My code doesn't quite work with v13 - it will need to be modified to work properly. So I recommend using v12 until Shopify rolls out the new metafield categories.

Shopify is my favorite ecommerce platform, so it gets my vote. But it's your choice at the end of the day. Starting a business requires making tough decisions, so consider this one as practice for the many more that will be coming your way.
Up to you man. I think it's a worthwhile investment, but if you don't then feel free to go with other options. You can always test it out for the first three months and if you don't like it then switch.
Yup, a lot of smoke and mirrors for now. Basically, nothing is available yet, and no one knows when its gonna be, in which order and to whom. And based on announcement from a year ago, most shouted about was Flex Building Sections and AI Assistants. Non of that happen. Not to mention that they can't use their own platform to build that presentation page. Keep doing what you do, it will be valuable for for longer, that is for sure.
