generally you'll notice a pattern with their format. people generally play it safe
other than that i guess this is true for pretty much every country, but valedictorian and salutatorian get to do speeches
This is because of their school system and culture, I think, like students have to participate in group and class projects, plus the school activities. They give the students lots of responsibilities, you also have to take care of the others when you're a senpai, etc. And it continues like this in college and when you work for a company and throughout life. Even when you party there's at least one speech.

I know that it's just content for the channel, but this was such a nice thing to do. She'll remember that day for the rest of her life. I love the Japanese Ikigai mentality too. When she said that she's 72 and just about to look for a job it really made me smile. In the UK people count down the days until they retire at 66. I think that's a good reason why the Japanese live longer and why you see so many mobile elderly people walking around.
