Do kids have an innate sense of what is perverse? I don't think so. But they do seem to sense and call out unfairness. When the whole culture is built on unfair relations and people pretend to act like things are normal, perversity emerges as a reaction to the death of virtue in that culture. Democracy itself couldn't exist without the perversity of iconoclasm and terrorism against feudal monarchies.
It's a concept we call "Schadenfreude" in Germany. Literally translates to "damage-joy" or "harm-joy", though I prefer the first translation since usually - after an initial burst of laughter - people will get very serious very quickly if someone has actually hurt themselves. If there it is actual personal harm beyond a bleeding nose or broken arm and you still laugh at that, that is not Schadenfreude anymore. Other than that I think this urge is nothing to be ashamed of. It's just one of those social things we humans all share that makes slapstick comedy work.
Is this guy saying anything new that mature adults aren't aware of? Basically he is saying that people do evil things for a reason. Really? What an amazing finding.

Some men just want to watch the world burn! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I tend to laugh when I see people slip on ice or trip over an obstacle. I don't know why I have this urge
same reason why people watch fails of the week, year, ect. It is usually silly, I think. Nothing shameful.

So which of the possible reasons that he stated did you find the most plausible?
Lots of big talks happening at that setting recently 🧐
