The CA Lorraine is the French hidden gem. MBT-like mobility with a punchy gun at 6.0
I remember playing this thing a year or so ago, when the side armor was broken. Only 14mm and it bounced basically anything flat on. So frustrating yet so fun when you play it.

Meanwhile I like the mk.3 most. Might be because it gets access to shells that can penetrate KV and T34 turret and hull fronts at longer ranges
The Cromwells are also incredible, they’re at a slightly higher br but it’s armour is actually pretty decent
2.7 Brits are my favourite BR under 6.7 with a line up consisting of - Crusader III, Matilda, the 2.7 AA car ( name escapes me atm ) and the 2.7 Spitfire with the Wirraway as a fighter / bomber 2 x 500lb + 2 x 250lb bird droppings. Totally outperforms expectations.

I love this tank it has always been my favourite even pre french update I kept using it when it was massively out br'ed it's easy to take cover with its low profile it's main downside is the flat turret face
Finally you played one of my favourite tanks in a game. Absolutelly the best 2.7 Br. Fastest turret traverse, 50 smoke grenades, excellent penetration, pen retention with distance, fast reload, and stabilizer!!!
T50, T28E & M3 all better, not sure I've even been killed once by a Crusader when using those but I've definitely killed plenty of Crusaders. One shot with some filler is all it takes.

That's what Crusader has, and those tank does not:
Gun stabilizer (it's massive advantage, your gun doesn'tt wobble up and down when you stop, so you will shot first most of the time)
Extremely good turret traverse
10 deg gun depression
High velocity shell
Very good Penetration for it's Br
Better maneuverability.
50 smoke grenades
That's what those tanks have that crusader does not:
Better one shot capability due to great APHEBC/APCBC shells
Better armour
More crew
Also, 57mm APCBC has great spalling, so most of the time i oneshot enemies.
You haven't been killed because rarely anyone plays it, i killed countless t50 and t28 in Crusader III.
Just as you said Phly , sometimes we ignore how fun it is to play at lower tiers. Looking at the british aviation tech tree , a truly MAGNIFICENT airplane is the very first spitfire : the spitfire MkIa . It is by far the most enjoyable plane I have flown in the game out of the British, German , Russian and American tech trees. I have even used this aircraft against tier III fighters and I managed to shoot them down. Just amazing maneuverability, firepower (300m converngence) and good engine capabilities.
I love the soviet I16's and early MIGs.
@@marcustaylor670 The I16s are ridiculously good as well, I ve been shot down by these planes several times . The good thing with these is that they are very small targets and it ia difficult to get a hit on them. I don't know about the early Migs but the I16 is a formidable adversary for both british and german aircraft

Yes, lower tier is where the fun is. My favorite American tree sweet spot (3.7AB): M10, M4, M4A1.
that turret rotation also is break neck fast at low BR its a beautiful tank one of my top 5 favorites alongside the Chi-nu II

the 6pdr is the most underrated gun in the game imo, the mov version on the churchill has similar pen to the american 76mm but fires nearly twice as fast
I regularly take this out in higher BR's. killing tigers and panthers in this thing is a joy. the smoke covers u up as u get around them. no one ever expects a crusader lol. you should try it as a challenge.

Crusader MkIII was such a beast when I got it, I also used it forever since most of the tanks I got afterwards weren't as good. The 57mm is just great at low BR, the cromwell I and Valentine with the 57 also were much much much better than the 75mm variants.
...and then came the Firefly and everyone was happy.

The crusader's smoke is also really good at giving your slower or higher profile teammates an easy, safe path to an objective.
The reason higher B. R's seem better is because the game always makes you research the next (higher br ) vehicle. And so when you go back to play low tier researching your high tier. You can get like 10 kills and 2 caps and leave with 1000 RP so although it's fun it's sort of redundant to go back and play low tier
About the crusader mk 3's smoke. I once covered our entire spawn in smoke with the logic that if we can't see us, the spawncamper can't see us. It somehow worked
I still use crusader in 5.7 br RB battles because of this smoke :D (and it still worthly against german tanks - especialy Tigers XD)

If i remember right the hole where the Smoke was shot is the Periskope on the right side in the back of the turret. They removed the Periscope and shoted out there with a smokepistol.
Now that i know those are helmets and not part of the tank, i can't unsee the lil crusadee with a wee lil British bowler hat on top
The crusader 57mm is a fantastic tank. A personal favourite that i should definitely show more love to.
Heavily nerfed though.

The Crusader mk3 is personally my favourite tank. It's fast, packs an Ok punch, and tons of smoke for the occasional trolling of enemy forces.
That turret traverse is delightful to watch
Honestly, I agree with going too fast trough early things point. For me good reworked economy would be first tanks going at around late Tier 2 rate, and around late Tier 4 grow stops. This will let us forget about stucking to one setup for ages when you grinding that new Tier 5 toy, but will also get us time to fun with earlier tanks and not pass them in 4-5 battles.

