What a lovely video. Thank you. That just flew by! Makes me want to pull out my crate of Saint books and read them all again. Or at least look at them :) I got a large number from a stall in St Nicholas's indoor market in Bristol, most were Hodder & Stoughton yellowbacks but there were some newer Pans too, so I didn't have to resort to Ebay much. The TV novelisations were much harder to find.
I have a bunch of these, and always buy one when I see it. They are entertaining reads. They remind me a bit of Ian Fleming's Bond books. So different than modern adventure stories.
Great video. I don't own the Pans, but I was lucky enough to pick up several first edition, hardcover Saint books--complete with dust jackets--at a flea market for a criminally low price a few years ago. Keep up the good work!
I had to get the Saint Omnibuses in hardback of course, they're excellent for having the Leslie Charteris introductory musings on each story and why he selected them, plus other insights of his.
@@JulesBurt From memory, most are about a page or so in length for each short story, some are shorter. Also an intro to the whole volume, for each of the two volumes.
I collect Saint paperbacks with Roger Moore and Ian Ogilvy covers and have editions from all over the word including the UK, US, Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands, Israel, Spain, Portugal, etc,
Jules, fascinating and informative Saint - Charteris video, I never knew he had other writers doing Saint books. Great research and love those classic Pan covers!
Lara Franco and I have never read a book of "The Saint", but must admit we are totally in love with Vincent Price's radio drama performances :-D Well, at least the lately ones still available to hear, of course : _(
We're sure you're gonna love it!! For the ones not available from 1947 and such, fortunately there's a book in which you can read short summarys from those episodes. Imagine will do the rest x-D
I read a couple of Saint books as a kid because I liked the reruns. They would probably be horribly dated now though, so I will let them live in my memory.
Thanks, they are For Your Eyes Only (1981), License to Kill (1989), and Tomorrow Never Dies (1997). Only three left and then my collection is complete.
I am watching the saint on tv at the same time as watching this video on UA-cam. Any reprints sold at Barnes and Noble in the future? Or at used book shops? Maybe online purchases?
Wonderful cover art- one of the greatest things we have lost…
Absolutely correct, a lost art indeed.
Love the Saint!
Watched reruns as a kid, never read the books though, might have to find one and check it out.
Great video!
Thanks Erik, the books are common and cheap as chips, give one a try👍🙂

Thanks Frank! Yes, those TV ones are tough but I found one a couple of weeks ago so they are still out there!

A great comparison. The Pan editions in particular are very attractive 🙂
very good video. one of my favourite tv characters ( the 60s saint series)
Excellent!

Excellent, sounds like a bargain. I had some hardbacks years ago, really early ones but they were falling to bits!

Excellent stuff, are the intros long?

Sounds good🙂
Thanks Jules, very informative and interesting. Also very handy to help me with my collecting, much
appreciated.
Excellent, thanks Bev, really enjoyed making this one, any other authors in Pan you might suggest for the next one?

Awesome, that would make another great video. You can always send me pictures and I'll include in my next Viewers Collections video🙂
Hi Jules, Another enjoyable video with so many covers. Just FYI 'The Saint Plays with Fire' is by de Marco, Tim
Thanks Tim, also a source of Pan info🙂👍
Jules, fascinating and informative Saint - Charteris video, I never knew he had other writers doing Saint books. Great research and love those classic Pan covers!
Thanks Gary, this was one of my most enjoyable videos, researching and filming the books. Going to do some similar videos with other authors soon.
Great video Jules ! Got a few of these pans myself.
Thanks Chris, I really enjoyed making this one. The books are fantastic!🙂👍

Cool stuff, I shall check them out. Never heard any of the radio series.

Excellent, thanks 👍

Sometimes that's for the best, however, they are still a pretty decent read!
I just got three Bond films for my birthday on the 19th.
Nice, happy birthday!👍
Thanks, they are For Your Eyes Only (1981), License to Kill (1989), and Tomorrow Never Dies (1997).
Only three left and then my collection is complete.
Excellent, I rewatched OHMSS today.
That one was a sad one.
Yes, tragic ending, great film.

Great, you can definitely get them online, easiest is via eBay. The books are pretty darn amazing!
