Interested in a Latin American hidden gem that, similarly to the Dominican Republic, has a semi-territorial tax system? Watch this video about Uruguay and learn how you can enjoy an 11-year tax holiday by relocating to the country: ua-cam.com/video/XGkNdkGHyQw/v-deo.html

I'm an American who lives in Santo Domingo. I love it here! Quality of living is high. All the conveniences and great restaurants. The laid back culture is phenomenal.

Great summary, especially regarding personal and corporate tax benefits, of a Carribean jurisdiction that does indeed fly under the radar.

My question is how does DR keep the troubles of its neighbor of Haiti from crossing the border

I’m Dominican. That’s a long standing problem and the major issue is the use and overload of public services by Haitians and the cultural differences; as a foreigner it’s very unlikely that you’ll ever need (or want) public school or public hospitals on a frequent basis; private services are much better. None of the places you would like to live in are anywhere close to the border; so far we’ve kept safe from Haitian criminals, actually even in Haiti the problem is very focused at Port-au-Prince. But the best way for you to know is visiting the country :)

@@ParteraQuisqueyana I appreciate your detailed response. Unfortunately, most people who haven't lived here will never understand this. I personally couldn't understand this until I visited Dajabon.

@@lavidawithjoey Thank you. I would advise people not to listen to the media and actually talk to Dominicans and Haitians or visit the countries if they really want to know the truth.

La respuesta es simple...se habla español, las islas y territorios donde se habla español generalmente no son la primera opcion para gente de EEUU y Europa

The DR is the second most visited country in Latin America after Mexico, so it’s literally the second option in proximity, after another Spanish speaking country.
