      @@mtgburgeoning3205 I appreciate your content! An old buddy of mine LOVES Gruul. From Standard, to kitchen table Magic, he's all about it. He's getting into EDH pretty fast so I wanted to surprise him with a build involving a commander that used to give me nightmares at LGS pods.

      @@TCG9777 Xengaos will do that for sure! At my own LGS it was this Commander that led me to the store's EDH League Championship many moons ago, and I've been revising/updating it ever since. I have a lot of love for Xenagos and Gruul players out there! I love those bigguns! Happy brewing for your buddy!

    Gruul Stompy decks are fun to build and play. So many options on creatures that could have made the cut - Terror of the Peaks and God-Eternal Rhonas would be at the top of my maybe list

    • @mtgburgeoning3205
      @mtgburgeoning3205  3 роки тому +1

      Terror of the Peaks would be a great addition to the 99! Some additional direct damage can really make quicker work of the table. As for Rhonas, I like the ETB trigger, but not so much the one-and-done nature of it. What about Unnatural Growth instead? We lose the vigilance-enabling but for the same investment of mana (5), we double the power of our creatures during EVERY combat? Although Rhonas has a built-in-hard-to-keep-dead-or-exiled trigger, generally enchantments are tougher to remove than creatures. I love that you took the route of slinging around direct damage and making creatures bigger. GRUUL 4EVER!!

    This deck looks so cool and powerful, love Xenagos, I think he has to be my favorite of the OG Theros Block Gods. Grull has to be my favorite 2 color combo as well
    (Simic a pretty close 2nd lol). Deck looks amazing and hope to maybe see some gameplay if things allow it. Keep up all the amazing work man, can't wait to see what the 2nd entry into the BCC, but at least for me, this will be a deck that would be hard to top. Personally I think swapping out (or least looking into the idea of doing so) Savage Ventmaw for Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient, as with the amount of power you have in this deck I think it would work out better. Love this deck already, and may have to think about building it in the future. Cheers man, hope your doing well #Roadto250

      Klauth is a superb addition to this deck! A definite upgrade from Ventmaw. OR, maybe we double our mana-generating fun!? Keep them both in there and maybe find a way to wedge Aggravated Assault into the 99. Klauth's mana can only be used to cast spells, but Savage Ventmaw's can be used for anything. With any of our haste enablers present, truck loads of combat-driven mana, and perhaps some cantrips spells we could do very, very bad things. Each additional combat phase gives us more mana and an additional Xenagos ability. Each additional main phase gives us opportunities to cast more bigguns. What if we have Greater Good? Oh baby...GRUUL SMASH!

      @@mtgburgeoning3205 Potentially, I know when i seen Klauth I was super stoked since I figured it would be a sweet addition to The Ur Dragon in place of Savage Ventmaw.

    Nice deck. You might want to focus on more extra combats then super big creature.

    • @mtgburgeoning3205
      @mtgburgeoning3205  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you! Multiple combats would be a different focus for this deck for sure, as the only multiple combat enablers in the current 99 are Hellkite Charger, Savage Beating, Scourge of the Throne and, to a lesser extent, Godo, Bandit Warlord. These sources provide a pretty good balance to the deck. Aside from including one-of sorcery spells like Relentless Assault and World at War (with rebound), Aggravated Assault and creatures like Karlach, Fury of Avernus & Moraug, Fury of Akoum offer repeatable combat phases. However, neither creature has evasion and could simply be chump-blocked for days, particularly against any token builds. Would these cards replace utility creatures like Archetype of Endurance, Drakuseth, Maw of Flames, Etali, Primal Storm, Terastodon, etc.? This would put a premium on protecting creatures if their presence is reduced in the deck. For me, it's always been a winning formula to get Xenagos into play and then just send biggun after biggun after biggun into combat. I think the 99 would have to re-sculpted to incorporate a theme emphasizing additional combat phases, but I am sure it could be a very powerful build, especially with Xenagos doubling powers and toughnesses at the beginning of each of those combats. Great suggestion and vision!! Thank you for sharing!!
