4:50 Gut reaction to this but I feel like especially for a rhythm game using floating point numbers for anything related to charting is not ideal specifically because of imprecision. IIRC Guitar Hero 3 tracks note charts in milliseconds using an int.
That's why; in snapping. We use math functions to snap them correctly so it isn't imprecise. This is modeled after arrow vortex and arrow vortex is the most precise snapping I've seen in a chart editor.
this is so cool but i also have a question 😭😭 how would you go about offsetting the note spawn times based off of the scroll speed so they always line up with the song? ive been struggling with this for a while but just the general equation would be awesome

For me unity has a lot of bloat, way more than something like godot. I feel like I can do more with godot, with less work. Unity also has this grime to it that is specific to it's renderer. It takes a bit of work to remove that, and I personally don't like how it looks.
I am not to sure how it could handle the playfields and slides as they span across multiplie lanes. Maybe an osu!standard -> soda could be possible with sliders and colors, but that would never happen considering the chart editor will stay private (and so will the source code of the game)

Why do you hate Unity? I'm dropping Unity for Godot+C# because of the whole weird corporate stuff but I actually liked working in it a lot
