Re: Trixie vs. Pearl, Trixie said she was so certain that when she heard Pearl's name that it was going to be a double save. She was 100% certain and she readily admits she's not the best lip syncher but in this instance she knew she slayed it and assumed Ru would reward that forgetting riggory is the norm for RPDR.
I honestly think the only reason Pearl was saved was because Ru probably didn’t want her leaving with negative feelings and wanted to try to reach her.
That being said, Trixie did win that lip sync and I wasn’t ready to see her go.
@@adamjustadam as much as I’d love to think Ru kept Pearl to try and have her leave on good terms, that is absolutely not what happened. If you go on Pearl’s UA-cam channel there’s a video of her reacting to Ru and Michelle talking about her on their podcast and Ru said something to the effect of “I wanted to make her cry and hurt really bad, but I had to keep my producer hat on and thought she’s a cute boy I know she’ll be a fan favourite so I’ll keep her around to keep the viewers happy” so Ru couldn’t care less about her and was only thinking about what’s best of the show

Based on the edit at least, Pearl gave a better lipsync. Trixie's was fun and camp but it wasn't giving anything. Pearl had fire in her eyes and delivered straight out.
Mera, how could you not mention the infamous "Cherry Bomb" lip sync with Katya vs. Alaska?!! I remember being furious and thinking, "It's all rigged for Alaska to win."
I kept yelling at the screen “THEY MIGHT AS WELL BE FLATS”. She wore THE ugliest shoes and kept winning? Riggory. Queens have been read for less, much less.
Also, the fake laughing by the judges at things that aren’t funny or done well drives me nuts. Nothing like good ol’ ‘reality tv’.
Not really I mean Alaska had tricks with the American flag 🇺🇸 and looked like it too and katya held her own using her leg as a guitar 🎸 but katya even said she wished to have taken her lip syncs more seriously but love em both so

For Tina Vs Utica a rewatch completely flipped my opinion on it. Tina was the clear winner the first time I watched it but I paid specific attention to Utica the second time and I understood why she won completely

And even in the challenge, I still sometimes watch Showsquirrels to laugh at Jaremi's performance. This was the time I really thought it was a clean sweep, from start to end.

For me Ursula won the lipsync against Prince Hans on Disney's Drag Race. We all know younger Queens have favoritism, but c'mon, Ursula slayed I Put a Spell on You by Nina Simone while Prince Hans did a lame death drop.

I was gonna mention Katya and Alaska's second lip sync in All Stars 2. I felt Katya actually won that lip sync. A flag out of a wig is not enough to win a lip sync, if you ask me. Additionally, with lip sync results for the finale already being sketch, they should just go to the old Season 1 - 3 format: narrow it down to a Top 3, eliminate one, and then have the Top 2 lip sync (preferably the ones with the higher track record so that the lip sync has some type of stakes to it). If the final lip syncs of the season had been between Sharon and Chad Michaels, Jinx and Alaska, Bianca and Courtney, or Ginger and Violet, it allowed a queen to win without trapping the producers in a situation where someone who performed below several queens could win the season. It may provide shock value, but it leaves the audience unsatisfied.

Alaska licked Katya
When I think of this category, I immediately think about the Alaska vs Katya’s Cherry Bomb lip sync.
Regarding the CDR finale lip sync… and pretty much all finale lip syncs…. I always think of the final one a last hoorah, not so much of who did better. Production picks who they plan on crowning before. Things may change if its incredibly gaggy/a moment (aka Sasha’s rose moment). There weren’t any times in Jada and Giselle’s lip sync where I thought one was so much better than the other.

Giselle won the lip sync for me. I didn't need all that straining, contrived, presentational drama Jada was serving. It didn't match the lyrics or the emotion of the song. Also, Tabbi spilling the Voltron truth to the children.
For real Gisele did pure drag Celine perfection with that performance but Jada wasn’t as connected to the song.
Jada was just doing too much, Gisele embodied the spirit of the song, she totally won it for me.

