Pity you watched the other one first, as you then knew what was going to happen with the foam buzzer. Mind not much of a surprise with the Hays B&B. But who knows. It is fishing and as we know, no certainty with this game. Thanks Graham. Take care mate. Shaun.
Hi shaun, I'm a recent convert from competition coarse fishing and I'm loving it! Your videos have been really helpful and its a great mix of technical and just the pleasure of fishing which we all need in our lives. Keep up the great work mate and thank you.
I actually had my first carp fishing this year. Not on the fly. It was great, mind I had a very good tutor. So pleased you are enjoying it. Beware of getting caught up in the numbers game. There is so much to this than numbers. Any help or advise required just ask. We will always be here to help. Thanks for your comment Michael. Great to hear from you. Take care mate. Shaun.
Thanks for the reply Shaun, now it's all about sorting my set up out as I think I'm possibly underguned a bit as my set up is a 6 weight 9' shakespeare agility with a 6 weight line and I'm struggling a bit? I'm going to treat myself to something for Christmas, what weight/ length/ action would you recommend? Thanks in advance Mike
Hi mate, not sure as to when I am on water again. Have been doing a bit of Garnffrwd lately. And want to cover a few other waters. Will catch up soon. Shaun.
They arrive strong. But after a few weeks in this water they are amazingly strong. Buggers my arm up. When doing the editing I could spend most of the time playing a fish. I have to edit so much out. So long as we are on the water, its always a good day. Along with the banter we have. Thanks for the watch and more so the comment. Take care. Shaun.
Its amazing what you forget when its good. I would not mind good for a bit longer. As I have told most already the method did not last. Fished it on two occasions, different waters and it failed. Which I am sure you will see in later videos. So what next. Its good to mix it up a bit on the waters, as not many patterns and methods are that successful. Unless we are on stockies. Thanks for the comment Stevie. Take care mate. Shaun.
The time away seems for me to have gone so fast. Getting back into it is so pleasing. Most of all due to people like your self. Your support means so much. Thank you. Shaun.
Just thought I had finished the comments. Better check and make sure. Trust you to be at the back and keep me up. And NO I have not come round to your way. good on the day crap days following. But stick with it mate, as the dry even now can sort the difference out. Catch up soon. Shaun.
Don't bother trying mate. Or you could, and on the day it might work. Done it twice more on two different waters and it failed. Its just one of those patterns or methods that works at the time. But it goes to show try anything. And what ever we tell you may not work for you on the day. But its good to take in, as one day you may think, try that. Great to hear from you Robin. Thanks for the comment. Shaun.
Hi Anthony, Yes some great fighting fish in there. On the water the other day and landed a corker on the Hays b/b. So we could be seeing a few big ones turn up over the next month or so. See you when your down mate. Take care. Shaun.
Hi Shaun. Great to see that you are able to be out and about again and sharing your adventures and knowledge with us all. Interesting perspectives and insights as always. And yes, sometimes, being brave enough to break the rules is the difference between blanking and having a successful day. Take care mate and all the best. David from Norway. :)
Mate your messing my head up. Changing your thumb thing. Hope this is it know. Good one mind. Big fish. Ye got to go against the grain sometimes. We would get no where if we did not. Besides I love trying things. It makes it interesting. And as you know we have a lot of opportunity to do so on still waters. Being there stacked full with fish. Not like the river. And some times it works out. This one did not. Fished it on two occasions on two waters. Fail, apart from a few knocks. Goes to show. Every day is different. Thanks for your long support David. Shaun.
Sorry about messing your head up Shaun. I thought it was about time I updated my thumb thing. The fish was my PB from Challk Springs in Sussex a few years ago. A few ounces under a double. I´m working on starting up my own, simple, fly fishing channel where I discuss current themes about UK fly fishing, from my expat's perspective. I'll keep you updated mate. :)
@@777-david-p9l Messing with you mate. The thumb is great. OMG a channel, brilliant. Not sure on your approach, but getting used to talking into the camera takes a bit of time. Unless your a natural. Setting up with good sound and editing. I use Davinci, the free version. More than enough for me. It can be a great pass time, so long as you have the time. And make sure your wife understands the commitment that may be required. As this will snow ball. It will take a bit of time, and you will learn so much on the way. Weather we ever get to the goal. Only time will tell. I am quite excited to see what you have. You will certainly have my support moving forward.
Not sure I'm a natural Shaun 😉, so lots of trial runs are needed before going public. I have an understanding and supportive wife, and I'm an oap as well. So, there is no hiding place there, I'm afraid. Thanks for your tips and support, mate 👍
We spend a good bit of time trying things. As you would guess it does not always work to plan. But its great fun trying. I would hate to do the same thing over and over. I think one of the ones I remember most is the one foot tippet. Second attempt. Should do that again some time as back then I was not as good at editing. So could be a lot better. Thank you Martin. For watching and most of all the time to comment. Means a lot. Take care. Shaun.
A method for the moment it turned out. I have since fished it twice on two different waters. Apart from a few bumps it was a fail. OK conditions may have played a part. But it goes to show, seeing a method may work one day but it is far from a guarantee. Its fishing. Thanks for your comment and support Cameron. Take care mate. Shaun.
Don't bother with those buzzers mate. Used them on two other occasions on different waters and they failed. OK conditions may not have been as per. But there are plenty of patterns to fish static. It was more the method I was enjoying most. Mind there might be something there worth looking at. Take care Mike. Shaun.
