It's a shame they changed the clothing and armour system from the first game. Being able to wear a underlayer of "clothing" and then armour on top for both chest and legs. had an arm slot too. Allowed for alot more customization in the way you're characters looked
Yes! I think this is the best part of Dragon’s Dogma 1
The cop out I read was you get a glorified Patagonia coat to account for all the clipping that may occur. DD1 figured it out tho. Even having pieces that would roll up sleeves to fit gauntlets a la Elden Ring
It feels like the first game has a lot more things than the sequel
It feels like they removed a lot of features that made the first game so great.
It’s better this way. More options are always better.

THESE ARE NOT “SETS”, these are just the armors being displayed together, which is why the classes for each armor may not align!
There isn’t exactly many full sets of armor that all are meant to go together. Most things are standalone so you can mix and match! (Just in case it wasn’t clear.)
Incorrect. There are many style sets that have corresponding pieces.
Melorian Plate goes with Dark metal Greaves
Blazing Soul helmet goes with the Thrasher Surcoat and Executioner Greaves
The Gryphic Helm goes with the Valiant Armor and Raptor Claws
The Fiendish Armet goes with the Grand Cuirass and Brutal Cuisses
And so on. It's about visually going together and a vast majority of these sets come from the original DD, wherein they were more properly named to identify which armors were part of a set. Considering Wayfarer allows you to wear anything, it really doesn't matter that some (few) of these sets do not 100% align based on class.
@@greyknight627 That’s only applicable to a few. Ravager Lord Helmet for example certainly does NOT go with Hyperboreal Lorica. There’s nothing incorrect about that, you can see it plainly.
Do you know if a complete list anywhere yet with the matching sets laid out?

Going to choose the Warfarer to be able to wear all armor combinations I want. No restrictions.
Only thing that sucks is warfarer makes you slightly weaker, you can only change out 3 skills, and you cant use the meister skills.
@@RealKingBacklash A price I'm willing to pay. I have seen the Warrior lacking on armor, even some that were used in the previous game are now for the Fighter alone. Besides, I can always change vocations if I want to fully use the Warrior best skills.
If you are on PC and not opposed to making it better, mods. Mods have already fixed this. @@RealKingBacklash
Honestly Warfarer adds quite a bit of incentive. Speaking from experience, you can still use all 4 skills, just can't use weapon swapping skill. Which honestly I do most of the time just so I can mixmatch armor but also playing as Warfarer levels up any unlocked vocation, albeit slower than if you actually played the vocation. I've been just using Magic Archer abilities, minus the Maister skill, and bow and rocking heavy armor with the Visage. It's the dream

The 2:47 headpiece of I’m not mistaken can only be found when going for the true ending of the game

There is NOT A SINGLE PERSON on internet who could answer that, even in the guides/wiki pages they don't give the source.
It's fine if you got it by modding (because it might be in the source code) but if not can you let us know please how to get it?

Many of these kinda feel like kitbashes made from existing assets (and im not talking about returning gear pieces from DD1, mostly) but they still look good. Ehh if only those idiots didnt gut layered armor system...
Nah I’m definitely annoyed about that. I been playing this game nonstop but so many armor variants looks like re-used and edited assets from DD1. Also rather annoyed they said something like “armor doesn’t matter too much you can wear whatever you want, we don’t want the player base wearing all the same stuff like in the first game because of how good it is.” Yet the stat difference on gear is ridiculous.
Also annoyed that I can’t wear the armor that you have on the “In Dragon’s Wake” quest during the flashback fighting the dragon and saving Ulrika.

@@gho5tspartan26yt Stats never mattered outside of BBI. So you always could have just worn whatever you wanted. Fashion has always been more important.

That helm with the horns at 0:14 reminds me of the Hydra gear from BitterBlack in DD:DA. I’m guessing it doesn’t come with the rapid healing effect though, right?
Despite having the full "immortal" set for ddda in dd2, it doesn't heal, most of endgame gear (weapon and outfits) are lvl 2 and 3 from bitterblack
Dude this game honestly is such a banger, i have 40 ish hours on it so far and its like playing Dungeons and Dragons hack and slash, thought i was in the end game already cause i made it to the bottom of the map but then i saw all the armor at the beginning of the vid and now i know its gonna be at least another 20 - 30 hours before i even finish the game lol

you are missing one of the "pants" it's the highlanders kilt from the first game, it was seen on one of the developers characters when they showcased some gameplay before it came out like a year ago and I can't find it
I'm pretty sure those are all the armor items available in the game, and what you saw was probably cut from the final version of the game.

3:42 where can I get that leg piece ?
When you go to the right in the Dragon Tomb, to the jumping section, below the statue there, there is a hidden wall-door. Go through it to reveal a mini dungeon. Progress through it till you reach the intersection with 2 skeletons on the ground. Look to the right and up, then there should be a ledge with a gear chest but you can't reach it so make sure you have a pawn that can help you jump up

While it's a bummer the armor system is simplified and relatively stripped down this time around, its really cool they seemed to keep in mind the awesome combos when they consolidated a lot of the pieces

no unfortunately the chest piece i found that matches (thrasher's surcoat) looks quite different than the immortal surcoat. i also believe there are some greave but i cant seem to find them rn

its hard to explain but somewhere in the early game you will be traveling on the path and there will be ruins to the left and one of your pawns will say something about a spy and you beed to go to the tip of the stairs and open a chest
@@shukohs can you be a bit more specific? Where early game, near vermund, melve, harve/etc? There's a lot of places with ruins to the left
This person is referring to "Gathering of beasts" near melve. Unfortunately it's just the soft neck wrap variant without the scarf

Even with the armor system being gutted, even with sets on display being mixed and not displayed as matching, everything still somehow looks exceptional. Even mage, magick archer and rogue/assassin type of armor, instead of something dweeby and meek, looks intimidating, hardy and incredibly stylish. Even elven gear, with how much in recent fantasy the elven race reputation was reduced to being weak dweebs, makes you look like a fucking hyperborean gigachad.

Really fucking annoyed I can’t get the armor set and helmet that you wear during the “In Dragon’s Wake” quest during the flashback duel with the dragon.
I only wish you went just a tiny bit further and tried to match some of the sets together. There isn’t many but definitely a few that visually piece together
so the Sovereigns Mantle from dragons dogma 1 is renamed the commander's mantle and it got a more grey color instead of brown?
I see different classes icons above the Defense value. Do they mean the vocation restrictions?
Yes but I think that as a warferer you can wear all armore sets without the vocation restriction

I wish they added a glamour feature so you can keep stats but still customize your look. It makes no sense creating all these awesome pieces only for most of us to use whatever has the better value, or sacrifice stats for fashion 😩

I really liked the Fighter armor in the character creation you can toggle on and off, but I don't think I ever found it in game.
Ah so the Plate Armor is at 1:58, but the leg pieces are different. So just have to match those.