RuPaul never says the "winner" of the lip sync gets to stay.
His exact words are:
"This is your last chance to impress me and save yourself from elimination. The time has come for you to lip sync for your life. Good luck and don't (bleep) it up."
So a person could very well "win" a lip sync and be eliminated from the competition because they didn't impress RuPaul enough to stay.
Personally, I think they should extrapolate from season 14 with the gals doing their own unique songs that allows them to shine with a genre that works best for them putting them in their best light. And then Ru can pick his favorite from that. Or it could be like a triple threat scenario where they do their individual song, then there's the interview with Ru on the stage and ending with their final finest look. Ru could judge them on all three categories: lip synch, personality/humor and fashion style. All three are integral to being a great drag artist.There could even be a fourth category for make up artistry.
Giselle was not only the winner of that lipsync, but the clear winner of the season IMO. Fierce and Jada and Kimmy did great too but honestly Giselle’s performance was so incredible throughout the season and even the one time she ended up in the bottom, she could have been safe.
the level of detail tabbi shows is amazing, she coulda just put on that onesie and been like "done" but she looks fully padded and womanna! also the drag earrings with the onesie i love it so much!
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how beautiful, personable & talented Ms Mangle is, I watch this channel for her way more than the topic. As a Brit, that dry humour & delivery has me pissing. I keep saying ‘content!’ And ‘plus you’ll be supporting the channel’ in conversations with mates & they look at me like I’ve lost it 😂
I think it's a pretty implicit rule now that the very last lipsync never matters, the one who wins is the one who did better throughout the season : Alaska, Trixie, Aquaria, Jinkx, arguably Symone...
Regarding Tina vs Utica. On my first watch-through, I felt something was off with Tina's performance. Then, I watched it, a couple more times. And I feel convinced, Tina didn't know a lot of the words. They cut away from her at odd moments, or showed her facing away from the camera a lot. So I really think the edit was trying to be favorable to her, not tarnishing her reputation by showing how little she knew the words. And that, combined with Utica's energy, made her the for-sure pick.
for the Trixie vs Kennedy lipsync I honestly genuinely think Trixie did a better at the lip sync. Kennedy felt like a backround dancer to be honest. The dancing was beautiful for sure but I don't think it was fitting for the song.
I am so glad you mentioned Holland. Because I am still fuming about it. The favoritism for Vivaldi and Countess really destroyed that season. I am still sure Fred liked Abby OMG because she was a hot boy like Ru did Pearl… and that’s why she made it to the finale in season 1 because honestly to me she already lost the lipsync against Megan Schoonbrood. Ivy in season 2 actually won all her lipsyncs, she deserved to stay. It still annoyes me so much.
I agree with all of this. I liked Holland but the favoritism was out of control.
For me, Giselle absolutely won that lip sync. Jada emoted really well, but as Tabbi said, the energy didn't match the song quite as well as Giselle did. Jada is a great performer though!

For the All Stars 7 crowning, when Ru said “based off this lip sync and your performance throughout the season”, it sounded dubbed in last minute. The quality of sound is noticeably different, so they knew Jinx lost that lip sync.
Where did you watch the AS7 finale episode? The reason why I ask is cause some streaming platforms have better sound quality than others. And with the fact that all the rules of the competition are followed very closely, there is no way that Jinx would have been given the crown if she legitimately did not earn it.
@@gl3913 they were giving Jinkx the crown regardless. The amount of times queens spoke on the favoritism she had during the season, it’s kind of hard to not admit that she wasn’t pushed
That was the only reason Monet could’ve won it’s always been that the last last lip sync is based on the track record this is the first time it’s ever been based on lip syncing too

generally, to me the final lip sync only matters like 10%. it doesn’t make sense to do the whole entire competition but then just decide the winner on one lip sync. to me the winner is and should always be decided based on how they do and the season and who will fit the role best as a winner.

I still stand by that Utica was better in that lip sync. Tina was fine but it was what you'd expect from the song without adding anything to it. Utica's look and movements made it hilarious and unexpected.
Honestly I wish final lip syncs for the crown were always slower ballad type songs like on as2 where the queens just park and bark and give emotion, and then it’s easier to edit one queen as the winner based on track record.
Eureka did serve that lip sync for the crown and Kameron and Aquaria gave freestyle back up dancers

As an Italian I understand the negative bias against Drag Race Italia, but it is scheduled to start in October, the cast (basing on spoilers) should be a bit more consistent in term of looks, and I really hope that production stepped up and fixed the errors of Season 1. I would still give it a shot if I were you, I feel like it could be a Down Under season 1 and 2 kind of improvement
And the cute guy should be the main judge… the drag queen seemed like she didn’t care about the queens on season 1
my biggest issue was the editing... it felt manic, soo many zooms and close ups different shots I hated the entire Runways section. I'll def give S2 a try
They gave a second chance to Down Under which was way worse

