@Battleneter The 7900 XTX and the XT have more than enough power to not need it through 4K. Even if they did it isn't that much of a difference. Motion is better on DLSS but image clarity is better on FSR. Haven't used them have you?
@Battleneter I'm not opposed to the price if it allows you to do things you wouldn't otherwise be able to do. I now have a 6K HDR600 monitor. The clarity, colors, and levels of gray are phenomenal, but it is limited to 60 Hz. The 7900 XT was getting 45 native, but with FSR quality it went to 60 improving motion. The XTX can do it at 60 native. If the Monitor had a higher refresh like 120 then it might be required to have something like the 4090. All three cards have the most important feature which is greater than 16GB, but at 6K you are pushing very close to 20. The 7900XT is easily the most under rated best value card with an easy tune.
@RmX. Exactly, or a QD for a bit more money. I wish they had a 27" QD OLED 240 HZ. 32" is just too low a pixel density for me. I had them for years, but Apple is correct about image quality and pixel density. When Apple introduced the the 5K Imacs I bought my first Apple. Loved the screen and the OS then was still pretty good. However Ryzen was released a couple of years later and that was a seismic shift that I couldn't ignore. So it was back to 4K.
They overclock/undervolt wonderfully. They also look really good. I have the Black 7900 XT and XTX. Used the 7900XT until just recently, because I am running a 6K monitor. The XTX doesn't require FSR to get to the 60 FPS the monitor can handle in Riftbreaker.
@@robertmyers6488 Thanks for adding! Haven't tried overclocking or undervolting yet, might do that. Yeah, it looks amazing and really sturdy, the backplate is amazing too as well as the cooler.
@@volkswagenmember yea ik, the 7900gre is in my opinion a better option than the 7800xt in terms of price to performance, since its only $20 more and the 7900gre is around 5-10% better than the 7800xt an increase like that on the nividia side of things would be a price difference of $250 lol
Had to make this decision when I was building my new rig. Went with the 7900XTX Taichi and basically upgraded my entire setup with the grand I didn’t donate to the green machine.
Lmaoo! Same, sapphire nitro+. Got lucky on my silicon too, it can handle undervolting to 1065 and still play my entire library without crashing. Overall, happy with how it turned out and the money for me also went into some great additions. Glad to see other folks going price/performance instead of feeding these garbage market prices nvidia says are "normal" at the moment
My taichi runs super hot! I have 3 case fans and it’s still overheating and will shut down. I did a slight undervolt and that seemed to keep average temp from 92 to around 88 during OW gaming at 4k
@@RizzzTardyeah a 7800xt ain't gonna give good FPS at 4k, gonna be at most 60fps onna decent heavy game or even less than that. I got 7800xt and it's solid at 1440p, above 100fps usually.
@@TheRealName7 Depends on the games, If my guy wants to play Cod,Elden Ring , Monster hunter world . 4k120 is on the table for most Games , 60fps only for newer Graphics intensive games
I had it exactly the opposite way. Always AMD cards and the only time I bought 2080 Ti, it was DOA. So I stuck with AMDs again. Now rocking 7900 xtx for a year also and super happy all around.
AMD will, for now still, give "age like fine wine" experience. Bought my Nitro 7900XTX February 2023. Only updated drivers 3 times with known working versions. And every incremental update has brought out more and more performance. For the price, it just cannot be beat.
You won't "fix" 120Hz max on 4090 (in DUHD/2x4K resolution) unless you'll physically change display port for a newer one. Maybe some company will release DP 2.1 4090 (and will charge $2000 for it). But probably not.
The thing about RT, is that it's great on the 4090, but below that card, it destroys frame rates to the point it's not worth the trade-off for a bit of extra bling. For First-person Shooter games, RT and DLSS etc are no advantage. The 4090 is without argument, substantially better than the XTX. But is the 4090 worth twice the price of an XTX? No way, it's great but not THAT great. Anyway, I got an XTX direct from Amazon, on a very limited flash sale, for 780.00, so no contest! Edit: ASUS Tuf version.
I've been eyeing this ASUS TUF 7900 XTX card, but looking for something to use for VR. I keep hearing to go Nvidia, but the bang for buck is clearly with AMD, so trying to gauge which way to go.
What's weird is the 5080 is getting 16gb of ram. So xtx owners won't have much of an upgrade path this gen apart from the 5090. Could see a lot of xtx owners sitting on them for a generation.
