  • The Bytesize team were floored by the response to the Everyday Chemistry contest last month. We received 32 great videos from all over the world, and all this week we'll be running our favorite clips from the competition.
The top spot went to a video on what to do if your dog gets "skunked." The video was produced by Sally B. Mitchell, a chemistry teacher from East Syracuse Minoa High School in Syracuse, NY. It turns out that tomato juice is not the best way to de-skunk your dog -- watch the video to find out more!
Each day this week, we will be posting another Everyday Chemistry video, so check back with us here and on www.BytesizeScience.com

Sally was my HS teacher many years ago and I still remember her and love her. She made learning fun. I love this video!

I've got to say I have always heard about tomato juice, and I love your scientific explanation why that's not a good choice.

but how can you know tell if your dog got skunked? my boy dog (Necco) got sprayed by one and it smells like old garlic and old motor oil and my female dog (Rosebud) didn't want to be around him and its nauseating but he came up to me shaking his head and foaming and drawling and sneezing and I believe he got sprayed in the face it was by the time we were heading to bed.
