I remember back in 99' and early 00's the street race scene was on fire, cops were just starting to get a taste of it-remember them huge Fullerton in-N-Out meets?? ahah. You look at it now, they have caught on and have put things in place to end it - like getting rolled, even if you're doing everything right , sending you to state refs. I've noticed that if you look like you're racing (meaning you have a car that stands out) or sound like you're racing (loud exhaust) you are getting rolled. Cops have dropped the hammer and it hurts...a lot because you can't drive around town without being harassed, especially if you didn't deserve it. I feel like the youngsters have destroyed what little of old school"street racing" we had left out here. Them street takeovers and social media click bate blasting car antics has triggered a state wide response from law enforcement. I have a 430whp Honda S2000- way sleeper looking Selim Bradley 😂 very quite exhaust (WS2) and I still feel like cops are targeting me because the S2000 bleeds street racer to them, and guess what, they will pull you over just because of that assumption - AND I HATE IT. When homeboy said the track changed him in a way, triggered me to write this haha I may have to look into tracks near the 90631 area - I've never been or even educated myself on it - I'm all about the random street race. Well, that may have to change now. I don't want to worry about getting rolled, popping my hood, them seeing a CARB legal Comptech supercharger and CARB legal header and still get ticketed and state reffed. You know that feeling, when you're driving your daily Honda Civic, and see a hooked up import or domestic car and are like "damn, i wish i was driving my race car right now" but it's parked back home haha That's the street racer in me, but I rather trade that feeling for the track and know that i wont get hit with these huge ass finds, tickets, state refs etc. I wonder if the rush is the same??? The past day or so, I've been watching vids of car enthusiast and their state ref experience - that shit don't look fun at all. I've put thousands of dollars in my AP1 engine, and to have all that money blown away just because a cop wants to be a dick, yeah not cool. Regardless, to all you youngsters, it is yours now. You've turned it into something else and it has caused a huge change. So Cal street racing is no more, and I feel like it is time for me to let go. Throughout the decades, it's brought me so much pleasure and happiness - from seeing mustangs, camaros, 370Zs, subarus, chargers, vetts, etc in my rearview mirror to seeing the asses of ZR1s, hellcat (one time), R35s. It is what it is, it seems like the track is my final option. Just had to let it out, it's been killing me for years and hoping that some sort of her would come back.