I have just noticed a notice from youtube. You have been given a heart as one of the top commenters on this channel. Thanks mate. Loads of hearts from Shaun Fishes.
Hi Shaun good video again. A have fished the suspender buzzer that way for long time now. Especially as the washing line set up. Unbelievable amount you get on suspender under surface. It seems get them going and tend get a lot on the nymph and buzzers aswell fishing it that way.
I never seem to get the same response with the washing line. But will try again. Nymphs and buzzers yes. Fished this method on two other trips, different waters. Nothing or as good as nothing. Goes to show. a method and pattern for the day. Not consistent. Thanks for the comment William. Take care mate. Shaun.
Thanks and no problem. Having a bit of space helps. So I am trying to get a bit of a run on while it lasts. Thanks for the comment. Means a lot. Take care. Shaun.
Awesome video mate.. Well enjoyed that... I bloody blanked at harpsdale yesterday... A BLANK!!! ZUT ALORS!! 😮.. that rarely ever happens to me... I was buzzering it... Bunging it.. Midge tipping it.. Drying it.. #18s.. And not a bloody sausage.. I went home and got pissed instead 😂 😂 😂 Aaaw mate I hate blanking.. 5 hrs of nothing.. On the plus side though the session cost me nowt so at least that's something.. Our place is screaming for fresh fish... We're still getting June's last stock... So unfortunately no video from me this week... Hope your doing well mate Ross 🍻
A blank means NO fish, are you sure you got that. If you do, it means you are human. Shit even Justin has blanked. OK not much, but he has, and so have most of us. June since last stock is unreal. And you still catch on such variation. Would love some of that stock down here. Bet its starting to get bloody cold up there with you. I'm finding a bit of space at moment. Putting all shit to one side for a break. So getting a bit of time for the channel. Thanks for the comment Ross, Take it easy mate. Shaun.
@shaunfishes101 yeh it's been slim pickings for a lot of anglers just now... I'm gonna try tomorrow hopefully if the weather's in it.. I'm wanting to make another video for the pube but that depends if I catch or not 😂.. It's gonna be 3 degrees tops tomorrow so I'm thinking bung or midge tip and fish sloooooow
I have success with this with a bibio coloured pattern I swing and summer, and similar with a foam daddy in autumn. Worth trying a NZ style small buzzer about 6 inches to a foot under the daddy as well...
Ye Bibio, Daddies and Dabblers are all good for surface sport. But what I found on the day is that when they chased, they would take when then left static. I have a feeling this could be more down to its size. Any way two trips following it has failed. Not completely. But a fail. catch up soon mate. Shaun.
Interesting variation on the technique. Under those weather/light conditions seeing the white suspender would be difficult. Have you considered colouring the top quarter inch of the suspender with some flouro colours e.g. Pink, yellow or orange? We all see slight differences in colour shades and have a greater sensitivity/preference. There some excellent Sharpie pen permanent colours to choose from
No need to worry about this John. Fished this pattern and method on two different waters since. And it failed. Its another one of those patterns and methods that works on the day. Pity, as it was great fun. I will work with the idea mind, as I think there is something there. And when it comes to sitting it on the top waiting. Well I am not as interested. As there are a lot of patterns we can use to do this. Thanks for the tip mind. Take care and thanks John. Shaun.
Hi Shaun, I had one rainbow on Farmoor yesterday on a black mamba, G Wilson pattern. For the rest of the day I tried everything in the fly box and ignored emerges, I wonder, what if 🙂. Thanks again great video. Dermot
Heck how many what if's I think at the end of a day. But I do try a lot more things than most. Mainly out side the box. But that's the reality of fishing for you. Every day different. Like in this video, had I not had that fish chase to trigger me to try things. Who knows. I certainly would have not had so many. Oh and while we are on this. The method has failed on two different waters, different days. Very typical of most patterns and methods. I'm sure the Black Mamba will be sorting a few fish over the coming months. Gareth has a great pattern there. Thanks for the comment. Take care. Shaun.
Its Hayscastle, Pembrokeshire Matthew. Great water with a cabin made for the angler in mind. £20 first fish kill then c/r or keep additional fish £5 a fish. Barbless hooks as there are Brown and Blue Trout in there which have to be returned. Open Thursdays to Sundays.
Brilliant video thanks. Really enjoyed that.
Pity you watched the other one first, as you then knew what was going to happen with the foam buzzer. Mind not much of a surprise with the Hays B&B. But who knows. It is fishing and as we know, no certainty with this game. Thanks Graham. Take care mate. Shaun.
Good stuff Shaun, a red letter day on the dries that’s what it’s all about ✌️
It was amazing. But how lucky. Check out the next video and see how things change in fishing. Thanks for the comment Stuart. Take care mate. Shaun.

i always enjoy your videos Shaun, one of the best out there on Stillwater fishing, great content and information.
Thanks Michael that's very generous of you. But at the same time inspires me. Thanks so much. Take care. Shaun.
Another great video my friend you worked it out in the end ❤

cracking video always a joy to watch
Thanks. Hope I don't run out of ideas. Glad you enjoyed it. Take care mate. Shaun.
Excellent video, as usual.
Thanks Mark I appreciate the comment. Hope I can continue with the same standards. Or better would be nice. Thanks again mate. Shaun.
Hi Shaun, another practical and honest video, will have to get my lot down for another visit and tie up some of those buzzers, stay well butty.
