I was never a fan of boy bands even in the states especially the Korean boy bands because to me, they kinda look like “girls” (in my opinion, that is), and their music just isn’t to my liking. I guess I’m stuck in the 70s, Barbara Streisand, Julie Andrews, James Taylor, Carole King, Air Supply, Queen, etc... However, I’m still open to good music and terrific performers. I have very eclectic taste in music even though I used to sing soprano myself. With that said, while I was perusing through UA-cam, I came across some reactions to SB19 who happen to be pinoys. My curiosity got me and I watched the reactions. To my surprise, this boy band is actually very good and the lyrics of their song “spoke” to me. They took me back to my teens and the feelings evoked in me was very surprising! Suffice it to say, I searched for more of their music videos. My favorites are “Tilaluha” and “Hanggang sa Huli” that I listen to over and over, my husband’s ears are still ringing. lol. They remind me of the old ballads I used to listen to that are now missing from this generation in general. I’m very thankful that they brought it back. These kids are so very talented and I hope they reach their full potential just as the Beatles did. I say kids because they could be my “grandsons”-so very young and so full of potential as artists. I’m so happy for them that they insisted on pursuing what they love and are good at. I also hope that for their sakes, they remain grounded, humble and not get into drugs which will ruin their careers for sure. That happened to the Beatles and look what happened to them. At any rate, I wish all of them great success and many blessings. May the Lord protect them and grant them their wishes. As long as they continue producing great music and not let fame go to their heads, I will always be one of their “lola” supporters watching from Okinawa, Japan for now even after we go back to the states. I’m looking forward to more beautiful ballads as well. As much as I also like watching their hiphop music and moves, the ballads really bring out the beautiful blending of their voices-so perfect! Please keep up the great work and don’t pay attention to the bashers! Inggit lang yung mga yun na wala rin naman sigurong ibubuga. Love you, boys! I agree, at my 60’s I learned to appreciate a boy band who are so grounded, with faith in God, and how the lyrics in their music covey Pilipino culture inspiring and motivational messages to everyone. I never like any boyband before because the lyrics in their music do not convey anything. When I did my research in music how can the different genre of music affect the lives of the young and the older people? I found out that the messages does affect especially the youngsters because of how the lyrics are written. A lot of them do not have good messages because of some words are too vulgar, sensual and dark. Their are few artists who have lyrics written with good message but due to the evolution of the different genre composers don’t consider what and how can their music impact the lives of people who listens to them. The results were increase in teen pregnancy, increase drug addiction and alcohol addiction among teen and older individual, disrespect to elders by all means, increase crimes of all sort of crimes and suicide. SB19 music has inspiring messages reminding us about the love and respect to parents MAPA, go up never give up, and so on.
