The Gamecocks Have Been Very Impressive So Far this Season, with Three Wins Over Top 25 Teams, Scoring Over 100 Points in Two of the Three.
In this Eighth Game of the 2023-2024 Season, the Gamecocks of the SEC Face the Morgan State Lady Bears of the MEAC.
This Game Features the 2023 National "Sixth Woman of the Year", Kamilla Cardoso, Along with a Very Talented, & Highly Touted Roster of Young Players for the Gamecocks, and Sophomore guard Gabrielle Johnson who was named to the Preseason All-MEAC Second Team for the Lady Bears.

Thanks for the upload! I liked seeing the change in starting line up just to see if they can get out to a better start than usual which they did. Still really want a dunk from Watkins! I’d like to see more bully ball from Sakima. When they pass it to her she passes it back out a lot. Shoot it Sakima! You got it. Love seeing Raven and Bree hit the 3s. Pao Pao always doing what needs to be done. Free throws much better this game. Everybody who touched the floor did well. Great game Gamecocks!
This game speaks so very much about the coaching style of Dawn Staley, her care for her players, and her commitment to their personal and basketball development. After scoring 12 points in a good game against Maryland, Tessa Jonhson missed the next three games due to injury. She came back against Noth Carolina, and in 9 minutes attempted no shots and committed two turnovers. Against Duke she missed two shots and grabbed one rebound in less than 5 minutes. So, in their next game Maestro Staley puts Tessa in the starting line-up, plus gives her 26 minutes of court time. That was Tessa's first time leading the team in scoring. The next 2 times Tessa led the team in scoring was the Elite 8 victory over Oregon State, and the championship game against Iowa. Hats off to you coach Staley, God knows, you can't get game experience or self-confidence sitting on the bench. A lot has been spoken about your benching of Milaysia Fulwiley in the North Carolina game, and the positive effect it had on her going forward. But I want to recognize the undeserved favor you sometimes bestow upon your players, encouraging both their attitudes, self-confidence, and their performances on the court. God bless you, Coach!

I love that Dawn schedules these smaller schools to give them a chance to have a big name opponent on their resume to help with tournament chances, yet still manages to consistently have one of the toughest schedules in the nation.

Not sure what you're upset about. The comments here are about SC playing Morgan State, not Princeton.
The original comment was talking about Coach Staley scheduling smaller, HBCU schools like Morgan State (which is the game referred to), not Princeton.
SC did not play Princeton, and I don't believe they have.
Princeton has nothing to do with this, and was not what the original comment was talking about.

Why didn't Raven and Kamilla get the start?
Staley said in her post game that the new starting lineup was due to some of the players breaking team rules.
She said it was over with now and is not a long term thing.
I know she had to address some players earlier in the week about taunting other team's benches, so it may have been related to that.
She said she wants them to have all the fire they want, but don't let it turn into poor sportsmanship.
Yes, that was in UNC game.
