It took Maria two years to find her home on the outskirts of the village. She doesn’t regret the time it took because she discovered what she really wanted. “Lucy was so patient. She never pushed. She genuinely wanted me to find something I loved,” she says. They went on a journey together, and at times Maria found herself getting side-tracked by quirky properties that might impress her friends.
She realised though, that although she had dreamed of escaping to the Mediterranean like Frances Mayes in Under a Tuscan Sun, her dream didn’t actually include complex renovations. “You have to know yourself,” she says. “Since so much of my work, both creatively and when I facilitate people, is very much about the internal journey, having a very calm, clean, nurturing space is so important to ground - and as a container for all of that.”

Who is Helen Cummins?
Dr Helen Cummins is a lifestyle editor, publisher, and successful entrepreneur who has lived and worked in Palma de Mallorca for the past twenty five years. She began her career in her native Ireland, working in sales, marketing, and public relations in the financial services sector.