Microcenter just sent me an email yesterday afternoon offering to buy back my 18-month old 7900xtx for $800 (store credit). No way I'm taking them up on it, but the timing seemed funny. As a Linux gamer, nVidia just isn't a viable option because of the driver situation (especially since Linux HDR gaming just flat out doesn't work on nVidia hardware), and AMD isn't making an equivalent or better card in the 8000 series. Overall, have nothing but good things to say about navi31, with the exception of the HDMI 2.1 open source driver fiasco.
Lol, 800 bucks for AMD aging card while new 5080 will smoke brakes off of it Go take up that offer and upgrade to something of between 4080 and 4090 quality card (5080) with 300-400 dollar upgrade Speculations say 5080 will beat 4090, though I personally doubt it. I tried 7900xtx. And I owne 4090. 7900xtx is 2 tiers below. Not 1 tier. 7900xtx is as close as you can get with 4080. But 4080 drivers are super stable. 7900xtx crashed all the time for me. 2 cards in the row 800 bucks for a uses 7900xtx is like free money on the brink of RTX Though you will need to lay off games and hit the gym or something 😂
@@Skynet_11 Yes, I do VRR that way (my display is also 120Hz) it with a cheap DP1.4->HDMI 2.1 adapter. The reason this is necessary is quite silly - the HDMI forum denied AMD permission to open source their HDMI 2.1 driver code, so they are forced down to 2.0. To get around that issue, you can plug the HDMI cable into a displayport adapter, and then plug the adapter into one of the AMD card's displayport outputs.
I've had my Sapphire Pulse 7900 XTX for about 9 months now ($929 on Black Friday), and outside of Helldivers 2 having some issues at launch, the card has been incredibly solid. Every game I play can be maxed out at ultra settings at 3440x1440 and runs great.
Just bought a 7900XTX to replace my 6700xt. I run 3440x1440p , so I’m hoping this will last 3 years. I used the Newegg trade in program so the card was only 604.99. Which was a great deal.
Well as a casual gamer I got a rx7900xt when it first dropped and it is still running great to this day, I've never had an issues with it and I run all my games at 4k with no issues at all. I'd never spend the money for an nvidia card.
Oh boy, you are screwed brother. The Nvidia bros are going to be leaving my comments section and heading for yours. Someone in my community told me to check out your channel. It sounds like we are both having the same annoying Nvidia problems. If they would just stop cutting corners it would be fine. I am currently using both a 7900XT and a 4080 Super
I miss my 7900xtx, I bought it on launch day and I loved it when I received it but it had the same issue as your 7900xtx so I returned it for a Rtx 4080, I miss my 7900xtx and the colours were so much better on AMD.
@@AssassinIsAfk Nvidia compresses colours and values in a trade off for more FPS. Personally I prefer better colours and and a flatter contrast that can always be adjust via settings if desired (as a photographer and videographer I know that you always shoot flatter and adjust later for maximum control over the final output). Once you compress the colours and their values - no amount of tweaking can bring them back. But to those who never try AMD, they would never know this difference.
did this 4 months ago 4090 for a 7900xtx nitro + due to the 4090 losing it's 2nd hand value, and luckily I have no need for the 4090 for specific tasks where it's needed. Totally fine for gaming and for the programs I'm using on my PC atm (still getting a 5090 though)
My only problem was that I got really into VR flight simming a week after getting mine, and the 4090 does seem to have a decent increase in both frame rate and visual quality in that case. For most games the difference in price wasn't justifiable unless I planned on not upgrading for the next 5-6 years. If the 5090 lives up close to the hype and isn't insanely priced compared to the already crazy prices I'll probably be upgrading a lot sooner though. Oh, I should probably mention one big con and that's that I haven't been able to open up the AMD software to update since that Bethesda space game came out. I've reinstalled multiple times and have tried every esoteric 10 step solution I could find to no avail. I'd reformat but I don't want to risk corrupting projects I've been working on.
I have no complaints on purchasing the 7900xtx on day one of the release. I dont use ray tracing, at the time the 4090 was double the price and I did not have to worry about a melting connector. As for the next generation, who knows.
Of course you made a mistake. The RTX 4090 is better in every way, you only get the 7900XTX if you don't want to spend at much on a GPU. I never had the problems you described.
