Love the film. Respect for it. Every single scene. Every move of birds. In this film there are visible characters of those birds. The most amazing scene is at 3:18 - when jay was waiting until the last moment to trick the sparrowhawk. Awesome!
Beautiful footage. I’ve learned something here, I thought Sparrowhawks hunted purely by stealth catching their prey unawares. Hadn’t realised they harassed some prey like this.
And, of course, the Jay would quite happily eat any Sparrow Hawk chicks, right out of the nest, or even eggs...It looks like, in the previous video, the branch was baited for the Jay, there appeared to be a small plastic bag with nuts of some kind.
great to see you edited it into slow motion. It would have been a way too fast to watch in real time. Great camera work. hours and hours went into that short film. magnificent work with fantastic views and wildlife to co-opertrate for you.
Very nice captures Steinar., a joy to see. What shutterspeed did you use at 180fps, there almost no to little wing blur and I guess that 1/360 would create blur.
@@steinareileraasnaturefilms thanx, I have only 4k 25 or 1080 up to 100 fps (4x slow) at the moment do I want less wingaction blur when going slow. I normally use the rule of tvice the shutter over fps
After a bit more fought I wanted to add having a background in falconry which can be viewed as a "highly engineered form of bird watching" this is the fram e in which I all your video!
absolutely stunning congratulations on filming, editing and music the GH5 and a wonderful camera !! what optics did you use ??? Thank you so much for sharing
Nope, about half of what a female Sparrow hawk has,. a Jay weighs about 180 gram, i have trained a female Sparrow hawk & their average weight is 250 - 280 gram especially if its a young imprint
Thank you for this beautiful video. Both, sparrowhawk and jay together with the music its better than in TV. Well done.

Right at 1:13, it's cool to see how the hawk uses its legs to 'launch' off the branch!
Breath taking!
These shots are super! Thank you!
Amazing footage of my favourite bird of prey!
Beautiful footage.

CAMERAMAN OF THE WEEK 💙💚💛🧡 Lovely lighting , intriguing subject matter , attention holding 😀👍
Really beautiful, if seemingly cruel. Loved the pictures... each frame a gem.

Kanon video.
Bra jobba!
Jays love to play with their lives ;-)
Cool footage!
Interesting that the sparrow hawk does not want to prey on the jays when they are perched . The hawk prefers to attack while the jay is in flight
Great footage. I love sparrowhawks.
Notice it was a female that took down the jay. I doubt a male could take down a full grown jay.
great to see you edited it into slow motion. It would have been a way too fast to watch in real time.

Яструби найманеврініші з усіх хижих птахів!
A male sparrowhawk probably wouldn't have pulled that off.
Males like to practice, getting ready for the real event , but wouldn’t normally take anything bigger than a thrush sized bird . Brilliant filming.
Wow what a beautiful bird so unbelievably agile thanks for the video
Fantastic footage - congratulations!
Absoloutly amazing!
An impressive slow-motion chase. Great camera work. Thanks for posting.
Jays were taking it lightly. Lol
Gavilán contra arrendajo.
Great footage! Doku quality!
Nice work all around, where was this video shot?
Dalen, Norway
@@steinareileraasnaturefilms Thanks for the quick response. Wish I were there, cheers.
Excellent video . First rate .
Incredible footage.

Thanks Arild, i use mostly shutter angle 180d/shutter speed 360 when shooting yes :) i use some time 360d/ 1/180 in lowlight.

Great vid, where was this shot?
Thanks :) it was shot in Dalen, Norway.
beautiful filming 👍
Nice to sparrowhawk
Someone should get that sparrowhawk a bird book, the clue is in the name....
Did I miss the "catch" part?
Fabulous!
That Jay definitely had lots more weight than the sparrowhawk! Agile fliers!! Great footage, thank you!

Fantastic
I really miss my days when my brother had a male and female spar and when we both use to go hunting with his 4 year old male Accipiter nisus
Kanooonbra. Lekkert gjort.
👍👍👍
Typical female Sparrowhawk, catches way bigger birds. A male Sparrowhawk lives here and only catches small birds.
Good hunting
not a jay noooooooooo I love that bird I'm sad
Ola yo miro estis bideitos donde estas aves de rapina matan alas aves no sean asecinos y complise salven alas aves estan quedando fuera de distencion
They will have no birds left soon to eat
That is only a possibility because human destruction of habitat, illegal hunting and other threats to wildlife.
I have seen jay catch up sparrow hawk.. Jay are sparrow hawk natural enemies
For a male maybe, but the females are much bigger, and can hunt Jay's and magpies.
Pak Mat, haha, not true! This is impossible.
Cruel
Jean Dubois how? It’s nature
Maybe, but the sparrowhawk would starve if he refused to hunt.
