Happy New Year to you too Stuart! A fascinating short video about the hat. Interesting about the "reputed" aspect. I live in Southport and near me at Astley Hall, outside Chorley, there are a pair of his boots, although their provenance is doubtful. I think that it has since been determined that they date from the 19th century.
Thank you for wearing plastic gloves the amount of times u smirking museum staff handling delicate historical objects bare handed has spoilt many videos for me
I am proud to be a Member of The Cromwell Assoc. Love this series of Cromwell & His Times.
I Hope to visit soon and also Oliver Cromwell’s house in Ely. That hat is amazing piece of history.
I was lucky enough to see the hat when it visited Newark recently. A magnificent specimen, to be sure. I do hope massive hats soon return to fashion
I really enjoyed this video, I hope you do more.
Fascinating, thankyou 👌

There's always a lot of items attributed to notable characters like Cromwell - unfortunately many such attributions don't always stand up to scrutiny!
Hi Stuart. What are the measurements of this hat ? Cheers John.
It's about 90cm in diameter John.
You should have worn the hat 🤠

We always do with any fragile items like this!