If you use blender or any ray tracing creative software, the 4090 is literally twice as fast as a 7900xtx. I bought an xtx thinking it would work for me, but as as soon as I could afford it, I sent it back and bought a 4090
@@grtitann7425 There’s some truth to that. But AMD clearly missed the boat on Raytracing, because their cards suck for any path traced software, not just blender
guys, I currently have thew rtx 2080, in terms of value, should I go for 7900xtx for competitive 1440p and ultrawide 1600p ???? or will I be better off waiting for what next gen will bring ?
Same its an absolute beast of card. I think we'll see it sell out in a year and hover around the lowest retail price for a while on the used market. I'm excited to see what AMD does with RDNA 4. If its around this level of performance with better ray tracing for less money I think people will actually flock to it, especially since they're already making strides with FSR.
I can't say if you swapped back or not , however I have a short list of reasons you would, 1 AMD Adrenalin is buggy AF, 2 RTx Broadcast noise removal. How ever if you don't need noise removal. Then one can live with the AMD Cards I know because I have cards from NVIDIA, (3090 TI) AMD (RX 7900XT) and Intel (Arc a770 16gb OC ). and I've had a RTX 3090 T.I founder s edition card since 2022 and I've never experienced any of the issues you are talking about with Nvidia.
When I replaced my PC and went from an RX 580 to a 4070 I immediately noticed slightly muddled textures further off in World of Warcraft and Alien heads went from a shiney menacing jet black look in Aliens: Dark Descent to a softer more cuddly dulled out grey black look. Those were the only 2 games I was playing a the time to say for sure were worse. Still usually looks great and all but I would love to see some image comparison videos on AMD vs Nvidia and see if Nvidia is cheating to get more fps.
I made the switch from a 1080Ti to a 7900XTX and I love the Adrenalin software and the card is a beast. If the 4080 would have been $999 instead of $1,200, I probably would have stuck with Ngreedia to be honest but I in no way regret going to an AMD GPU
After reading a lot of the comments about the 4090 vs the 7900XTX iv noticed that a lot of AMD owners are happy with and or aiming for 60 FPS at any resolution. I think this is the disconnect here, people who are dropping the money on a 4090 mostly want over 100 fps and most likely find 60 fps to be completely unacceptable to even "laggy"... so just consider that their is a huge difference in standards and performance expectations for people who are happy to drop the money for a 4090 vs the people trying to get the best bang for their buck with anything AMD.
Been on the 4090 since launch. Never had an issue. It will be, by then, 2 years of great frame rates, very usable ray tracing + DLSS on applicable games. When the 50 series launches, I will most likely relegate the 4090 to the living room PC to replace the 3080Ti.
Should've waited for rdna4 lol I was tempted to get a good deal on a 7900xtx, but I held the line Hopefully, 8800xt will be worth the wait. If not, I'll be kicking myself on not getting that 7900xtx xD
Started on AMD integrated graphics, hardly touched adrenaline software or updated drivers and my 2400g worked perfecly fine. Upgraded to a Sapphire nitro + RX 580 special edition v2, loved that card. Since then, three Nvidia cards. Just got my Nitro + 79xtx in november. Best purchase I've ever had. Spot on with this video good work
I went in the opposite direction. I bought my reference model 7900XTX the week of release (luckily for MSRP) and have been gaming on it ever since. It was paired with a 7800X3D and I play on a 4k 144hz monitor. The last year has been pretty rough for me when it came to driver stability. I was having issues with temperatures, I was having performance issues, and I was having crashing problems, and all of those were cars by different bad drivers at different times. The last update that made me decide to get rid of the card, would cause my GPU to be running at almost 100% while sitting on the desktop and so my idle temperatures were in the 60s and my gaming hotspot temp went to 95C. Rolling back the drivers didn’t work, I had to use DDU and completely wipe and reinstall from scratch just to get the temp issue to go away. So far, I’m loving my 4090, all my games play at either High or ultras settings and max out my monitor and that’s all that I can ask for.
I just bought a PC with an xtx, the melting connector issue kept me from going with a 4090. Seems to run my games just fine even with Ray Tracing on. I mostly play racing sims and a few RPGs like hogwarts legacy or Jedi Survivor series for examples. I do not regret it..I do play in 4k on my G8 monitor. For half the price it is worth it.
Of course not. The 4090 is the top dog right now and if someone has to have the best then this is the only choice. Pay up. Perfectly happy with my 7900xt I got for under 700USD open box vs 1600+ for a 4090 though. To each their own.
