So many of these cars dominated the roads of the late 90s and early 00's, seeing them new again really takes me back
Yes it does man 😩
Yes, so many cars & styled pretty good. 90s auto shows were an international cuisine buffet
Had an '01 Cavalier Z24 with the 2.4 Liter until 2014 😎 Miss that car
Japanese cars dominated then as they still do now.. with almost half the cars on the road being Japanese branded alone
The Beetle concept was like 90% accurate to the production version, at least from the outside. I miss the 90’s because there were some interesting designs
I hate that the new Beetle was junk i always wanted one
These look like plastic crap except the the dodge viper and Pontiac 💀😂
Cars started to become cool again with higher HP and cooler designs after the industry went to sleep in the 70’s and 80’s.
A simpler time back when waste lines were smaller and SUV’s didn’t litter the road….
I was 21 then and have fond memories of this time period. 1994 was a time when just about every auto maker was producing hits. We had peak Honda and Toyota, GM was on a roll, the new Chrysler products had nice designs (even if they were junk) and Ford had just launched the SN95 Mustang. It was a good time to be a young car enthusiast.
You wouldn't say the GM products (mostly) were junk too?
What does sn95 mean? I’m sure the 95 is the year of the mustang your talking about
@@trentpettit6336 the Camaro and Trans Am that GM produced in the 90’s were awesome. GM did make some good stuff in the 90’s.
@@toddprater14 SN95 is early model of 4th gen Mustang with Predecessor Fox chassis, I guess it just the code name for that, I was onwer one, and it is fantastic
@@trentpettit6336I would say GM trucks were decent but their cars were definitely not up to Japanese standards.
This brings back some great memories. The Motorweek Retro Reviews are the best! 🏁

So great content. My mom has a 1995 MonteCarlo with 60,600 miles. Lovely. ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks for bring 90s autoshow motorweek
Dodge Stratus with a 2.5 V6 Mitsubishi engine and the tiptronic transmission was an excellent vehicle for its time and a price 10 out of 10 ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I understand Will Ferrell was very proud of the Dodge Stratus he drove, and he made sure those around him knew it.
Quite popular American car in Europe, at that time. I always liked the look of it.
I'd still buy a Honda from this era.
The Dodge Venom should have been produced! It would have been a nice alternative to a Dodge Viper!
Could have been a Camaro/mustang competitor!
Isn't a Dodge Stealth really?
@@jespernorthbike You mean Mitsubishi 3000 GT? lol
@@jespernorthbike The Dodge Stealth was a 300ZX challenger, not a pony car. SRT could have made the Venom great.
Johnny Mason, you can definitely see the 1998 Intrepid in terms of the bumper grille.
Too bad he didn't talk about the Jurassic Park Explorer in the background of the Windstar
They skipped over sooooooo much good stuff. I understand the 6 minute segment format, but dang!
That Lincoln Contempra concept is gorgeous! Very modern for 1994.
It became the 1996-2002 Lincoln Continental. I used to have one and loved it. Adjustable steering assist, selectable air suspension firmness modes, heated and powered front seats, and a V8!
@@jeremiahharris6051 1995 Continental, because those were out in December '94, about 11 months after this aired.
The Contempra didn't become the Continental, it was a stylized teaser *designed last minute in 1993*, before this auto show. Already had designed the production 1995 Continental before it, as early as 1991.
Teasers are directly based on the production vehicle and then modified to obscure final elements.
@@jmin8400 Okay. Thanks.
I miss the 90's. Thank god i lived through it, only wish I could go back.
In Nov 2021 I saw a mint 90s super charged Riviera in a grocery store parking lot & just had to stare at it for a while. I'm so glad someone preserved it, compared to my mom's Luminas that have undoubtedly been scrapped more than a decade earlier.
The next retro review the 1998 North American auto show please :)
Nice! I went to the Detroit International Auto Show a few years later in 1997. Hard to believe that was almost three decades ago. I still see some of the trucks and occasionally a first gen Windstar, but rarely any of those cars, maybe a Neon once in a while. I rarely saw Vipers on the road back then, let alone now, but they're still in high demand. And the retro styled VW Beetle, though it's hard to tell what years they're from, could be newer.
Wow what memories! We had a 95 Ford Windstar! A Red Carpet lease!
