This is a wonderful tutorial! The instructions were clear and your explain why things behaved they way they do! Seriously thank you, you have gained a subscriber!!!
perfect....but due to different AS layout and version, it took me some time to find the v7 version. But finally finding all the correct settings and seeing live what happens changing android: to app: was a good exercise.
Have you imported the support library? Also, it may be that if you spelled it like you've written here, one letter is not right. It should be "widget".
Yup, i think that was probably the problem - after a few hours of messing and rewriting it turned out everything works now - though theres still 'attribute not declared' warnings giving out from the support library namespace
Hey im getting black screens from the emulator, forcing me to use a real phone, installing it every time a new test is required - do you know any solutions to this? I have already tried a few from forums but did not work
I really don't know, sorry. I'm usually also using a real device because I constantly have problems with emulators and Xamarin when developing any kind of non-trivial app.
Sounds really cool :D I recently switched from unity to xamerin, mostly because of the bad performance of non-game apps in unity and your videos have been a great help so far.
One of the best tutorials on UA-cam! Great work!

Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! So easy to understand!
android.support.v7.widged.GridLayout says its an invalid child element - any idea what could be wrong?
Now the gridlayout is fine, but its spamming attributes not declared - this is so broken

Yeah, those warnings will always be there. It drives me crazy :D