@@TheJamesKFif we look at the market and compare both gpus the 7900 xtx is a high end graphics card while the 4090 is top end which means highest end ever imagine able like there is no higher than it but it is in higher tier than high end gpu like the 7900 xtx.
So much for "white horse" riding UA-camr individuals. Card is broken, and I am getting blackscreens, let me sell it to another person to have these burdens Sh is fd up
It's always been interesting to me that people are locked out of DSR with DSC enabled on Nvidia. I've never had this issue and game exclusively in DSC. I know there are some exceptions but it seems like most DSC displays don't allow this.
I love my red devil 7900xtx! It's custom water-cooled have had ZERO issues and YES it does ray tracing just fine! Be Don't listen to influencers when they say "if you want ray tracing, you must buy nvidia" it's not true. Nvidia is faster at ray tracing but AMD does ray tracing just fine
Glad i went with the 7900xtx. Was worried about AMD gpu support in various programs, but it actually works on all my games and even works with AI (I used Nod AI shark). My only real complaint is how hot it gets in my room but my lord the temps are great tho!
Ray tracing implementation has not gotten to a point where ray tracing really matters. I have a 7900 XTX as half the games that I play don't even have ray tracing. The ones that do, I wouldn't turn it on at all as I want decent framerates. I may care about the feature is another decade when NVidia's CEO has bought his 500th f'ing leather jacket and is finally correct that ray tracing is properly supported by the current hardware. Right now, the hardware if fine for running it as a cutscene, nothing more.
Ray tracing is like electric cars (and the jab). An idea dreamt up by corporations that the daily user doesn't want or need without any real world benefits and shit loads of compromises and costs Sit on your hands and do nothing and pretend it doesn't exist is the best way forward and probably always will be
I own the XTX Nitro+ and I absolutely would switch it for a 4090. Of course I would want a card that is nearly double the price in exchange for mine. I'm extremely happy with the power of this card for the price I paid though.
I know the 4090 and 5090 when it gets released will be the fastest gpu in the market, I CAN afford it, but I won't buy either of them, it's just not a wise financial decision, and thinking about all the cooling needed for a pc like that is not appealing to me, Im happy playing at 1440p with a 70 series gpu and ryzen 5 or 7.
@@Shahzad12357I like this guy a lot. That said.. obv he does a lot for the clicks. You know what? All youtubers do it for the clicks. He used the xtx to be unbiased. I dig his content.. you just gotta know what to expect.
Of course he did it for clicks, this is how he makes part or all of his living. I'm guessing he was also was personally interested in how AMD performed vrs Nvidia, but at the end of the day everyone's UA-cam videos are created for views and clicks for monetary gain. A year ago, when he first sold his Nvidia Card for AMD, I immediately clicked because I was thinking "what an idiot"..lol But, I'm glad he did it because I was interested in seeing just how bad of an experience he was going to have. So at the end of the day he provided value for me and made money off of me. Perfect example of capitalism.
Reviewers always mention Ray-tracing, and it is a fair point. ...but I wonder what percentage of gamers actually uses RT 100% of the time? Most people I chat with do not use it at all, some will put it on every now and then...see the drop in frames and then turn it off again.
one thing that people don't talk about i would love for you to turn on Virtual Super Resolution and put your games to 8k and tell me how it looks as long as its certain games when using the Virtaul super Resolution it will not in pack performance at all but some tiles it will i think if AMD works on there Virtual Super Resolution there will be no need for upscaling since AMD is superior at downscaling that people don't talk about why have upscaling when you can downscale 8k to 4k looks 100 times better. so if you want to upscale to 1440p or 4k set desk top to 1080p and play your games in 1440p or set desk top to 1440p and play your games at 4k and you will see the dif in quality. i have no clue why no one talks about AMD's downscaling its all about upscalling
This is the thing about luxury products. A lamborgini is fast has cool features, and used for bragging rights. A Nissan r35 is fast maybe not as fast, doesn't have all the cool features, works similarly but costs less money. Same thing if I replace the car names with the gpu brands.
