I have a 2019 street glide. Been looking at the 2024 street glide. I wish Harley would have kept the cigarette lighter plug. I have a fairing mount cell phone holder and have my phone right in front of me. I can see my phone calls. Text. change my music on I Heart Radio. That's probably my biggest hang up to not buying the new street glide. And waiting to see what Klock Werks will come out with for a windshield.
Sounds like a solid reason. I have the road glide, but have test ridden the Street Glide and you have to look real hard to find something thats not likeable. I bought the Klockwerks windshield (12" and the 13.5") and they both work well. thanks for watching my video!
Did you ever figure out what the fundemental issue is? I have a 2024 Street Glide, and like you, eventhough I properly connect (well, I think I'm doing it correctly) my iPhone 14 and my Cardo Packtalk Bold, and get CarPlay working, I sometimes lose it while I'm out riding. The only error I get is a message on my screen saying "Device is not supported". As you mentioned, that's a real pain when you're trying to use Apple Maps and it suddenly disappears. The dongle you're recommending seems like it replaces the Cardo Packtalk, but once you have it set up, does it establish a more reliable connection? For me, I'd like the Cardo connection to be robust, since I often go riding with my wife and we communicate through it. Thanks for enduring the long message!
Great questions! I can answer with this statement because I don't want to jinx it, but the latest update installed while the bike was being serviced and (believe it or not) changing the case on my phone, seems to have made the difference. The update is understandable, but the case? That's right. I had a magsafe case that had a metal kickstand, for the lack of a better term, which seemed to be an obstacle for the secure connection. This weekend was the big test. The wife and I rode all day without any disconnection! Apple told me that the case could be interrupting the connection a while back and i dismissed it as a quick answer. As a last resort i took the case off and rode and it stayed connected the entire trip. Bought a different case (magsafe) and it seems to be fine. As far a s the dongle, it does take the place of the Cardo/Sena or any headset. We live in Texas with no helmet law and sometimes we like tool around without the lids. This fools the bike into thinking that threes a headset connected and frees up the bike connection for charging the phone if needed. Basically is a reliable headset connection that seems to be reliable for the apple carplay connection. thanks for the question and good luck with the new bike!!
I’m new to this platform, only had my ‘24 Road Glide for a month so I’m still learning. Before I took possession of the bike, I bought that Maedhawk and it’s been great so far. What happens if you plug in your phone directly into the bike, will CarPlay work without any other cables? Or is that only for charging the phone?
Hello Louis. Plugging in your iphone to the port will connect you to carplay, but you still have to have the headphones connected as well. The Maedhawk too away the need for a separate headphone source so essentially you could ride without the need for a sena or cardo etc. With this dongle in the video, this device plugs into a port under the seat and does the same thing ass the maedhawk, but frees up the charging port for the option of wired Car play, charging your phone of both. it was well worth the C note to me. The only issue now is if you wire to your phone, then the cubby is open and exposed to elements etc and the wireless carplay seems to crash (for me) about 30 minutes or so into my ride and i have to scramble to find my navigation etc. I am hard an heavy into the fix with Harley on this and a nice solution for the installing an exterior weatherproof port for the USBC connection with the bike to be able to close the cubby. I hope to post a video of that solution as soon as i find the right affordable products. thanks for the question and watching my videos!
@@Lous-Clues that’s a great place for it. My issue is when the CarPlay connection stops then the phone becomes my backup for navigating, unless I’m on a destination free ride. Thanks for the conversation!
@@drew8933 for the dongle it’s like adding a new headset, via Bluetooth. Then add that to the rider and you have no more worry about headset connection for apple carplay
This mod doesnt affect any quality and basically it takes the place of the headset need for the apple carplay on the Skyline OS system. in Short, this frees up the charging port while still fooling the bike that you have a head set. thanks for watching.
No. In will not work on the previous Boom audio radios. What will work is this part from Amazon ($8.00 +/-) Ill put the link at the bottom of this reply) but it will be wired, but it will have to be plugged into to your bike like charging your phone. It wont work if your bike has been flashed for a WHIM or on the Limited's with integrated headsets. I believe there are some adaptors that are meant for cars that may work for your apple carplay, but i haven't tested any on those. You can search those adaptors on UA-cam for a solution, if that is what your after. I install that on my bike 2 weeks ago and it cost $115 shipped to Wichita KS, works like a charm.
Thank you very much for the plug. We do accept credit cards as well as Venmo and Zelle.

I just got my 24 road glide and I am trying to order that plug. Do you have a link?
You can only call the number in the description. This is a small company and only takes orders over the phone.
Here’s the number in case you missed it. Torque custom cycles 201-880-6440

It’s a Kewig from amazon
How is the audio routed when that is connected? Can you still listen to music or hear navigation prompts?

Will it drain your battery even though your bike is not turned on; since it is directly connected to your battery?
No issues with draining the battery. It’s an acc connection
