Erinne the Nurse Practitioner was so friendly thorough and professional during his examination, and I must admit there where many times I thought she was a qualified Doctor, so overall I would have to say is true credit to her profession and would make an excellent Doctor if she wished to take that extra step up 😊.

The biggest organ and space - the skin - wasn't even mentioned at all which SHOULD be part of the total body assessment. Also, checking the genitals is also part of an exam which she didn't do. The patient was likely a fellow student who also didn't get a breast exam as all patients should. Otherwise she was pretty good.
When she said "I'm gonna start off with your head" I was sure I found the best medical professional in the country...but as per usual...I left. early after making a smart ass comment...

Pretty decent exam, but forgot to do a hernia exam. Men really need those during a full exam. I have examined many patients that had hernias and really never knew it.
Hi, I would like to know, if the patience did not notice or feel pain for hernia, why is it necessary to check it? Is it a major concern ? Very thorough exam, nearly an hour long and done very efficiently. Now, fast forward to the real world where you have a 20 minute scheduled visit . . . the patient shows up 5 minutes late . . . it takes 10 minutes to get checked through the front desk, get vitals done by LPN or MA and get basic history as well as going over medication review . . . then you walk in with 5 minutes left before your next patient who is already waiting and pissed off. This patient takes FOR-EV-ER to describe all his problems with endless pointless tangents. He has a bazillion issues during the ROS. And even though you bulldogged him through that process, acting like a jerk who just needs to plow through the visit, you are now 20 minutes BEHIND schedule first thing after lunch, you haven't even started the actual exam yet, and you have 12 more patients lined up in the next 4 hours. Have fun with that 52 minute exam. The point is . . . school is NOT the same as actual practice. Both suck in their respective manners. Good luck kids!!
Believe me, I know. However, when I'm graded on every little detail, then I have no choice but to do it for school. In real life I am performing much more focused exams.
I agree, but they have to cover everything in school, and for the testing purposes so students know how to pinpoint the minor details even faster when it comes to clinical! In the clinics though, the complaints are not only one, patients can have multiple complaints which can lead to longer visits :)