I mean...I would like to think anyone who has a 4090 already has the PC parts and accessories to take full advantage of it and can therefore afford the extra money. I don't see why anyone would objectively downgrade to a 7900XTX, as someone who upgraded from an EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra to a PowerColor Red Devil 7900XTX. Sure, the 7900XTX has been awesome and driver stability is great but I will say that while I was having driver issues with my 3070 towards the end, I also had issues with my AMD drivers. TLDR: anyone who has a 4090 has it because they can afford it and can use the extra power so there is literally zero reason to replace it with the 7900XTX lol. This is a pretty dumb comparison as much as I love AMD and am an owner myself

I have a 4090 with a Samsung 49 inch display (its a 40-somthing inch I don't remember). I have less black screen and better refresh rates and just overall less issues with the 7900 xtx than I did the 4090. I have to admit tho, I play cyberpunk weekly and the 4090 runs it better and at higher settings. I'll keep my 4090 in it's box next to my desk just in case, but overall I don't think I'll be using it again.
i can't recommend amd gpus tbh. i've had 2 and it's just a bad experience, so many issues that i don't have with nvidia. basically it's only great for games, specifically with directx games, weird visual glitches even when whatching yt videos. and i get a lot of Blue screens, and i think my last one broke and i can't even do anything heavy on the gpu without getting a blue screen guaranteed. idk if they work for you i see it as a miracle lol, and i'm glad it works for some people if they do. my latest one was a rx 6900XT btw i do recommend the cpus however. i use the ryzen 9 5900x and it's amazing the performance is so nice. i need to test it with an nvidia card when i get one.
for the price of a 4090, i could get a whole ass pc with a r7 7800x3d + 7800xt build with 32gb ddr5 ram..... i still dont care about anything above 1440p
I do regret going with a 4090, I only got it because of frame gen (which AMD didn't have yet back then) and better ray tracing (which I wanted to use in warhammer darktide), but now 1,5 years later I kinda feel like selling it for like 1700 and just getting something like a 7700XT, 7800XT or 7900GRE. A quarter to a third of the price, less power draw, much smaller so I can get a small case and I honestly don't care too much about Raytracing many games I play like Rimworld, TW Warhammer, Supreme commander don't use raytracing anyway. Alas such is hindsight..
Following _ImWateringPSUs_ instructions on UA-cam, I've undervolted my 4090. It's now even more responsive and saves approximately 20-30% power depending on whether I use the economy or the performance profile I set up. (I also added +1300MHz to +1200MHz to the vram respectively because it now runs cooler.) So there are solutions. PS: I bought the PNY 4090 XLR8 which fits in a regular case.
@@jemborg I would probably look into undervolting but I've already made up my mind about selling it. If I sell if for like 1500-1600 (a new one costs 1900-2200 in the Netherlands), it would cover the purchase of a nice SFF case, mobo, PSU and cooler plus the GPU and still have about 500 left. I'd just transfer over the SSDs, CPU and RAM from my current build and then also sell that case/mobo/PSU off for someone to use as a foundation for their own build. Good point for other people though who still want to keep their 4090.
When opting for a GPU for a long time without changing, the Sapphire NITRO+ RX 7900XTX Vapor-X, this specific model fit into my budget, I paid its 950$, I left my Gpu for my second PC for more work cases, where the other GPU that is from Nvidia will give me support, obviously Nvidia has its friends and AMD the same thing, but in work Nvidia is still more viable for the moment, but AMD in card for long term games for $, an option infinitely better! Great video.
@@ProjectLabz Yeah as long as I don't touch overclocking it's been solid, my wife also has a 7900XTX and been really good too, quite an improvement over RX5700XT, that thing was a mess so was Vega 64 and Radeon VII driver wise 😅😅
I watch a bunch of channles and the 4090 is starting to have issues, one repair channel I watch predicted 50% of them will be trash before 5 years is up do to build quality.
I built two gaming PCs and used 7900XTX in both of them just because DLSS performs horribly at 4K120, if I'm going to be playing at native res anyway then there's no reason to buy Nvidia.
