Your post couldn't of said it better, alot of devs in video games won't bother with small details because they think 'its a waste of time, most players wont see it'... But I friggin love the small details that acctually have a very large impact, hell part of the reason I love Metal Slug so much is its detailed animations, beautiful art design and those little details that add to the replay value
The Iceman/Mammoth Slug cave was the easiest to find for me in my first playthroughs of Metal Slug 3. I don't recall that secret route that led to the Ostrich, but maybe I had made it once. However, at more than a decade playing these games, I never knew there was this huge number of "secret" prisoners and that freaking Aladdin Lamp at Metal Slug 2. Thanks for this video!!!
I myself was having a hard time in lamp scene. I always fall and die, but it's easier to jump across to other side if you get mummified first before getting the lamp.
Maybe its because you had bad timing with your trajectory and the patience to wait for the traps to stop before you get to the other side. Its like crossing the road.

I have grown up playing the Metal Slug series, but damn that ostrich and that elephant on MS3 is so dope, I never imagined that there would be a secret path. I kinda predicted that the Genie part on MS2 would be the number 1 after seeing the 2nd boss trap on MS2
I wish sequels for this game series never stop coming. I want a new metal slug, it's been my favorite video game and series since I was just a kid. I have fond memories of wasting about 4 quarters each session at a cabininet and beat the game in one sitting.
The thing i liked the most was in the first metal slug when the credits are rolling and the camera follows the paper plane in the background you can see a little girl praying to a makeshift soldier grave (the rifle stuck in the ground with the helmet) and the wind blows her hat.
I knew all of them besides the very 1st one the "10th" haha damn I never tried to trow a grenade at that place since I take the secret route passing the first missile towers

In ms4 there's a secret monkey in the final mission. Basically the last scientist in the stage that turns you into a monkey shots himself turning into a monkey that earns you 2000 points when you catch it

my friend and i used ro have high score battles in metal slug 1 (and almost every other arcade game)but then i discovered this unlimited point glitch and wasted half an hour just shooting that thing to rake up the points.. the next day he wwas standing by the arcade cabinet with dumbfound expression and asked me ..howwwww?.. that moment was priceless...totally worth the quarters i put in the machine to get that hi score lol

I was expecting the aladin lamp to be in, it's even first, cool! I have played excessively MS 1,2 and a bit of X, I finished 3 one but never learned to play it on it's entirety and then there were too many of them and didn't play them much. I watch your speedruns, I know most of the secrets on 1,2 but there were still few surprises and glitches I didn't know.

Wasn't a legit score though. I mean if you spent half an hour then no. Do it once right before the timer runs out than you're set.
