First: The Remix of Madonnas Into the Groove (on Album You Can Dance) was released in 1987 remixed by Shep Pettibone, Alishas Baby Talk is a Track from 1985. Second: I.m.h.o. I think, that Shep has taken a bond from Alisha. Third: There's obviously no copyright injurance, because Shep was also part of the Producer from Alishas first Longplay. So, it won't matter. But all in all, Baby Talk is a powerful US-Dance Classic and has an entiled place in my 12" Collection. :-)
Into The Groove was first released in 1985 though the baseline was already present. Shep often reused his basslines, changing pitch, keys etc.

I always loved the intro that runs until 0:13. Those first thirteen seconds when I hear it coming on the radio I know its time to turn it up! Alisha deserved more chart success.

I think 'Get Into the Groove' (Madonna) 1985 sampled this bass line or this track sampled the other. Was it the same composer? He (or she) may have just did double duty with one bass line and two tracks?
Into The Groove was released before Baby Talk, but there was another version of All Night Passion which was released before Into The Groove that has this similar vibe. I suspect Into the Groove may have been inspired by the European mix of All Night Passion.

@@originalm3233 I'm not from Japan, am not sure if this is a hit or not by that time in Japan. As for Katakana, that is very common for "洋樂"(western pop) marketing and packaging. "Side label" is invented by Japan and somehow later becomes a standard package way for CDs and Vinyls in many Asians countries like Taiwan, South Korea, etc. As you may know, Japan is the first Asian country to "press CD" at early 80's, the audio quality is considered as the finest since then, they did produce many terrific CDs for the branch offices or licensees of Intl. major labels for developing Asian territory. Japan is also a super huge market for pop music, surely have space for many intl. artists to conquer. The fact is, artists like Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson, if they are no longer popular internationally, simply count on the support from Japanese fans, they can still live a good "DIVA" life. lol
@@linfair The katakana would be meaningless to an average Japanese person. They could say the word in katakana phonetically but it would not have any meaning to them unless they could speak already speak English. But as you said, this must be common with their packaging for foreign items. Is 洋樂 a Japanese word? This 樂 does not appear to be Japanese, are you from China or Taiwan if you don't mind me asking?

Loved that song in the mid80ies, but neither the voice nor the look of its singer. Too madonnesque - with less talent (esp. dancing skills if we consider the clip). Good track though - should have deserved more recognition!