this comment is going to be enormous, don't read it, I wouldn't either ngl, just wanted to write whatever came to my mind, and I ain't hating or anything, AMD is improving their GPU performance in every regard at a very fast pace, excited to see what their RDNA4 is capable of and how they will perform in terms of ray tracing, maybe the gen after the next AMD might even be able to compete or hopefully beat nvidia in ray tracing, cuz Nvidia really needs some good competition or else they gonna keep up with their horrendous pricing, 7900 XTX has amazing performance per dollar, I aint gonna hate on AMD, they are doing amazing work, I wish 40 series GPUs were as cheap as the AMD counterparts, best GPU under 1000$, its as good and sometimes better than a 4080, but its not comparable to 4090 in most cases, but this is supposed to be 7900XTX VS. 4090 video but he talked about how 4090 isn't compatible with some monitors, HDR problems and these monitor related issues, its supposed to be more GPU vs GPU, its a big issue, yeah, but this turned into more of a monitor video, the original list also mostly states the display problems, there are issues you should consider, but you can just get a monitor that is very compatible with 4090 and this solves 90% of his 4090 complaints, I love his content, but this video ain't it, lemme give my pros and cons regarding 4090 4090 Cons: you can buy a car with that price in Raster performance, in a few games (mostly titles that prefer AMD), it's only barely better than 7900XTX while being significantly more expensive performance per dollar is not worth it Monitor compatibility is a problem many times like stated in the video cant think of anything else tbh, I'm sure there are more, but nothing that major Pros: its the fastest overall GPU right now DLSS is significantly better than FSR on every level, from upscaling to frame gen ( I don't have a 40 series GPU, I love the fact that AMD lets everyone use FSR frame gen, I hate Nvidia in this matter) video editing, photo editing, 3D work, game dev, and other productivity software, most content creation work, 4090 is better especially Blender, when you are spending over 500$ on GPUs, don't lie to yourself, you wanna use ray tracing, and you want it to run well, any AMD users who are saying they don't like raytracing or raytracing isn't even that good, either they actually don't want it cuz raytracing will decrease FPS no matter which GPU you own, or you are just tryna cope with the fact that the best AMD GPU cant even compete with 4070 in terms of Raytracing, ray tracing makes any game look better, and no one can change my mind about that if you read this, you definitely don't have ADHD
4090/5090 are production cards and overkill for most. 7900 XTX and 4080 are the cards that most need feedback. But that said INTEL build with Battlemage would be my choice. The performance would be on bar with 7900 XTX and 4080 and future proof with APO that will challenge 5080 in the future. I think you should test and make a video of A770 with REBAR and the point that there is no waiting and FPS count you could almost double because ARC architecture pairs with CPU. AMD/Nvidia doesn't and uses one silicone. Test programs and FPS counters do not take this in count. I use A770 for 4k with good results and value for money. 4070ti would give more FPS but bad stutter for bad experience. It is almost spot on that 60 FPS from ARC is 120FPS from 4070ti but no waiting on tasks with ARC and every frame from ARC matters. It is two silicone's via REBAR vs one standalone silicone. So my view is that the 60FPS doesn't take in count the CPU pairing and the performance in reality is double if not more. My experience is with A770 is that if you can get 40FPS the game is very playable. Same you can't say from 4070ti even 120FPS where one silicone can't queue tasks without stutter. Lot more FPS is needed for the same performance. Also has to be said XeSS XMX specific for ARC is very close to DLSS and better than FSR. Also I would like to point out AMD doesn't run all of the games just like Nvidia. Both have their developments and game designers to suit. ARC doesn't work on all games either but the numbers are not that far from AMD/Nvidia.
At this time I would not debate the fact that the RTX 4090 is the best GPU out there. It is like cars. You really do not need a BMW to drive to a Walmart 3 miles away. When any brand will get you there and safely. Same with video cards. Folks with 1080p 60 hz monitors do not need a RTX 4090. Really for anything that a lesser card could do and even get the same results at a way cheaper price. There are always going to be bottlenecks in this case it is the monitor.
Nvidia HAS to fix DSR/DLDSR not working because of DSC. AMD doesn't suffer from this with Super Resolution/VSR. It's INSANE that a massive company that dwarfs AMD can't fix this issue.
My 7900xtx nitro runs hot like Hell and pick 400w I sold it and bougt a trio 4080 mit undervolting runs cool and pick 250w with same performance Amd is garbage
RDNA4 won't have a RTX5090 competter but Cuts gap on ray-tracing and AMD are supposed to be going low on prices. I suspect RDNA4 is stop gap with RDNA5 high end coming sooner than most expect them. With ground up redesign They may finally get chiplet working in gpu like cpu. I'm hoping Intel makes huge strides on hardware & drivers then commits to at least 10 more gens as 3 competitors is better than 2 price & performance wise.
Q: Why did I do it?