The Utica lipsync, I think it's on the list because people turned on Utica at the end of the season. At the time it didn't like anyone was complaining

Trixie vs Pearl was the first time I got legitimately upset at the show and to this day it’s the most egregious example of production meddling I’ve seen in any season. Though newer seasons are way more rigged overall, that moment still stands out as the first big evidence that Drag Race is a purely entertainment driven show.
P.S.: idk if this is a hot take or not but imo Kandy won against Symone

I disagree on the Kandy Ho vs Kasha Davis Lipsync.
When I think of it, the only thing I remember is when Kandy Ho falls to her knees and does that scream perfectly to the song and I remember being completely blown away by it.
Nina v Silky... That was a hot mess but dont tell me our care bear dancing like a soccer mum at a 1D concert lost to Silky who tripped over her belt

One other lipsync I'd add to the "double save where one queen lost" category is Scarlett Harlett vs Charity Kase to Who Do You Think You Are. Pretty much everyone unanimously agrees that Charity won, but they still kept Scarlett regardless. They announced it as a double win too, not like Dela where they would've said "we want more from you" to Scarlett.
The best part of this episode of Mangled Morning was the discussion of Power Rangers, Care Bears, and Voltron.
Great video idea. Queens who did the worst and did not lipsync or had immunity. EX Tina burner on the makeover, Gotmik on the discomentary, Alyssa Edwards on Snatch Game, Chrystal Methyd on Snatch Game, Tyra on Snatch Game, Jorgeous in the super teasers, Miss Fame on the parodies, etc.

Look the final lip sync rarely if ever matters, the producers know who they’re going to crown as soon as they get out of bed. It’s fluff before they crown the best choice for the crown.

I agree Jinkx lost the Swish Swish lip sync, but A) I am still glad she won because she ATE that season and B) Swish Swish is a crappy lip sync song and I will stand by that!

scarlet vs raja is always a lipsync where i think the wrong person went home and if queens on that season came out saying raja won just remember some queens hated scarlet on that season. so its hard to say who should have won i would have been happy with a double save xD

The face you made Mera when talking about the season of Italia! I recently started subscribing to WoW+ and thought about catching up to the Int’l seasons I haven’t seen…well Italia was on my list…now it just went up front and centre cause I’m curious to watch this train wreck!
I enjoyed Italia. True the edges were not sanded off evenly - I thought it did a decent job capturing Italian culture and had some good moments.
The editing and the production are really messy but the cast and the challenges are really good. The season is really not that bad.
The cast is really compelling. I have no love lost for the host. It was very....weird. I haven’t watched the second a second time.
If I may, DR España, DR Thailand and DR Philippines are my favorites and really amazing. (España is by far the most wonderful to watch IMO)

But Jada shouldn't have been lipsyncing in the top 2 to begin with considering that Ms Fiercalicious had the best track record out of the top 4 (beating Gisèle by just one more high placement) whereas Jada had the worst (Kimmy had no lows but Jada did.) track record.

Giselle's was a master class of a mid-tempo song. She embodied the song, which was hope, and also the confidence is giving her, she is in control now. She also started slow, where she mainly used gestures close to her body and standing body movement, which provide a contrast to the climax of the song where she needs to show the passion. Her face really sells it.
Whereas Jaida just showed passion and desperation. Perfect for many, many songs. But this song is not about that. It was very one note, she didn't really go anywhere with the lip sync, she just spun round and round in the end. To be honest, it gave me the same vibes as Kenya Michaels doing cartwheels next to Latrice owning the lipsync, it just didn't match the tone or lyrics.
I think something that wasn't brought up is lip syncs that could have been double eliminations. Like Pearl and Miss Fame. Wrong queen won because no queen won.
I watch season 7 every morning and when I first saw pearl vs trixie I thought trixie won the lip sync but every time I watch that episode I can’t stop staring at pearl she just looked mesmerizing in that lip sync and u can see in her eyes she was fighting for the spot. I think I also read somewhere that ginger also agreed with ru saving pearl cuz again pearl looked mesmerizing or something like that idk

Sorry but I think Trixie won against Kennedy rightfully so. I am not a hardcore trixie stan btw, but as Mera said Kennedy danced beautifuly and therefore you couldnt see her lipsynk at all. If there is a big yellow blob in front of Kennedy my attention is automaticly on Trixie and she sold the emotions plus her throwing the cote away felt very powerful and energetic while kennedy is dancing circles around her and not LIPSYNCING at all.
