So interesting how lángos evolved to be a Christmas market food item in Germany. In Hungary, we only eat it in summer, on the beach. But you reached for the classic Hungarian variety, topped with garlic oil, sour cream and cheese.
I got to spend a total of 10 years in Germany.. I loved everything about being there.. especially the Christmas markets.. I have a collection of glühwein mugs too. At the markets, I loved getting flammkuchen and schwenk mit brötchen as well as maronen. But I agree that a bratwurst is never to be avoided.. I really enjoy watching your videos and being transported back.. danke schön
4:27 Strange. You say, that was a chicken-sandwich , but it’s called turkey-steak-Brötchen! What was it now? My favourites are Glühwein, Lumumba for drinks and Schwenker, Dibbelappes and Currywurst
Ahhhh the markets in Germany look amazing. I’ve just got back from Warsaw and visited their Xmas market, it was good but nothing like this! Today I’m going to the one in Manchester UK! I remember last year I got a veggie wurst and sent you the pic on Instagram hahahaha - if I get one I might do it again 😂😂
I have been to many Christmas markets in Europe, and I find Germany does it the best: not cheesy or over-the-top, just classic, cozy Chrismas atmosphere
Love when you and Deana go to the different German Christmas Markets, the lights against the dark, I can feel the warmth and imagine how Christmacy it smells. All the food I would love to eat, the sausages, the breads with delightful things on top, the spaetzle with carmelized onions and cheese, the grog, all of it Lol. Thanks Phil and Deana for taking us along.🎄
Langos is similar to "Indian Fried Bread". The texture is not as crunchy as the Langos and toppings are similar to Mexican toppings (i.e. ground beef, shredded cheese, lettuce and tomato) and can also be topped with honey or powered sugar.
To buy a battle axe. Sending someone to Christ. Very German. Funny thing. A few years ago I bought my brother an axe since burglars were active in his neighborhood. I must be German then😂
OMG were we there the same night?? My son and I traveled over from Holland for a quickie trip to Cologne on the opening night of the Dom Christmas Market. We got a bit wasted on gluhwein and schnapps, ate bratwurst, mushrooms with garlic sauce, raclette cheese, and fried potatoes with garlic sauce YUM. I'm looking right now at the lovely Christmas decorations we bought from the Dom market. We also tried to go the 2nd market (2nd in your video) the same night but it didn't open officially until the next day. We went back the next morning around 11 and enjoyed it a lot though we were a bit hungover 😁😇😛. LOVED this video!! We took some great photos of the Rhine, the Dom and the markets and ALL the sparkly lights!
Not worth it… very expensive, every time u get something to eat u think u just got the kids size and it’s mostly not even done with good ingredients but the cheepest once… no space to walk and ofc the best one when peaople come with dogs… Im from cologne and I’m there every year and still don’t understand why… there is nothing changing…
My wife and I were in Cologne last December. The Christmas Market was enjoyable but very crowed. My wife loved the Famm Lachs. We both enjoyed the champignon. I enjoyed the gluehwine.
I missed the Christmas markets as I came home fortuitously early November 2019. I sincerely hope I can come back to enjoy these wonderful German markets in the future. Alles gute viel Grüße aus Nue Seeland ❤
Prices really exploded in the last 3 years... REally sad. I remember 2019 a Bratwurst was 2€, now it's 4,50. Crazy... Thank you for your lovely content. Have a great "Adventszeit" 😊
@@martinkasper197That doesn't apply to Christmas markets (and all similar venues), as they SELL their food and do not serve it. VAT for sold food and drinks will still be 7% as before.
Prices have exploded everywhere! Although I think in the USA we still pay more for the basics like butter, bread, cheese, milk… I do miss Christmas time in Germany 😢. Totally different mood. Merry Christmas and happy Holidays to ALL ❤️
@brittches It lacks some “spice” and „excitement“,as seen few years ago. Namely Münich, Berlin…those „ guests”, just wanted to celebrare, with you, as well.🤭
Best part of Germany's winter would be their Christmas Market? Trying to figure out best time to visit though I don't like cold weather, that looks like a great and delicious experience.
I come from a small town we don’t have such delicious options here in Canada…….I was envious or your choices and the market itself was quite remarkable…… L.A 🇨🇦
Lived in the Nuremburg area from 1976 - 1980. Really miss those Christmas markets in downtown Nuremburg. The smells of the Christmas markets are incredible!
CHICKEN OPTIONS FOR THE WIN!!!! No it's not traditional but a definite GODSEND for folks that can't eat beef or pork!! Talk about struggling to eat so bad last year~ that was so great to see this year. They can have my money! 😁 Don't sleep on the Hot Rose (drink) because it was delicious too!!
Its so cool seeing a video showing the place you live😊 I was just out at the Markt vorgestern, i wondered when this was filmed and kept on eye out for myself in case i was there😂
Oh love it all!! Raclatte and the bratwurst is my favorite. Also a man shaped bread that was slightly sweet I had in Switzerland. Sorry can’t remember the name.
Oh how I miss the Christmas Markets and the Glühwein. Next time don't get the Putensteak Brotchen, get the classic Schwenkbraten. That was always my favorite street/market food. That and the brats with curry ketchup. Ah yes having a schwenken in one hand and a gluhwein in another. But more gluhwein danke - Prost. Hopefully I will be there for 2024. Been wanting to take I girlfriend to the Koln Christmas market for a couple of years now. Maybe this will be the year.
The muzen looks like the Dutch oliebol. We eat those to celebrate the New Year. But of course those stands pop up from the end of november aswell. Sometimes the dough containes raisins aswell if you choose.
Köln (Colognes) Christmas markets near that beautiful cathedral look very inviting,I used to go to the München (Munich ) Christmas markets and bought nice things for my Christmas tree and yeah the bratwurst was delicious
Spätzle is not a macaroni ! It is made differently and the texture is different. In Austria, Kase Spätzle is made with Bergkase which has a lovely strong rustic taste and stretches in the same way as mozzarella. This dish, in normal portion size, is not for the faint hearted as it is VERY rich 👍
10€ for a filling meal became kind of normal. So if you get something for 6€, you know it's a starter ... or a desert. And to try different things on the market, it's a good size.
We’d love to visit Cologne Christmas market. Great mug. We love collecting those. Bratwurst is a must in a German Christmas market. There was a lot of gorgeous food there. Loved the crafts. The langos looked incredible. We enjoyed your Ferris wheel ride. Cheers for sharing. 🍻
HI Deana and Phil :) glad you liked it in my home town :) Cologne Xmas Markets are all different ones (and have their own names based on their location ) but are often so close to each other that they appear as one huge ;) . At 11:40, I know these named Krapfen rather than Muzen, because easy to mix up with Muzemandeln who are smaler and come in a pack if ~ 10, also very comon sold on the markets.(de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutzenmandel) thanks for sharing and happy advents-time !
When i first moved from Pennsylvania to Wisconsin i did not know what a brat was. They were just not a thing where i grew up. My husband and all his friends laughed because i didnt know what a brat was, as its pretty much in their blood stream here lol. Now i know and i very much enjoy them, still not a fan of sauerkraut though lol
Die wollen mittlerweile 5 Schleifen für ne Bratwurst ? .. ich geh am Stock. / They really demand 5 Bucks for a Bratwurst ?! Disgusting. I paid 3,50 last Year... anyway.. as always amazing content ! :)