A: I have another 4090
@@CodeCube-rv1rm lol
For the price difference between a 4090 vs. a 7900 XTX you can get most of the way to a really good HDR monitor and not give a care about RT.
For real, the difference between these cards is around $900, for this money you can get WOLED gaming monitor
You also loose DLSS, you cant ignore DLSS is still tangibly better than FSR. That said I refuse to support the RTX 4090 price point.
I own the XFX Speedster Merc 7900XTX Black Edition, it's a beast and quality is outstanding. I went from a Gigabyte 3080 to a XFX 7900XTX.
Lol. We literally went the same upgrade path. I had the white giabyte 3080 and got the XFX 7900XTX.

AMD will, for now still, give "age like fine wine" experience. Bought my Nitro 7900XTX February 2023. Only updated drivers 3 times with known working versions. And every incremental update has brought out more and more performance. For the price, it just cannot be beat.
I think the 7900xtx will be like the 1080ti. Loads of people will sit on thent for ages. Especially as the 5080 is getting 16gb of vram

Lol, 800 bucks for AMD aging card while new 5080 will smoke brakes off of it
Go take up that offer and upgrade to something of between 4080 and 4090 quality card (5080) with 300-400 dollar upgrade
Speculations say 5080 will beat 4090, though I personally doubt it.
I tried 7900xtx. And I owne 4090. 7900xtx is 2 tiers below. Not 1 tier.
7900xtx is as close as you can get with 4080. But 4080 drivers are super stable.

The last year has been pretty rough for me when it came to driver stability. I was having issues with temperatures, I was having performance issues, and I was having crashing problems, and all of those were cars by different bad drivers at different times. Wish they still had crossfire. Can you imagine 2 XTX for about $150 more.
I'll keep my 4090 in it's box next to my desk just in case, but overall I don't think I'll be using it again.
i can't recommend amd gpus tbh. i've had 2 and it's just a bad experience, so many issues that i don't have with nvidia. basically it's only great for games, specifically with directx games, weird visual glitches even when whatching yt videos. and i get a lot of Blue screens, and i think my last one broke and i can't even do anything heavy on the gpu without getting a blue screen guaranteed. idk if they work for you i see it as a miracle lol, and i'm glad it works for some people if they do.
my latest one was a rx 6900XT btw
i do recommend the cpus however. i use the ryzen 9 5900x and it's amazing the performance is so nice. i need to test it with an nvidia card when i get one.
for the price of a 4090, i could get a whole ass pc with a r7 7800x3d + 7800xt build with 32gb ddr5 ram..... i still dont care about anything above 1440p
i really love my AMd gpu i ain't going back nvidia
AND SOME PEOPLE OUT HERE CANT EVEN AFFORD TO BUY ANY OF THEM, WHILE UA-camRS COMPLAINING
I go with AMD because I can dual boot on Windows and Linux with no issues since drivers are great for both OSs
I think tis is no brainer.XTX in Croatia is 1100e and 4090 is 2200e cheapest so yeah,I wonder what to buy
(I also added +1300MHz to +1200MHz to the vram respectively because it now runs cooler.)
So there are solutions.
@@Xeonzs fair enough.
I'm stuck with nvidia, cuda is too powerful
When opting for a GPU for a long time without changing, the Sapphire NITRO+ RX 7900XTX Vapor-X, this specific model fit into my budget, I paid its 950$, I left my Gpu for my second PC for more work cases, where the other GPU that is from Nvidia will give me support, obviously Nvidia has its friends and AMD the same thing, but in work Nvidia is still more viable for the moment, but AMD in card for long term games for $, an option infinitely better! Great video.
I still wouldn’t trust a rtx4090 cable connection failing or totally destroying my system if the connection melted…..that’s why AMD is better
I guess you left it and went back to the 4090
I have a 7900XTX Nitro paired with 7800X3D , awesome combo for 1440p 240Hz :D
Any crashes?
@@ProjectLabz like in games?
@@adi6293 Yeah
@@ProjectLabz Yeah as long as I don't touch overclocking it's been solid, my wife also has a 7900XTX and been really good too, quite an improvement over RX5700XT, that thing was a mess so was Vega 64 and Radeon VII driver wise 😅😅
@@adi6293 Done thanks bud, no coil whine?
I’m going to pick up a 7900xtx nitro and 7950x3d this afternoon 😍
i bought also an 7900xtx because i didnt want to burn down my house with an nvidia power connector
In a country like "Germoney", where the electircity price is craszy high, the choice is clear ! :D
I just (last week) sold my 7900 XTX for a 4080S :)
FSR3 is out now.