Look at all these wonderful cars that are no longer in existence. At 7 years old I went to my very first auto show in 1987 and have been going ever since through present day. Throughout the late 80s through the mid-2000s I've collected several car brochures on every single vehicle, and I still have them all to this day. Unfortunately through the recent years Auto shows don't seem to carry those anymore and want you to see everything online. But throughout all these years it's interesting to see how much the Auto industry has changed since my very first auto show in 1987.
That was a pretty good year for GM new models.
Oh yeah, the Dodge Venom. Would've been a nice car if it was produced. I've seen the video of that car in action, and the V6 engine sounds amazing. Must have some kind of free flowing exhaust system with that concept car.
Yeah. Venom was a Missed opportunity.
To be fair, so was the Cooperhead. That would've been awesome.
Copperhead*
Isn't a Dodge Stealth really?
Could've been exported to RHD countries to compete with the J29 Supra and looks better too.
Those 90s Rams are some of the most handsome trucks ever made, so much cleaner and sharper than today's stuff. It's just a shame they painted them using Crayola markers and made the interior out of plastic that Lada rejected for being "too cheap". Still, with 205k now on the original engine and trans, I still love my 97 4x4.
Its amazing to see how far the Detroit Auto Show has fallen, even from 2014 where all the engineers from other companies were sticking mirrors under their rivals cars. I hope it returns to this kind of glory.
Thank you Mohor Wheek for all you do 👍👏
Man I remember when the Dodge Viper gts was introduced to the market!👌🥰👍 miss them day’s!
The SRT is what that killed the Viper?
A rust free Chevy 454SS pickup, now that would be a gem of a find these days☺
God damn that viper is timeless
Right? That GTS body is iconic 90’s yet it still looks great today. It’s too bad the interior wasn’t quite as timeless. 😂
@@Ward413 hah right
You gotdamn right. When I first seen Dodge Viper, my face was like this 👉🏽🤤
Porsche and Subaru were both near the end of their rope at that time:
Hard to believe, knowing how profitable they've been since.
Aging 911, Aging 928, pre-Boxster, pre-996, pre-Cayenne for Porsche.
Subaru had sales dud SVX, pre-Outback, pre-Forester, pre-WRX (USA at least), and not yet World Rally Champions.
So depressing seeing the sunfire roadster concept and even the crazier concept version before that, and what we got was a ok coupe with modest horsepower the first few years then the car devolved over the next two generations and gained no power gains or trims.
That's them good old GM beancounters at work for ya!
I think the cool thing about them was the rear red light SUNFIRE name.
Still have an '01 Tundra with the 4.7 Liter v8☺ Doesn't burn a drop of oil, 0-60 in 9.3 seconds (quicker than the '97 Lumina 3.1 Liter I once owned), original CD/cassette stereo (CD player still works). A time machine back to those cool 90's/early 2000's good times. If only I could find some gas for a buck and a quarter a gallon, the time warp would be complete 😎
What a great period of time for car fans.
Just think most of these cars are in a scrapyard somewhere or been recycled
Yeah looking at that Chrysler Cirrus I was like "wow it's been ages since I've seen that waterfall snout grille".... those things ended up at the scrapyards pretty quickly
Yeah, pretty much 8-10 year lifespan.
Yah. Junkyard buggys
2:43........."I DRIVE...........I DRIVE...........I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!!!!!!!"
I just wish you weren't a liar!
🚂 Cool & Hi from Detroit, Michigan 👀
And fast forward to socalled 2021 ,almost all these cars are gone ,Sad
Am I the only one that lost his mind when they seen the jurassic park explorer in the background?
Woof, that Viper GTS is still amazing! Funny about the Beetle. I remember when people were literally stalking out VW dealerships and paying way over sticker for those things. The same happened with the PT Cruiser. Looking at what is happening with the TRX, GT500, Raptor, Bronco and others, history will likely repeat itself...
Oh god I love auto shows! I can’t wait to go to my next one once they allow them again.
It was a time when every manufacturer was trying to do something different, today everything looks the same and its mostly SUV. It was depressing to see the nice new Saab products thinking in a few years GM would kill them and the brand would be history. I had a base 9-3 coupe with a 5 speed manual, loved that car and the design even looks good today.
I remember going to the 94 auto show and in the Pontiac section they had a 95 transam up on a platform in the air off a wall..it had the 5 spoke wheels new for that year and remember thinking ,god that looks so much better than the 3 spoke 93/94 wheels….had a couple of them ta’s. Gosh does time fly. Such a easier more fun time back then….and way cheaper too
Corr forgotten how rounded cars got in the 90's.