100% agree with you phildorfy. What kills the fun of WT for me is the god damned grind, knowing that once you've unlocked a new tank/plane you need to suffer trough a multitude of games before it's even combat worthy; is just a buzzkill.
This is definitely one of my favorite British tanks. Along with the premium Aussie tank, the fv4202, shitbarn, and AVRE
Honestly, when I get bored or frustrated grinding high tier tanks I go back and play low tier to get camos and Spades.
Let’s me really get a good idea of all the tanks playstyles and even find some under appreciated gems, like this!
I love the crusader mk.iii. It also got buffed not long ago, better turret speed and a stabiliser for the gun.
Ive only been asking for this for like a year and a half, but hey, I cant complain now that the vid's here.
I always loved Playing with Shermans the most.
Once i reached anything past that it was just so painful. With Super Pershing and regular Pershing being an exception.
Especially when it takes so long to research components and some vehicles like M46 get an AP round that just cannot stand a chance against pretty much anything of that BR frontally and now try to get the better rounds with that....
Or when you begin and before you unlock the parts upgrade you get killed so many times because of the barrel shooting....

I don’t know why you say “hidden jam”, i’m New at WT and my first tree is Britain because of that vid you made about the Daimler AC and it’s lyddite ammunition. And when I icled it up, I instantly realized how good the crusaderMk III is. It even works at 3.0! so I wouldn’t say it’s “hidden” since you kind of have to picki it up, and everyone who does realizes the value of this tank.
I realize it value in 5.4 br RB battle by mistake (or rather like "I lost my best tanks in 2 minutes because of that a panther 300 metres from spawn; for me this battle is lost and i don't wanna pay more repair cost so i take the lowest br tank because taking good one is useless")

Low shilouette helps when i sneak out from spawn, fast charge into enemy campsite/"snipersite" near their spawn and faced 2 campers - tiger and panther - who fu*k'd up first shot (only driver was killed) and because of that i had a chance to hit again Tiger and get a kill

I went down the American line and got my first 7.0 and 6.7 tanks unlocked, and found myself not having fun. Now I just play a 5.7 lineup the majority of the time and it's immensely more entertaining

Crusader is one of coolest tanks in the game, I love it since I played CoD2's tank mission.
About to be taken in for a critical surgery to repair a rapidly deteriorating lung in about an hour but that won't stop me from watching a Phly video.
And the few spaded low tier tanks of phly include the 3 inch gun carrier, superior British engineering has done it again

this vehicle can have fun with the AC.IV since that APCBC can pen nearly everything's frontal armor at 5.7 despite of JUMBO and it's really mobile and EZ to hide in complex terrain

The navy is currently a from of air arcade, considering how cheap the planes are. And not very balanced (which is fun if you play Pr.123 etc. but not so much for the early Brits). But the sounds are nice.
Ah, the British. May I bring to your attention is the Valentine Mk I. Or as I called it, the mini mini maus. While the gun isn't the best, it's slow, but the amount of bounces you can get in a game is hilarious. Take it for a spin and see what I mean. Attempt #1

For some tech trees, it kinda works, looks at France, bad first 2 ranks), rank 3 is okay, but rank 4 is where the fun is at.
But that doesn't mean you can't have fun with french low BR vehicles, you could take the *FCM.36* and the *F222.2* to show the world that french rank 1 isn't that bad.

I've done a few French tank battles but always lose the will to live even when I survive the battle and get a couple of kills it just feels painful. Italy is about the same and Japan is only just about playable.
If they were the first nations I played I would have left the tanks alone.
Even Russia which I started with was only playable in small doses as a beginner so I had to keep going back to air and naval battles. Once I had a fully modded BT7 I started to have some success and got into it then realised I should have started with the USA as they have the most playable beginner tanks.
7.0 British tanks can able to be fun for someone. It isn't like american or german tanks, but they're able to do something in the battlefield.. And, AVRE and Fv4005 are just Troll (yes, when you're destroyed an ennemy with one of them at 1.5 Kilometers with sadistic laughing.. that's an exception).
I can admit even that the low tier is more pleasant because there are more people and still the 3.7 / 4.0 / 4.7 is very interesting with the British tanks which can however have a good air support : Spitfire (3.3 and up) , Tyhpoon (Late at 4.3, good anti-tank), Firefly (FR Mark V in a 4.0 deck, Mark I in 3.7 deck) , Hurricaine (3.7 or less, with their rockeys) and bonus premium : hellcat Mark II.
I love to play 4.0 with Churchill Mark III / Achille Combo or 4.7 with Churchill Mark VII / Sherman Firefly Combo, they're anti-Kv1B.

no I agree whit you regarding high BR get a lot of salt but low BR is a lot of fun since I recently started the british line that 4 MGs SPAA is a nightmare when a plane get close to you it get shot to small bits
Play the A27M Cromwell I with a 57mm gun and a reload time of 5sec, if you are looking for fun this is the tank you need.
A great tank. The low silhouette also keeps you a bit safer, and with the lower velocity rounds you can arc shots over hills.
tbh the best part of the crusader is the smoke launcher load, yall can just clear entire open fields spamming them

Phly, if your viewing the armor and got to protection analysis, click the shooting button and it will show you and X-Ray of the shell damaged
Low tiers so chaotic so much fun, cant wait for the Italians, to spark some fresh life in to them.
Phly at 6:00 it launces form the box on the right side of the back of the turret there is a round thing that pops out there it is.
Honestly I'd like it if the "grind curve" got flattened out a bit - make the grind at the start take a bit longer, so you get to play with the low-tier vehicles longer, and the grind at high tier much shorter.
The higher you go with the crusader the more fun it is.
Also it is my most played vehicle, love killing leopard 1’s with it.
Don't forget that the Crusaders and others got a stab buff recently. They are beastly now!
