It was a show the entire family sat down and watched, I know my family did, my great grandmother 72 yrs old, my parents in their early forties, my brother and sister 14, 9 & 6 yrs old, eating roasted pnuts and drinking ice cold coca cola. A really great show.
Viewing Sapphire's rants are the highlight of the Amos 'n' Andy shows. Ernestine Wade should have been awarded an Emmy for her portrayal and performance of the Sapphire character.
Look how much respect they each had for the reverend. Almost a sense of duty to the community and to each other to remain married together and work out all their issues together. Those were different times.

Man, this show killed me - I bought whole series on Ebay. I thought it was one of the funniest shows, ever. People griped that it made black people look foolish when it was obviously just an over the top comedy. I mean, did Archie Bunker and Edith make white folks look smart and sane??? No, it they white people look bad in every conceivable way, for the most part. But it was a joke. These were great, comedic actors. I still think Amos & Andy was one of the funniest shows ever to be on TV.

I loved this show when I was a kid. Every race has guys like this. Used to watch it after school in the late 50's.