I watch a bunch of channles and the 4090 is starting to have issues, one repair channel I watch predicted 50% of them will be trash before 5 years is up do to build quality.
Lol. Less than 0.1% of them are having issues.
So I'd switch to a 7900xt xtx is to over budget plus the vram
I built two gaming PCs and used 7900XTX in both of them just because DLSS performs horribly at 4K120, if I'm going to be playing at native res anyway then there's no reason to buy Nvidia.
this comment is going to be enormous, don't read it, I wouldn't either ngl, just wanted to write whatever came to my mind, and I ain't hating or anything,
AMD is improving their GPU performance in every regard at a very fast pace, excited to see what their RDNA4 is capable of and how they will perform in terms of ray tracing, maybe the gen after the next AMD might even be able to compete or hopefully beat nvidia in ray tracing, cuz Nvidia really needs some good competition or else they gonna keep up with their horrendous pricing,
7900 XTX has amazing performance per dollar, I aint gonna hate on AMD, they are doing amazing work, I wish 40 series GPUs were as cheap as the AMD counterparts, best GPU under 1000$, its as good and sometimes better than a 4080, but its not comparable to 4090 in most cases, but this is supposed to be 7900XTX VS. 4090 video but he talked about how 4090 isn't compatible with some monitors, HDR problems and these monitor related issues, its supposed to be more GPU vs GPU, its a big issue, yeah, but this turned into more of a monitor video, the original list also mostly states the display problems, there are issues you should consider, but you can just get a monitor that is very compatible with 4090 and this solves 90% of his 4090 complaints, I love his content, but this video ain't it, lemme give my pros and cons regarding 4090
4090
Cons:
you can buy a car with that price
in Raster performance, in a few games (mostly titles that prefer AMD), it's only barely better than 7900XTX while being significantly more expensive
performance per dollar is not worth it
Monitor compatibility is a problem many times like stated in the video
cant think of anything else tbh, I'm sure there are more, but nothing that major
Pros:
its the fastest overall GPU right now
DLSS is significantly better than FSR on every level, from upscaling to frame gen ( I don't have a 40 series GPU, I love the fact that AMD lets everyone use FSR frame gen, I hate Nvidia in this matter)
video editing, photo editing, 3D work, game dev, and other productivity software, most content creation work, 4090 is better especially Blender,
when you are spending over 500$ on GPUs, don't lie to yourself, you wanna use ray tracing, and you want it to run well, any AMD users who are saying they don't like raytracing or raytracing isn't even that good, either they actually don't want it cuz raytracing will decrease FPS no matter which GPU you own, or you are just tryna cope with the fact that the best AMD GPU cant even compete with 4070 in terms of Raytracing, ray tracing makes any game look better, and no one can change my mind about that
if you read this, you definitely don't have ADHD
I never crashed as much with 7900xtx than any card in my 25 years of owning AMD and Nvidia cards
It was like all bad cards combined in 1
Ray tracing and Dlss are not for competitive fps. So Don't care. I got a 7900xtx used on Amazon for 840 over a year ago
I strongly dislike FSR. It makes shadows in game look stippled. Maybe I’m dumb and there’s a setting to fix this, but that is my opinion of FSR.
You didnt switch back because of price point
Nvidia HAS to fix DSR/DLDSR not working because of DSC. AMD doesn't suffer from this with Super Resolution/VSR. It's INSANE that a massive company that dwarfs AMD can't fix this issue.
If notoriously melting power cables won't dip nvidia high end sales, nothing will.
My 7900xtx nitro runs hot like Hell and pick 400w
I sold it and bougt a trio 4080 mit undervolting runs cool and pick 250w with same performance
Amd is garbage
as an Nvidia power user, AMD is more than fine
RDNA4 won't have a RTX5090 competter but Cuts gap on ray-tracing and AMD are supposed to be going low on prices. I suspect RDNA4 is stop gap with RDNA5 high end coming sooner than most expect them. With ground up redesign They may finally get chiplet working in gpu like cpu. I'm hoping Intel makes huge strides on hardware & drivers then commits to at least 10 more gens as 3 competitors is better than 2 price & performance wise.
RTX 4090 is overpriced shit.
it is but its a beast
I love the 4090
