import yourselves. Please do not stop making videos as I only have guys like you and Autoenginuity to help me out. Have to say FTE are greate - but nothing beats a skilled tech. like yourselves on high quality video.
Ron, you are giving away hard earned knowlegde and I thank and salute you for that.

Thanks for the well informed video. I used what you showed in your video to diagnose my 2005 Ford F350 6.0 that was having a hot start issue. It was not starting after getting up to operating temperature it would start cold fine and run fine however if I shut it down it would not restart. I used my Edge CTS to monitor the areas you showed. and the only thing was the icp pressure when hot was only getting to about 250psi. I did not test for air leaks because I was getting a code for the number 8 injector having a low circuit input so I started there. when I pulled it apart the top of the number 8 injector stayed attached to the high pressure oil rail.

Hi, just wanted to let you know that the 3100 series Caterpillar is a simular injection system too and I use alot of the same test but insted of 48volts for the drivers they use 120V. To test the 5Vreference voltage on sensors I made up a LED on a pigtail, that way any 3wire sensor you can plug in and you know that the harness and ECM is cool. Cat sells this tool all so.

It drives great once it's on but when I turn it off and try to start it it's a no go, sometimes if I wait it'll start but seems like batteries are really struggling. BTW Both batteries are brand new. I also get a low oil pressure when it's on and if I press the accelerator it'll go away sometimes it comes back

Great video, I always learn something that is accurate, clear and concise about whatever problem I may be having. I currently wished I had this scan app cause right now my truck is back in the shop after just getting it back. Truck was getting lack of power after driving it a short while. I would let it sit and could manage to get it started and away I went for only a short while (talking minutes) and then it would get very rough idle and eventually cut out if attempting to accelerate. 2K the first time in shop for them to clean turbo, replace ICP sensor and clean off IPR valve. Also had them put in a half FICM and PCM that I had planned to put in at a later date.I could use some help with my issue!thanks,

ron. iv been trying to trouble shoot issues with my truck and came arcoss your videos which are very informing! but the issue im having with my 2007 6.0 f250 is it starts a little rough in the mornings so i did a few fuel treatments change the fuel filters along with the oil. it did ok for a month or 2 then at one point it didnt want to start at all. i then checked the fuel filters again. they didnt look bad but changed them anyway along with checking the ficm and it seem alright so my last check was the egr. which was pretty dirty. so i clean it all up put it back together then it took about 15 cranks but was able to finally get it to start. alot of black smoke came out at the beginning. i drove it a round and let it idile for a little bit. then shut it off and started it agian it started right back up. the only thing is it start but when its a cold start i need to let it warm up for about 15 min. if not and i drive off before it will get to about 2k rpms and it will studder and i notice little puff of black smoke come out. my engine light is on which is how i came across this video. do you have any suggestions what could be the issue. or a in expansive code reader to figure out the problem? i like working on my truck but limited beacuae of tools. i just want too see if its something i can do myself or if its something like injector when i might have to take it in? thank you in advance!

go buy yourself a scan gauge II.. its the most inexpensive code reader / pid watcher. you can see everything you need on your truck for what its doing. what oil are you using? do you have the factory ford oil filter cap? it sounds like you have a few sticky injectors. what part of the country are you located in?

I actually just seen a video ron did on the obd2 blue tooth. I order one it should be in any day now. But i live in southern California. I was using castol magnatec 10 40 but the last couple times they didnt have enough to do a complete oils change so ive been using shell rottella 5 40. I my last oil change i used hot shot oil additive. Keep in mind it was already starting to act up. I did a fuel treatmet also and it seem to help a little bit but after i filled up again it seem to get worse. thinking its probably the injector too. Or in thinking th ficm. Even tho i checked it and it seem to be ok at 46. But iv also hear people say that ficm my test out ok but still be bad....

Very informative. My 07 f350 recently had very hard cold starts. Temps were near or below freezing. Experienced a few no starts and had to plug the truck in to get the block warm. However I later found that my ficm voltage would start off at 47 volts at key on, and then drop to 29 while running. Eventually going up to 47 again but would go back down to mid 30's as I accelerated. I've watched your videos for a while now. Helped me troubleshoot my truck.

Resealed injectors on a 6.0 all parameters are in tact but I still have a no start. 1476 hpop , icp .25, Ipr 14.76, ficm above 45. Did the ipr Air test no leaks.

Ron, I need your help again. I was changing the oil sending unit on my F250 6.0 2004 model and snapped the small hose off flush at the radiator. This is the small hose that goes from the top of the radiator to the reservoir. What can I do at this point. Can I plug the hole with something? Will I need a new radiator? Can I drive it to the shop. I'm lost here as to what to do. Thanks for your help...Mike

Hello Ron I'm completely perplexed..I cleaned my egr and replaced the gasket and rings and now I got a crank and no start while throwing no codes.
I would really appreciate any advice that you have.

What is the bit about vans at 5:30? FICM will drop voltage because of the "long run" - what is this referring to? I have an 07 E450 6.0 that was working great then turned into a crank and fire but no start situation.

Just bought an '04 last week , this week it's a crank no start . . . . just my luck ! My 1st ever 6.0. Can anyone give me a ball park figure on what to expect it to cost if it's a FICM . Last week it ran like a champ , had to crank a little longer than my 6.7 Ram does but hey , it fired up. Already blew my stash buying the truck so hoping it's not to bad ! Don't ya just love it ! LOL

Tell you what Ron your movies have made me a rock star at work. I'm 3-0 on no start 6.0s. I say that because it was all ways a shit show when these things got towed in we would throw all kinds of parts at it and waste all sorts of time. A fuel pump on one a FICM and a IPR valve. Thank you so much they are trying to call me the diesel guy now so keep them movies coming

My 04 won’t start. New FiCM everything seems right.
If I unplug the first connector on the ficm and plug it back in the truck starts.
Or if I spray break cleaner in it she starts for a few days. Thin stops starting.

I have a 2004 F250 6.0 Diesel truck. It was manufactured in 9-03, the problem that i'm having is when i am driving the glow plug light in the trucks dashboard comes on and the truck looses power. Any suggestions? Thanks Aaron
