Thanks for reviewing the Gen 2 and the spool gun on aluminum . Your is the only video online about it
Prime weld is a good welder and they have a warranty but there are other great choices that offer warranties at a less expensive price. Thank You for the video
What other choices are there that beat these features and warranty on price? Genuinely asking, I am looking to make a purchase and live in a location that doesn't have many options.
@@ItsStuder I own a Prime-Weld Mig 180 and Cut 50 Plasma cutter. I have been researching product value on a short budget because I want to up my amps and duty cycle from 30% to 60% and have synergic availability. Amazon distributes Hynade welding products and offers 2 or 3 year warranties for short money, through them. Hynade products are made in China as is Prime- Weld. Check out their reviews.
@@ItsStuder I own a Prime-Weld 180 Mig and a Prime-Weld cut 50 Plasma but now I want to upgrade my Amperage and have the availability of a Synergic function on my budget and still have a great warranty. I am looking at Hynade. Distributed , sold and warrantied by Amazon. They offer 3 or 4 year warranties for short money. Thank You
Thank you for putting this video out I can't find hardly any videos on this product the new Gen. 2 anyway anyway thank you very much I have bought this one just waiting for it to get delivered
Thank you. Been thinking of this purchase. Already own the other prime weld products. They stand behind every purchase.
Been happy with both mine!
I have the primeweld 225 Is X tig welder. Absolutely love it, I have to say I am sold on primeweld. My macho mig welder finally checked out, I see a primeWeld 180 in the near future.....
Well! It's been a good unit for me so far! Can't complain about either
Matco welder checked out....
Did you not like the regulator that came with your 225? Seems like the op did not like his regulator as stated at the beginningnof the video.
Great review , thanks for sharing the spool gun , I just wonder if it would’ve been cleaner if running straight argon. And I believe if using 75/25 the mig steel would have been better also, but still the welds looked good , Thanks again ,I believe I’ll buy it.
On the Prime Weld Mig 180 standard MIG gun how do you know the direction of the flat plug that handles the wire feeding? The plug has two terminals and it can fit up or down, the manual says that it is keyed but it doesn't appear to be. The plug has the "Made in China" stamp on it...would that be on the bottom?
Hey man just got the primeweld 180 and definitely love this little welder and for the price you can't beat it ... However my only question is when you adjust the wire speed does it go up by 1. Because mine is a little off it is going up by 2s or 3s so if your wanting to set it at 231 and say your at 230 it will go up to 233 or 232 . It's odd and I don't know if I need to call Primeweld or what .
@@charliehuntsman9827 I would send prime weld an email, if I remember right I can adjust mine by 1 I’ll double check when I get over to the shop and let you know
@@charliehuntsman9827 I lied to you! Mine jumps up a couple at a time as well, voltage I can move small amounts
Just ordered this !
How did you like it?
@@ArvizuDesignFab it’s the first mig welder i’ve used besides the huge industrial millers from work and i hate it lol. 0.30 setting welds are too cold , waaay too much wire speed so i go based off the .40 settings . kinda hard to keep guessing & adjusting your settings when your constantly welding different gauge metals
@@betosgarage wow!! Interesting, probably something wrong on the wire speed selector? It will be different as the professionals Millers but shouldn’t be that bad, have you contacted Customer Service?
@@ArvizuDesignFab this is the second unit i’ve had , first one was bad out the box so it was replaced after calling customer service . i will be buying a miller 211 or lincoln next forsure tho for my home shop
Allways clean your aluminum before welding and always push. I use a cordless grinder with a wire brush. Probably not ideal but I do miles of welding. Mostly steel
What is the name brand regulator?
How does it do on 110 flux core . You know for like a little Mobil welder
Nice welder, good review. Have you tried 1/2 inch steel with it? If so how did it perform?
I only did a short test with half inch, it seemed to do OK with it. But I haven't done enough of it to know for sure!

Thank you. Meanwhile I bought it and it does it all...
Does your wire speed go by increments of 4-6 while trying to adjust it? Bought a brand new one made 5 welds with it haven’t talked to one other person with similar problem but primeweld is saying it is normal to go in increments of 4 on wire, out of the 7 MiG welders I have and numerous ones I’ve used over past 15 years have never had one that does it and haven’t found one person that says there is does it plus trying to weld 1/16 metal on 120 with .030 wire barely penetrates the metal maxed out and my old titanium blows holes in it maxed out
Something is wrong with it, you should definitely be able to go in single increments, and I would think on 120, you should be able to weld 1/16 with ease
@@fab_tastic7130 thanks for the reply back that’s what I thought I’ve never seen one go by 4,primeweld originally said something wrong and that he was sending one out then now he was wrong he talked to engineer and they are set to do that by 4 kinda sounds to me like they don’t want to warranty a bad unit, which is disappointing being that they are ditto have the best customer service lol just haven’t found anybody that there’s is going by 4 lol
Did you buy a kit for your fab table there?
Nope, just designed it on fusion and cut it on the plasma table!
I can say the same thing the warranty on primewell Tig 225x is just bodacious too I had the same thing I was running my machine hard welding aluminum and then all of a sudden I started having problems with the high frequency not wanting to start on aluminum and they did the same thing when I called them they said walk me through did a few tests check the gap on the high frequency and they did the same thing sent me out a brand new machine and a return tag for the old one I got nothing but good things to say about primewell I've had no issues with my machine whatsoever I run it hard for 6 to 8 hours a day cranked up between 180 and 225 welding aluminum 3/4 to 5/8 aluminum all day long.....
No doubt! I suggest these welders to everyone! Especially people wanting to get into welding!
@@fab_tastic7130 same thing here I have found that this welder is actually quite better to use than the miller syncrowave 200 that i learned on my teacher was evan impressed and secretly bought one for home cuz his Miller dynasty 350 DX had a board crap out $2500 to replace it.
Miller is horrible. My 211 crapped out with only 3 spools running through it. Juuussst beyond warranty and Miller shit on me.
@@jlduckworth8712 that seems to be the same thing with everybody soon as it comes to where it's just out of warranty instead of them bending the rules a little bit to get you going they tell you that it's going to be $2,000 to $3,000 for a board no matter what! Then just like I said with prime weld there customer service is beyond good...
@@jlduckworth8712They are highly over rated and slowly dying off.
Hey I’m looking at getting a new welder, why this over a Lincoln? Thoughts?
Lincolns are good units, idk if I would say this over one, if you're not new to welding and are doing production work with it, I'd go with more of name brand. This is a great entry level low volume work load kind of machine. I've been happy with it for at home use. If I was going to do more production with it. I would look into a Lincoln or Miller
@@fab_tastic7130 Cool, I thank you for the honesty! No I’m not new to welding, I was previously a certified welder (1” unlimited). Just getting back into it. I think I’ll spend the extra money and go with a Lincoln as a Millermatic is still out of my budget for now. Thanks a ton for the response and great videos!
Bud it’s not dirty it’s the coating on the aluminum burning off. I weld aluminum with a 575 machine in a fab shop. You have to take the coating off where you want to weld. The black can be wiped away with a wire brush. No offence but you small guys have no idea on what your talking about when it comes to welding aluminum. Why even show a video on it if you have no idea.
In America we have a saying; if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. I bet that is written down somewhere in Canada too.
do a video and show us or STFU.
