Hey guys!! Please ignore my crazy hair. I was trying a new style for Christmas and it didn’t quite work out…..ok, the truth is I picked up the wrong hair cutter and accidentally cut it too short 😂 it’ll be perfect for next time. Or as perfect as my hair could ever be. Dan x
Shop Around the Corner is one of my favorite Christmas movies!! I discovered it several years ago and watch it every year now (we have it on DVD) So glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Kay, YES, release the Advent scarf pattern. People are always looking for projects to use those mini skeins and this design created a lovely cohesion of many different hues with the use of a neutral between the colors. It’s lovely and simple (just what we need in December!) and I think it would be a big hit.
I'm very new to watching and am quite astonished at the incredible content. There is nothing like this out there. You two are an amazing blend of talent and I appreciate your wisdom and common sense approach to life in general. Now I am going back and watching, watching.
Dan, I’m so relieved for your explanation of your new hair style. I feared you might have had a medical procedure. But now I’m entertaining myself by playing out that hair trimming scenario in my mind. 😂
For the KP Stroll heel, I think the gold color just SINGS with the Paint Sock striping colorway! All the colors have a bit of a golden undertone - that’s part of what makes them look autumnal, I feel. Or Dan might just really prefer the bamboo heather??
Nora Ephron films are my favorite! All the ones you mentioned, plus Julie and Julia. Ooh, and Heartburn. And if you enjoy those films, you might like the new movie with Meg Ryan and David Duchovny called What Happens Later. Not Nora Ephron related, but I think it gives a similar feel as her films.
Happy new year to you both,,,,!! A great show,,thank you,,, Fun segment with the book ,,dyeing ,,and pattern,,,,Going to use my stash and do the cowl ,,,Kay!!! Excited to follow along,,,still working in my favorite blanket ,,,,that's OK,,, We always watch when harry met sally at Christmas,,,,my fav!!! And we😘😉😘did watch the jeans Stewart movie as well,,,,!! Take care, Elaine 😍😍
Really enjoyed this video so much. I love to read and knit often with classical music in the background- so I was very tickled by your intro. Kay, the yarn dying was fascinating and I loved how you tied it in with the book and outlined your process. I will never dye yarn myself, but I found it so interesting. I can’t wait to see the next instalment. I was knitting on my Marie Wallin Lupin socks while I watched you both and I wonder if you have ever tried colour work socks at all? This is my first attempt and I must say it’s very addictive seeing the shapes and colours emerge. I had yarns left over from her Primrose sweater and thought to have a go. Your socks for Dan look lovely and I do like the green for your heels and toes. All in all a fab new years episode to cheer me through these chilly days up here in Banff, Scotland!
The Shop Around theCorner is must watch for me every Christmas. You need to watch In the Good Old Summertime, a 1949 remake with Judy Garland and Van Johnson.
Always puts a smile on my face when I see an alert for a new episode of The Bakery Bear's!! For Dan's, socks, I really like the Forest Heather cause it matches the intensity of the brick red color
I absolutely love all your projects. I have some hand dyed yarn that I made quite some time ago and I'm going to work along with you with this cowl. I can't wait to start.❤❤❤❤
OMG Dan I Can only imagine doing that to my husband by accident, thankfully hair grows back! Kay I'm the same way when everyone is doing something then I have to do something different lol.
I have knit 2 pairs of socks with the Laines du Nord yarn before, and I love them. My lys carries that brand in the US. Just an fyi there is a section of off colored yarn in the middle of the skein that tells you where to start the 2nd sock, so they match! Ask me how I found this out! Lol
OOOO TY 4 sharing and about that book ! Im readding a very stirringly endearing book about a orphan street boy who turns into a millionaire true story ! in Kenya . I just cant believe what he went thru . and his mom . the beginning is a bit rough to go thru but it does happen domestic abuse and the story is every bit worth to realize in anyones lifetime !!! Its The Charles Mulli Story FATHER TO THE FATHERLESS Paul Boge
I was inspired by your advent scarf and decided to try and knit one with mine. It ended up being a fade😢and the coordinating color was a very pale silver, more white. 😒 so I decided to fade one direction and back the other way. I did not keep up, and I am currently about halfway and trying to stay motivated to finish. (Would much rather start the reading cowl!)
35 is a huge number of cast ons! This year, though I love watching new projects, I usually watch but not join in. This year I’m going to try and knit as you knit.
“She Loves Me” is a fantastic musical based on The Shop around the Corner.” One of our favorites. Seen it on Broadway and other productions. I highly recommend you listen to the soundtrack.
There’s nowt wrong with being an introvert Kay, you’re not stupid 😊 I get very tongue-tied when I have to do small-talk and often start talking nonsense.
I love my socks. I did make a modification for my feet. I have a narrow heel and a very wide foot so did the medium sock as written but once the heel was done I switched to one size bigger needles. Sigh, so comfy.
I have been in the Reading mode lately, glad to be back to books, and I immediately ordered And Then There Were None! I love the idea of the Yarn Book Club! I am almost done with my stripes scarf from an Advent, (had to "rearrange") the fade concept. I am over the Fade! And then I am casting on the that Beautiful Cowl. I need inspiration, and then I am off and running!! Oh, and Dan I was quite smitten with those colors for your LettiLopi!
What a great kick off for 2024! I'm looking forward to knitting your Reading Corner Cowl. I love to bake Lemon Meringue pies and I am really looking forward to seeing how you bake them and giving your recipe a whirl 🍋 Anne 🐨
I’ll jump in.Kay has 34 cast one, Dan has 11. I love the new colorways! I’m going to make 4 My Favorite Blankets this year. I think I’ll make 2 with the new book club colors. Kay, will the neutral work held together with the book colors?
Hello, welcome back and happy new year! Yes please public a pattern for your lovely advent scarf. I’m always looking for a fun and practical pattern and that one fits the bill! 😊
Kay - 31 cast ons, Dan - 9 cast ons, self - I'd like to start and finish 6 (all sweaters) ... any more is just gravy! Love this dye series. I read 'And then there were none' ages ago. Got our 15 year old hooked on Agatha Christie after watching the latest Murder on the Orient Express. Happy New Year from Canada.
That’s too funny, I just finished reading And Then There Were None after your Patreon live where I think you mentioned it!! Loved it and love the colourway too!! Happy New Year!! 🥳
About how much of these skeins will you use on this cowl? I feel like I have plenty of leftovers I could use for this one. Obviously that neutral color needs a lot more - lol

