Qawwali comes in it's essence from the word قول (Qol) which means "utterance" . Someone who says a قول is a قائل (Qaail), the superlative is a قوال (Qawwaal) , who repeats himself excessively. So every song, that repeats it's words or verses excessively is a Qawwali in definition.
Unlike hypocritical Indians who don't mind stooping so low to even attempt to undermine sufism's well-known intrinsic integrity with Islam, by idiotically claiming that it is derived from secularism; at least these highly talented Western brother lovers of sufism are commitedly and honestly enlivening its musical aspects even without neccessarily being Muslims themselves. May Allah reward all those involved in it and in its sterling presentation over this site, irrespective of their various own convictions, in the manner that only HE knows best, ameen !

love how hindus/sikhs like to take islam out the picture, it is islamic classical music, sufis are muslim mystics their entire point is to be able to get closer to God through their music.
Sufi is essence of true religion. True religion is life itself. It’s not Islamic, Hindu or Christian! This feeling of deep devotion is expression of deep gratitude which can arrive any heart...it’s not confined to any religion, race or nationality or colours.

You've taken away my looks, my identity, by just a glance.
By making me drink the wine of love-potion,
You've intoxicated me by just a glance;
My fair, delicate wrists with green bangles in them,
Have been held tightly by you with just a glance.
I give my life to you, Oh my cloth-dyer,
You've dyed me in yourself, by just a glance.
I give my whole life to you Oh, Nizzam,
You've made me your bride, by just a glance.
You've taken away my looks, my identity, by just a glance

miss Amina you forget about Abida Parveen the great
abida parveen been in shrines dear amina chisti
She is talking about a female tabla player specifically.
sufi is very very Islamic dear
111
She is not in dargah settings...
You guys look very sober in the interview perhaps Colorado would have been a better place for the interview.(marijuana)
interviewer is not good, ends dialogue with a tone of dismissal and rudely succinct "ok"
making west understand Sufism is difficult and it not islamic music . Sufi are seculars .
Ajay Dutt anyway it is related to Islam sir. :)
love how hindus/sikhs like to take islam out the picture, it is islamic classical music, sufis are muslim mystics their entire point is to be able to get closer to God through their music.
Ajay Dutt , don't miss guide
