Kensei is a cool hero in my opinion, he has so much mixup potential and good out of stamina punishes but people just play him to lightspam and dodge attack only. its sad. I don't hate the hero, I just hate the people who play him to do only that.
Kensei will always be my nemesis. Even when I bait their dodge heavy, the fact that he dodges left but the attack comes from the right STILL fucks with my brain and I'll eat the heavy half the time
Sometimes I prefer doing the impale wall splat instead of a top heavy punish on a light parry. For one you get guaranteed 30 damage, and ( I find that I use less or about the same amount of Stam as a top heavy) the recovery time is faster so the zone option is toptier after the splat. Also most people try to dodge afterwards, more times than not.
After your tier one slap and light attack just throw a side heavy as quickly as you can, people eat it if they gb and it will trades with light attacks. Only side heavy tho not top. And light attack into tier one slap faint into side heavy. If you faint the slap fast and immediately throw the side heavy it looks alittle trippy
@@DJM3nos his kick had hyper armor. He was able to quad dash with a specific input and his backflip range was much higher. I'm likely forgetting something but those were the big 3 that hurt him
Alright this Kensei depicts perfectly how I feel about For Honor these days : I have a problem with DODGE ATTACKS ! They are meanwhile just EVERYWHERE. And while the dodge+light is easily punishable (Orochi, Nuxia...), the heavy dodges (Kensei, JJ, Shaman, Shaolin, Gryphon, Warmonger) and the dodge+bash from Gladiator make me slowly lose interest in that game. Even if you bait it, even if you read it, you just can't punish them enough. You only get one light, and only a few characters can punish more (like Kenzo does with wall splat bleed). And if you look at it, those characters are all over the place now. I mean the whole WuLin are basically dodge attackers. Dodge attacks are powerful Option Selects and it's ok they exist. But I played like 3 hours straight duels yesterday and 90% of it was about dancing in a ballet of dodge attacks. Awful.

When they dodge, guard break and parry, interrupt their rhythm. It will make it harder to dodge dance around you cause you will be guard breaking and parrying them into oblivion if they choose to keep dodge dancing.

Quick tip : if you swift strike with kensei and you throw another heavy to the side fake it out and do a guard break like 70% of the time you should get a guard break
You know for what it's worth, the first Kensei in the video was actually trying to use mix-ups against Kenzo, but I guess he saw the futility of it all when the continuous parries started setting in. I feel for him, but he started playing scummy and was handed divine justice as a result.

If you parry a light or heavy if you can impale pin them that is the highest punish available. Impale is 30 while top heavy is 27. You did the right thing.
Heavy dodge attacks need to go. The game turns into slugfest of endless heavy-feitns to provoke the heavy-dodge user to parry it for a measly 13 damage on average. Even if I do 100% of parries that way I still played three times longer than should have had