Hello from my new home in Swansea Illinois. Now comes the hard part of unpacking and putting everything away.
Dan, I’m so relieved for your explanation of your new hair style. I feared you might have had a medical procedure. But now I’m entertaining myself by playing out that hair trimming scenario in my mind. 😂
“The year of 24”! Yay!! Best show ever. Now I want to go and rewatch the entire series.
André needs you to knit him something, Kay!
For the KP Stroll heel, I think the gold color just SINGS with the Paint Sock striping colorway! All the colors have a bit of a golden undertone - that’s part of what makes them look autumnal, I feel. Or Dan might just really prefer the bamboo heather??
Kay 33 / Dan 9.
My 1st guess for Kay was 31. We will see if I should have stayed with that. 😊
May y’all have a blessed year. ❤

I love Letlopi - I made a huge poncho for my 6'4" son for Christmas. I have done a ton of sweaters in lopi.....ahhhhh
What a great start to 2024. Can’t wait to enjoy the years episodes. Okay Kay 33 new cast on and Dan 13.
Love the Nutcracker socks. The Nutcracker ballet is special to me as my daughter performed in it for several years.
Love the Yarny Book Club

I LOVE that you chose paint sock for your new years cast on! We still carry those in our local yarn shop!🥰
I absolutely love all your projects.

I love the Advent Shawl. I would love to knit it.
Kay, 38 cast ons. Dan 15 cast ons. Happy New Year. 💖🧶🧦🐑🥰

Thank you for continuing to dye yarn this year! Happy New Year! 🎊🎊
I got a laugh imagining how that played out - I could SO relate, Dan!😂
Thank you for another great episode. My guess is Kay 48 Dan 20
I would guess 36 for Kay, I agree with Dan on 12. So, I fell down a steep flight of stairs on my bum, broke my tailbone....just glad you are not hurt!
35 is a huge number of cast ons!
This year, though I love watching new projects, I usually watch but not join in. This year I’m going to try and knit as you knit.
Kurrawong colour is named after an Australian black bird 👌✨

Happy New Year! Great first show of 2024. Knitting Yarn dyeing and books oh my!!!
Just wondering if you ever watched "dinner for one" my favorite new year movie
I have been in the Reading mode lately, glad to be back to books, and I immediately ordered And Then There Were None! I love the idea of the Yarn Book Club! Happy New Year, Dan & Kay! 🎉 I’m guessing your new cast on’s for 2024 will be: Dan’s 15 & Kay’s 40. Happy stitching! 🧶❤
Kay - 37, Dan -9. Happy New Year to you and Bryony. Looking forward to another creative year from you two. Hope life is good to you this year 🎉❤
You can go your own way by Fleetwood Mac lol. Happy New Year!!
Gee I was thinking 7. I don’t cast on numerous projects very often.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who did the Sophie and found it too small Kay
I’ll jump in.Kay has 34 cast one, Dan has 11. I love the new colorways! I’m going to make 4 My Favorite Blankets this year. I think I’ll make 2 with the new book club colors. Kay, will the neutral work held together with the book colors?

That’s too funny, I just finished reading And Then There Were None after your Patreon live where I think you mentioned it!! Loved it and love the colourway too!! Happy New Year!! 🥳
On this episode I love the yarn that you used on the socks would to know the yarn and pattern
Happy New Year! ❤ Yes, in Southern California, I don’t think we have Lopi weather, except of course up in the mountains. It does look very lovely.
About how much of these skeins will you use on this cowl? I feel like I have plenty of leftovers I could use for this one. Obviously that neutral color needs a lot more - lol
🤭🤭🙈just seen her hair Dan - oh dear 😂😂
My guess is 18 new cast ons for Kay in 2024.
Where can I find the pattern for the cables & twist socks? I love them 💗
I say Kay 21 and Dan 8 cast ons for 2024.
I find that some yarns appear to be thinner in places which seem to be the same shade
I did find the Laines du nor yarn in a U.S. store in Maine.
Mmmmm nice hair Dan. You might be creating a new fashion
15 for Dan 36 for Kay
12 ( I already have 2)
I think Kay will have 48 new cast ons, and Dan will cast on 9 projects.
Their was a remake of the bishops wife…with Whitney Houston, Denzel Washington, etc. itwaswell done.
Kay 33 Dan 13
i predict about 50
P.S Or your hair I should have put Dan 🤭
Kay 50 and Dan 25.