They were like jelly beans!
Out of all the cars shown, I'll take the Viper & the Bugatti flashed at the end.
Shocked to hear Opel being mentioned.
That doesn’t make sense...they've existed for decades, obviously before you were born and were owned by GM for more than half a century.
That car became the hated Cadillac Catera.
@@ml9867 It wasn't a great car, but it was an okay start to get away from FWD mediocrity. CTS fixed those issues and eventual STS.
Cadillac pioneered upmarket FWD in the 60s, failed when they went transverse.
Oh wow I never knew firehawks came with those type of headlights🤯🤯🤯 I thought they remained pop ups till the end.
I like the Chevrolet Lumina. Wish they were made still. Don't like the newer cars since they use floor shifters and are crampt.
I drive a Dodge Stratus!!!
Have you ever had to jump start or change the battery?
I gagged a little remembering some of those US designs.
Miss going to the shows
I hope our smaller local new car show comes back in February. I'm glad I didn't miss the last one in 2020.
@@ml9867 hello and good Friday morning I'm Peter now 49 years old from downtown Hamilton Ontario Canada hope all is well? I was born and raised in Toronto and used to go to every year car show especially with my dad Nick and younger brother Chris but unfortunately I'm now a stroke and cardiac arrest survivor and use a cane for balance when I'm outside walking around and get too tired easy so I haven't been to a show since '07.
I love Motorweek!
How dare John Davis! Was the Previa not serious competition to the Chrysler minivans 🤣
The Continental looks close to the real one that was released years after
4:50 - Pikachu on wheels.
Jurassic Park Explorer 👀
Can somebody please build a time machine? Thanks.
I'm trying. Although most won't be able to afford it
😂
That 911 is quite valuable these days 🤑
My first new car was a 1997 Ford Aspire that I got when I was 18 and my dad co-signed for a loan on for me. $8800 new for base model with standard transmission. I hated the car because it was soooo underpowered with 61hp but but it was reliable and averaged something like 45 mpg.
The Sunfire Roadster actually looks kinda nice. Too bad we got something that looked far from nice
Wow, so many sedans and coupes and very few SUVs! Also, so many extinct brands!
Oldsmobile Aurora and Buick Riviera
Wow, so the RAM is no stranger to that title 😃 cool
85% of those cars are not even on the road anymore
I was there. They missed the corvette stingray iii
It's a shame that they never came out with the Pontiac Venom.
Wow, GM's former headquarters looked super outdated by 1994. I had never seen a video of it from the early 90s
Dodge Venom could've been made an RHD and export it to compete with the J29 Supra. A 330 horsepower engine should be enough and built with aftermarket support in mind.
The problem with Concept Cars is they always looked too futuristic. I get they are trying to predict in a way, but the designs were just way out there and more suited for 2050, whatever that looks like.
What happened to the 1995 Lexus LS400 video? its private now😕
That Lincoln 😘
1994 was a fantastic year to be a car nut. 😇👍
*Nonchalantly slips a Bugatti EB110 into the video* 😂
A sea of mostly Detroit junk. My how far they have come since then.
94 Galant please!

What is this all about?
Are You a mathematician?
1999 Ford Taurus Red Dark Brown Special Edition Final
Dodge Venom 🤪🤙
This seems to be about the time automakers began their run of badge engineered cars. Ford had some Korean shitbox, Cadillac Catera, even saw a Honda (Isuzu) Passport. At least CVTs weren't a thing yet.
4:00 if it ended up looking like this that would've been nice
I always thought all generations of the Chevrolet Lumina were hideous.
wow, they really skipped the ford powerstroke and the eb110
I feel so sad American market lost lots of great brands and replaced them with EU/Asian brands.
Good old Cobo Hall
The Dodge Plymouth Neon Hi
That rusty crusty poc Benz... XD
What's up with the Dodge Stratus tires they must be Michelin..
GM BABY😎
Muito da hora 👍
Aspire
Wish Lada sold in the US that time.
Seinfeld
And Detroit now?
What are you asking?
A lot of throw away cars they were.

5:07 Holy crap! That was an ugly @ss Bugatti.
Most of these cars are now the ugliest things that still curse the road
yuck a merc
Dodge neon ❤❤❤