A steak is a grilled slice of meat. It's not specific to certain animals. You can also make it from other meats such as some fish.
In America a steak is beef unless otherwises stated.
The Christmas market was very unique and nice. All the food looked so delicious. Thank you for sharing.
If you want to see crazy prices at a festival in the U.S. just go to any state fair. At the MN state fair even the cheapest things start at $10.
I should have stayed in Germany after I discharged from US Army, I loved Germany and the people.
Wow these markets look magical
They are, and they make you very cristmissy and traditional, therefor the 'must eat/dtink'at the beginning 😀
Die Weinachtsmärkte in Köln sind so schön. Lovely video 😍
Visiting Cologne again in 1.5 week, always stay for a few days to shop and book the lovely Mondial am Dom hotel.
Maybe you get a discount this year😂
@@Andreas_Cologne I'll ask for an upgrade 🤣
I don’t know what they’re called, but in Jever, they have raisins soaked in rum. So good!
Deana and Glühwein always fun😂
gosh i love! our christmas markets here in germany
Beautiful and fun. Love bratwurst and brochen.
Brötchen

Where do you get the Indian Fry Bread Tacos as I would love to try it. I'm in the US so maybe in certain region?

When you snapped into the first bite, 🤤 I miss brotchen and real bratwurst
Great video but the best and most historical one is the Striezelmarkt in Dresden ;)
Now I'm starving😂.
I wish we had those near me!
Also, I've seen you get creamy, delish cheese and noodles there. Those looked so dry!
Love you guys! Happy Holidays!

Looking at this and how expensive the ones in UK are . Bratwurst her if £8

Well done, Nice vidéo. Have a wonderful Christmas 🥂 🍾 🎄 ✨️ 🎁 ☃️ 🎅 pozz svima ot sefer I marija. Francija
Dieser Musen sind die wie oliebollen in Holland?
Do you decorate your home after Thanksgiving or before
If it doesn't have Schmalzgebäck, it's not a christmas market.
Ich kaufe ein z.
@@Andreas_Cologne korrigiert. Danke dir ;)

Ja! Maar zonder krenten. Krentenbollen zijn mijn liefste, ook rum-rozijnenbollen.

Wie soll man denn negative Videos von Köln machen?
Kölle Alaaf!
dude, since when does Puten mean chicken? love you guys though
